The Northman (2022)
Conan on Mushrooms
My shortcoming is that mysticism leaves me mystified. It adds ZERO to a plot and stops the plot line, but, it's easy to write, I guess. I would suggest that the fight scenes should not look choreographed. Especially when they are one element that can save your movie. They did not.
The Waltons: The Celebration (1977)
Blue the mule...
Was invaluable to the operation. Mules - or "Jakes" as they were often called in Western North Carolina - could haul logs out of forests where tractors couldn't go. And they didn't tear up the land nor need a road cut. Sometimes you'll find logging trails with short turnouts called "Jake holes". These are on steep grades. If a team loses control and is tearing down the trail, a team ahed of them could pull into the Jake hole. That's all I know about it. Except that mule teams still are prized to surgically haul timber out to avoid clear cutting.
What We Do in the Shadows (2019)
Better than the movie!
They really dialed this story in with the series. All the characters are perfect and well-played. This is the only show in years that makes my wife and I laugh out loud and laugh again when we recall scenes. Thanks to the producers for this delightful series.
Das Leben der Anderen (2006)
Coming to your state.
I have bought less than 5 dvds in my 66 years. I bought this one, though, and I am carried back more and more frequently as the years pass and the paranoid left seeks to shore up their desparate regime. Now Facebook wants to relieve this totalitarian insanity with their "squeal on your neighbor" campaign. Facebook is facism.
The Rockford Files: This Case Is Closed (1974)
Combo Jams!
While watching this episode I found a new vibe in the soundtrack in the front half. Would not be surprised if some later superstars weren't moonlighting on the set. Groovy sound.
Adam-12: Log 172: The Things You Do for the Job (1969)
What was Malloy's scam?
So, he might have done Elaine Benez's thumb dance, but, I doubt it. I think he told Penny he wasn't interested in women. Back then they called them "confirmed bachelors". It is the only explanation why a normal guy would resist her sweet advances. Just a window into the character in a series that was trying to make some social statements. Otherwise, a restraining order would have sufficed. (Remember, he was ready to retire before he met Reed)
Gunsmoke: About Chester (1961)
Interesting episode
I've watched this episode several times, but, this time I noticed something that really made it special. In the last minutes of the episode, before the scuffe, there is a hat rack that steals the scene. It had to have been an inside joke. It must have!
