The Bay (2012)
One of the most effective films I have seen
This film goes from a basic, enjoyable beginning then passes through a process that makes it more and more frightening. As I watched it I was entranced by the display of danger to the citizens of Chesapeake Bay. The storyline shows injuries to those in the hospital, law enforcement, even a couple that showed up later and the woman's husband became infected. The storyline great shows a greater threat as time goes on and actually describes the small creature that have caused the infections. The found footage element also gives it a horror sensation as it relays what initially happened and the cascade effect of those. I really enjoyed it.
The Restless Genius of Benjamin Franklin (2021)
Wonderful Documentary
The Restless Genius of Benjamin Franklin covers his entire life. From his development of the printing press to his statement of 'Early to bed early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wide, to the revolution, his using a key and a kite to attract lightning, to the writing of the. Articles of Confederation and the authoring of the Constitution, this documentary covers ever piece of his life in detail shows just what Benjamin Franklin meant to the creation of the united States of America. His interactions with France and his discussions with Betsy Ross, this documentary covers every moment of his life and what he meant to America and the freedoms we were given.
Orca (1977)
Orcas
An Orca is not a whale, its actually a dolphin. This is a well made film that shows how intelligent an Orca actually is. It creates an environment in which the man that kills off the male Orca's mate hunts him down and eventually eliminates him. Richard Harris learns how intelligent these beasts can be as the movie goes on. When he finally discovers how he needs to face this creature, he follows it to the cold, icy environment where it finally put him to death.
I absolutely enjoy this movie throughout the storyline and have watched it multiple times. It has a very engaging plot and shows we are not the only intelligent life on earth.
The Darkness (2016)
Very effective storyline
I actually enjoyed this supernatural thriller. It was very suspenseful and eerie .I enjoyed the theme music and very much enjoyed the acting. Kevin Bacon was the actor portraying Peter Taylor. Radha Mitchell played as his wife Bronny. Lucy Fry played their daughter Stephanie and David Mazouz played their son Michael. It was very effective showing. Their son Michael gets possessed by an ancient being that creates strange event throughout the movie. As thing become worse, the family rings in a couple of people to attempt to rebuke what is happening. As they do address the issues around them all, the father is able to handle the situation as best he can and is able to end the threat they all had faced.
Inferno (2016)
Didn't follow the novel at all
The issue I have with this movie is that it fails to follow the storyline created in the novel. In the novel there was a genetic virus put into the world that was designed to prevent one in every three people from having a child to prevent overpopulation.
Throughout Dan Brown's novel he goes over the potential risks of the genetic virus was until they found out towards the end what the man actually wrote. When they found that out they discussed what to do and two of them went to the WHO to discuss what to do to correct problems with the overgrowth of the population of the world. That is how the novel ends and that isn't shown in the movie.
Devil (2010)
Devil is an effective movie.
I found the movie Devil to be perfectly crafted and a brilliant psychological thriller that made me contemplate deeply as it went on. The film is intriguing from it's beginning as a murder mystery unfolding into a claustrophobic nightmare. It does a brilliant job of capturing the tension on the screen. I feel the film does well is being able to balance fantasy and realism. I very much enjoyed the acting of the characters. This is without a doubt one of the better movies I have seen.
Devil is well crafted and creates a good amount of tension as a thriller that is able to balance its horror in a very unique fashion. It may not play all its cards right, but it does still prove to be a chilling ride- as well as a true masterclass in budget filmmaking.
How to Survive the End of the World (2013)
Effective Analysis
This series has consistent and effective analysis of different methods of potential major issues. Each episode covers different potential events and approaches for handling each of the challenges set forth. I fond each episode very descriptive and insightful. Zombie earth covered the concept of a an infectious disease really turning humanity into a race of vicious, seething monsters. Hell on Earth covers a directly hit by a primordial black hole. Showing that the strike is so immense that it generates a colossal shockwave, disturbing the magma beneath every existing volcanic system. Frozen Earth examines how the Earth would end if a catastrophic dark matter event in the solar system caused the planet to slowly move away from the Sun. Each episode is astute in its evaluation of how major problems could be addressed by effective responses from humanity.
