The Dark Knight (2008)

havoc, bale, ledger and eckhart ... Nolan lead the way please

i was immensely disappointed that this movie didn't release in the imax dome in India. but nonetheless i settled in for the first show in a normal sized theater with people waiting in anticipation for India's most loved super hero. people actually came in wearing the bat mask(rarity for India) i was shocked that most of the shows in other theaters were booked. i whistled when the movie started i was like a little girl in a Barbie shop waiting to buy a Barbie she has waited for for 6 months. the movie opens with a shot of Gotham city and throughout the movie we are treated to the wonderful pan shots. and at this point may i cite, this movie has no unnecessary shots, every shot speaks distinctively for itself and adds the extra bit to the movie. the acting is excellent. Bale is Batman. i guess there is no one else who can do a more perfect batman than bale. if batman was real he would be giving a standing ovation to bale. ledger, the man everyone has been waiting fro in this movie is fantabulous. he has given joker life, made him real rather than a stupid comic book villain. jokers funny but his humor catches you by your you know what and makes you wanna shudder. at one moment you are laughing and the other moment you realize you shouldn't have laughed, the joke wasn't funny, you laughed because you were scared. thats what he does to you. Aaron Eckhart ... what do you say about him? he is scarier than joker at times. his transition and anger outbursts are terrifying but at the same time remind you that he is probably one of the better actors around who is not duly recognized for his talent. he is terrifying and at some parts more scarier than joker.(his make up or whatever the hell they have done with his face adds to it) his face is horrible, you cant help looking at his eye and wish it stopped moving. also he gives something to the character of harvey dent, the Mr. do good to all and the man who has his own wars to face. he balances these dimensions to his character well. the script is flawless. it got everything right, the dialogs etc etc. Mr. Nolan probably the EST director around take a bow. this is your Oscar. after giving us excellent movies i guess this is your podium speech movie. the movie is chaotic. as the viewer at times you go dizzy trying to understand how can so much havoc be created. but Nolan handles it as though its pouring milk in a glass. this movie in the wrong hands would spell MESS i dunno about ledgers Oscar but Nolan should get recognized for this movie. watch it and be amazed. be blown away by probably one of the greatest movies ever made

Punch-Drunk Love (2002)

beautiful

this is probably one of the best movies i have seen and trust me i have seen quiet a few this movie strikes a chord and leaves something back in that place which filmmakers now a days don't think about anymore i m talking about the heart. this movie lingers in your heart long enough for you to bask in the absolute beauty of this movie. the acting is superb, i mean common Adam Sander in a serious role and pulling it off with élan would surprise anybody. Emily Watson fits her role perfectly and Paul Thomas Anderson is probably one of the best directors around. the music is abstract and bizarre at times but is in synch with the movie. once again Adam Sander why not do more such movies. this film is beautiful and is worth whatever running time it has

The Case for Christ (2007 Video)

brilliantly done

Lee Strobel's book is considered to be a masterpiece by one and all. acclaimed authors like Ravi Zacharaias and others have given it an APOLOGETICS TOOL status. now thats something big for a book. the documentary or the video doesn't disappoint. it sounds like a boring thing but trust me its sharp, smart and intelligent. the matter is good and something that other books haven't explored or dwelled with. visually the documentary is brilliant. its appealing and the locales and pictures just add to the excellent material. the camera work though simple, adds that extra bit to the documentary. its informative and explores other areas besides just a Christian's perspective of Christ. the screenplay is fast and gritty and keeps you hooked on to the on goings. great stuff, can be viewed again and again. and above all it does what it set out to do - be a tool for evangelism

Johnny Gaddaar (2007)

almost perfect

this movie is one of the very few movies at par with Hollywood thrillers the acting is excellent. Dharmendara is probably on a dream roll with Apne and now this in perfect form. Neil Mukesh is confident and is johnny Gaddar no second thoughts about his casting the story is deft and faultless. t he only problem is with the pacing they should have finished it in say one hour 45 minutes but well u need something Indian in a film the editing and camera work is excellent, direction top notch and well its just a brilliant film Zakir Hussain and Vinay Pathak are amazing soundtrack way beyond Indian cinemas reach but world class. one of the better films to come out of India in the past few years

Heyy Babyy (2007)

first things first THIS IS NOT A REMAKE OF THRE MEN AND A BABYA Now that we have covered the misconception. this movie is an original and is a typical Bollywood comic flick at times its at par with some of the better comedies of Hollywood. this movie marks the entry of one of the most talented mouths and bolly brain guys around - Sajid khan. being a critic he probably knew what the people wanted and has churned out this brilliant movie. what surprises is that he has handled every detail of the movie really well and has well given his all into it. the story is good, a bit of loose ends here and there but its a movie what else do you expect. if people want that much reality i guess film your everyday life and you could watch it and consider it a masterpiece. the acting is flawless. Fardeen surprisingly pulls of his part very well. Ritesh deshmukh is a born talent and well his comic talent is something which is still untaped. would love to see him do some serious roles too. Akshay Kumar is the best among the lot. he has enacted his part to perfection and well every movie just cements him as one of the best in bollywood. its about time the top actors make space for the new king. Boman is his plain old excellent self. Vidya is beautiful and looks amazing. her acting is perfect no hitches at all. one thinks of Kajol when seeing her. now that a compliment overall excellent movie and well i loved it

The Prestige (2006)

now now now Mr. Nolan is the master director of these times is not an unknown thing. anyone doubts it pls watch prestige. watch it again and watch it again, try to find faults if u can, there are none. the performances are goood very gooood. Hugh Jackman and Christian bale just kick ass and convince you that they are the characters. the beauty of this movie is the script. the camera work is so cool and profound that you will feel that you are in every frame of the movie, right there watching it happen in front of you. it does get a bit slow in the middle but the end makes up for it this movie talks about rivalry gone wrong wholly wrong. rivalry is good but once it comes to the stage of rivalry Jackman and Bale have in this movie u just know something bad is gonna happen and shows what competition can do to completely normal people. flawless and wow mazing it will leave u stunned this is one film, after watching i was left stunned, never has a movie done that to me. the end will just take u by surprise and make you hail Nolan as the king of the present age. watch it.

Live Free or Die Hard (2007)

now now now an action movie that makes sense rather makes more sense than the stupid action movies that we usually see. i watched this movie about one week after its release and i am repenting why i dint watch it earlier, i have already caught on two shows and still cant get enough of it. the beauty of this movie is the placement of the characters, everyone fits perfectly well in the movie, no unwanted crowd that confuses the people, everything is justified. the stunts are not only beautiful but brilliantly executed. watch out for the part where Willis takes down the helicopter. the camera work is nothing short of brilliant and is very effective. Bruce Willis as usual is the typical hard ass guy he has been and justing long, he does show he can do more than just teen movies. the chemistry between Willis and long is definitely a high point of the movie wont be surprised to see them again. overall an excellent movie which will make u stand and applaud for at least one scene in the movie a must watch

Accepted (2006)

brilliantness in simplicity

this is a teen movie and while u watch it expect some nonsensical stuff added here and there but overall the movie is effective very effective it makes you question and leaves you thinking the story is kinda far fetched but is believable and makes you feel good in sequences, its not like its the usual done and tried path. the characters are pretty well defined and are convincing. Justin long stands out among all the others and watch out for his speech in the end he will convince anyone with that speech he is simply brilliant in that speech. he needs to take on some more serious roles, he is worth more than just teen movies. etch this movie and get liberated
