Quantum Leap: Mirror Image - August 8, 1953 (1993)
The Quantum Leap of Al's Life
This series has taught me too much, it gives you some real life lessons and in the process you become too attached to the essence, to that spark that characterizes this series, and when I get to this episode, to this great and wonderful ending, it makes me break in tears, makes me look back in time and appreciate every quantum leap Sam made for one reason only "To make the world a better place."
This episode is perfect. Although it could have been better, the emotionality of the chapter completely makes it all. From Al the Bartender, who makes him doubt at all times and speaks to him in a metaphorical way referring to his bar every time Sam asks him something about quantum leaps, to the strangely well-known characters about whom we know very little but who have accompanied us indirectly on this trip (Ziggy and Gooshie). The detail that Sam jumps on the exact date and time of his birth is spectacular, every detail here has its reason, although it makes us all confused and doubt what is happening and still enjoy it.
In the end, Sam has helped many people and thousands more indirectly with his actions, with each quantum leap. But the more the story develops, the true protagonist comes to light: "Al", who tells us the hard story of him and how he does not have his happy ending. Sam helps his friend, returning him to his one true love. A true happy ending. And Sam, sadly continuing the hard work he started.
The series has many flaws, but the charm is maintained until the last second, the affection is immense and the open ending is given to each person's interpretation, although they also leave more doubts than answers. Likewise, this is one of the best series, personally.
