Wolf Pack: Origin Point (2023)
Slowly getting more interesting
This episode reveals a bit more about what is going on. The four main characters are forming a pack. It is interesting that each of them has one heightened ability that the others don't share: hearing, smell, strength, and speed. The typical werewolf would have all of these. Perhaps it's a maturation thing.
One aspect of this episode I did not like was the police abuse of power. From officer Jang acting like a bully with his banging on the separator in the police cruiser and telling them to shut up to Officer Miller being out and out physically abusive. While it is true that there are police like this in the real world, I see no reason to include this in entertainment clearly targeted to a teenage audience. Granted Miller was a plot device but Jang, so far is not. Given Ramsey's admonition to Miller I don't think she'd have as her partner someone who acts like Jang did.
Looking forward to next episode.
Mayfair Witches (2023)
Great start!
I did not read the books. I came into this with out expectations. However, I am quite impressed with the characters as well as the performances. The creators walked a fine line delivering a story of two parts separated in time without giving that fact away. This was very nicely handled. The character of "The Man" was nicely revealed even though I'm not sure I know yet what he really is. As to the profession of the main character as a neurosurgeon, why not? Not every witch has to live in New England and own an herb shop. 😀 I'm immensely intriqued by the Mayfair family itself. Carlotta and Cortland in particular. Looking forward to the next episode.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: The Serene Squall (2022)
Boring.
I found this episode to be the weakest of the season which has been the case for the last three episodes with each one getting weaker.
Why didn't they detect the sensor buoy when they passed it? Why didn't they dete t the small ship when it oved out behind them to follow? Those two things don't make sense. I found the primary antagonist to be a caricature of a bad guy with no finer nuances of character.
I was bored throughout the entire episode with the only interesting item the reveal of Sybok at the very end.
The Batman (2022)
Boring
Slow moving, too dark a palette, music is substantially louder than dialog. Overall, another failed entry in the DCEU.
Adding characters to reach 150.
Dicktown: The Mystery of the Missing Pimento Cheese Recipe (2022)
Boring
I love adult animated TV shows like Family Guy, American Dad, and The Simpsons, but this show is flat and boring. What is worse is that FXX is airing the show back-to-back-to-back with a fourth airing after 1:00 AM the next morning. Does FXX realize it's not going to fly? Why else air so often?
Superman & Lois: Girl... You'll Be a Woman, Soon (2022)
Losing its focus
The show seems to be losing its focus. As other reviewers have said this is Superman and Lois. I'm not interested in what is going on with the Cushings... unless it ties into the Bizarro storyline. If it does then they need to start showing that. Otherwise that story line is just window dressing. The Chrissy storyline is finally starting to payoff, so I'm now, after this ep, okay with that. But the tension between her and Lois is becoming tedious. I will still watch the show and hope it improves. AND we better not have another damn hiatus. Not everyone watches poor coverage of a sporting event.
Doom Patrol: Wax Patrol (2020)
Weak season finale
This episode would be fine except that it is supposedly a season finale. Nothing plays well to up the tension into a proper cliffhanger. It was apparent to me that Dorothy has to be the solution to the Candlemaker. But Niles crying out Dorothy over and over at the end was too flat. This is the lowest rating I've given an ep of The Doom Patrol so far.
Babylon 5: And All My Dreams, Torn Asunder (1998)
Beginning of the end
Others have claimed that previous episodes of season 5 are bad. I disagree. Knowing that PTEN was dying J Michael Straczynski spent time in season four wrapping up threads in case the show couldn't continue into the planned season 5. He even filmed the series finale. Since that happened much of the early part of season 5 was setup. Every episode, no matter that it seems off topic, contains seeds which are now sprouting.
