Teenage Bounty Hunters (2020)
Yet another wasted opportunity for Netflix
Another great show that Netflix has bailed on early. This was one of the funniest original shows that I've seen on Netflix, although I don't have a lot of basis for comparison since I don't watch a lot of comedies.
All I can say is, this show could have been something great, but as usual, Netflix canned it before it could really find it's audience. Obviously I understand the logical reason for cancelling a show, what I DON'T understand is why they can't give a good show the time it needs to find it's audience. This idea that they can tell whether it's going to be successful after a few episodes is just absurd to me. There have been a TON of shows that took more than a season or 2 to find it's audience, and to become truly successful (BtVS, Parks and Recreation, The X-Files, TWD), so I really don't get why they can't just let it run for a bit, and grow to become successful. I get that original shows on streamers are more expensive to make, but jeez, if you're going to make it, at least give it a chance.
I'm just so tired of watching a new show, only to have it cancelled right out of the gate. This is the reason I don't usually start watching a show until after it's original run.
All I can say is, this show deserved better. And so did the people that made it. Go watch it for yourself, like you should have done BEFORE it was cancelled!
Anna (2019)
Cell phones and laptops in 1985, are just the START of the problem
My issues with this movie only BEGIN with the technology. Sasha Luss is beautiful, no question. But she emotes like a wooden doll. She does the action stuff just fine, (apparently only 2 action scenes in the whole movie. I say apparently because I couldn't even make it an hour into this).
You know what, I'm just going to save time and say that, yes, I probably should have done my research and realized that this movie is just a remake of La Femme Nikita. But I didn't, so imagine my surprise when I watched and discovered that it played almost scene for scene, like the original.
Basically, there's nothing new here folks. Nothing but a shiny 100lb 20 something in tight clothes that can't emote. I say this with true regret, because I USE to love Luc Besson. The Professional, La Femme Nikita, even The fifth Element brought things that were captivating to watch. No movie truly NEEDS a remake, especially Nikita.
Free Fire (2016)
Clearly most people either don't pay attention to, or just don't "get" movies these days!
I've read so many nonsensical reviews on this site over the years, it's clear that most people now a days don't comprehend what it is they're watching. It's one thing to not LIKE a movie, but to say it's a BAD movie, or to trash said movie for seriously stupid reasons...i.e. not comprehending or paying attention, that's just dumb. Learn the difference between FACT and OPINION folks.
I've read complaints the likes of "why don't they stop and AIM". Let's see, maybe because THEY'RE BEING SHOT AT TOO". I mean seriously. Would you just stand up like a target, or would you want to stay behind cover.
Another complaint was, "where did they get all the ammunition". They could have brought it with them. When Ord patted everyone down, he was only checking to make sure no one was wearing a wire. He didn't care if they had guns or bullets.
I'd love to address the rest of the so called "criticisms", but there's not enough time in the world to explain all of them. All I can say is, stop punishing good movies because you don't understand them, or don't pay attention. And learn the difference between fact and opinion while you're at it. I've seen far too many people post dumb reviews for movies, for some seriously stupid reasons.
V for Vendetta (2005)
An interesting idea, but something is missing
CONTAINS SPOILERS!!! While I applaud the effort, this movie never really got my attention. I was more then a little disappointed with how the trailer for this film seemed to suggest it was an action movie....unfortunately i think there may have been MAYBE 10 min of action in the entire 2+ hours. I just couldn't get into it, i waited and waited for something to happen and was constantly let down. Although the plot line of how V came to be who he is was interesting (the government imprisoned him and others while conducting experiments on them, and he was in cell 5, the roman numeral being V) it just couldn't decide whether it wanted to be a political thriller or an action. Although I would lean towards action.
I guess I don't really have much else to add except, if you see this movie for the action sequences....save yourself the effort. Perhaps the Wachowski Bro's should stick to fantasy movies, because this movie really wasn't what it could have been.
Oh one more thing, at times I found it really difficult to hear the dialog...especially it seemed when it was most important....so if you do decide to see it, pay close attention or you'll miss important details
