Sex and the City (2008)
Sex and the city is a very boring movie.
I have never seen a Sex and the city episode, so I thought i'd give the film a chance. After watching 50 minutes I had to put a stop to it. I knew it was a waste of time.
I guess this film might appeal to some people, but I find that it contains everything I dislike in films;
- Very shallow characters that are rich, compulsively spending money and highly materialistic.
- Almost exclusively Caucasian cast (except a few tokens here and there)
- Extremely bad acting (I guess Sarah JessicaParker wasn't actually so bad, she did what she could with the kind of role she was given)
- Very boring plot about people getting married / breaking up and whatever.
- Stupid jokes about crapping into pants etc.
- Not a single funny moment.
I beg you, do not watch this film, it sucks.
Why I gave it 3/10: 1 point that is given automatically to all films 1 point because there was audio 1 points because there were visuals
Stay (2005)
A beautiful movie, too smart for me.
This movie was beautifully made, the acting was impeccable and the visuals were stunning. No special effects were over-used and I found the overall style quite unique. Although being very tired, I enjoyed every minute of this film and it never made me want to sleep. Far from a waste of time, this is a film which will entertain you even after watching it by making you want to find your own conclusions to its complex plot, if you really want to try.
Although this was quite unique and a truly enjoyable experience, as many others, I was not satisfied with the ending. It made me feel like either the plot is truly abstract or I am not clever enough to understand the logic behind this movie. So viewers, don't expect everything to untie itself at the end, the end will only confuse you more. Saying that the end doesn't really solve the questions raised during the unfolding is in itself a spoiler which is why I chose to warn readers. I would love to hear what the people responsible for this film have to say about it.
Anyways, this is a must see and I must say how it upsets me that such a good and original movie gets an average rating of 6.8/10 compared to truly horrible productions such as Flight 93 (7.8/10).
Watch it.
Firewall (2006)
Not a waste of time. Contains somewhat irrelevant spoilers.
This movie cost me about 35 cents to watch.. that's the cost of two hours at a cyber-cafe in China. I wouldn't spend more than that.
It wasn't a bad movie compared to a lot of other computer / hacking movie out there, although there really isn't much hacking involved in this movie.
The actors' performances are not especially impressive but I guess the directing doesn't completely suck, the story was related the best way it could've possibly been considering the boring plot.
One question remains; why has this movie been called "Firewall" when the entire movie has nothing to do with firewalls, other than a 10 seconds scene at the beginning when Harrison Ford hops on a computer and types a one-line commands to apparently secure a router against an evil hacker simultaneously staging a "brute force attack" from multiple Asian locations.
Basically, the only thing relevant to the story requiring advanced computer and electronic skills that Harrison Ford does is to use a wire and scanner element from his fax machine, connected to his daughter's IPOD, to somehow create a "screen scanner".
Anyways, although this movie is basically a cheap rip-off of other bank robbing hostage movies, and although this movie was a used to promote Microsoft and Apple products, I wasn't left with this feeling of having wasted an hour and a half of my time. It was entertaining and the technical elements were somewhat credible.
