James Dean (2001)
One of the best if not the best T.V. film I have ever seen!
I came upon this movie on television by pure accident but, i had remembered hearing of it. So i tuned in watching James Franco portray James Dean with an uncanny accuracy and it taught me a lot about his life and his struggle with family issues. Although he had a short 3 movie career he was praised in all 3 films (East of Eden, Rebel Without a Cause and Giant). He was an incredible actor and surely would've made many more powerful movies if he hadn't passed away.
James Byron Dean was surely one of the greatest actors of his time and although sometimes "difficult" on the set he still could act wonderfully. This movie follows his life as a boy and when his mother dies of sickness he goes to Indiana with his grandmother. James Dean had a father who didn't really appreciate him, he wouldn't even hug him back. But the worst part Mr. Dean didn't even show up to the funeral of the mother, in fact he never came. James lives with is aunt and uncle and likes to do things like ride his motorcycle and play basketball. Now after his high school education is over he is gone to his old home in California to go to a business community college. He now meets his father again, his father and new wife say they will let him stay at their house until he gets back on his feet. When James decides to study acting instead they will have no part of it and he isn't welcome any more. Then it follows his days at acting school and in New York as a struggling actor. It also follows him on the sets of his movies. His love for motorcycles and fast cars finally kills him and right after he has a emotional moment with his father and they now understand each other. His life was too short.
Please I urge you to go see this movie on TNT you will be moved.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Someone needed to make a film with as much power as The Shawshank Redemption!
Coming into this film you really don't think that you will see a movie of this high caliber. I think I have seen this movie over 30 times in my time on this planet and i look forward to viewing it many more times. This is a drama which follows Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) as he has to serve a lengthy jail sentence for the murder of his wife. Although he claims he is innocent the overwhelming evidence lands him in the Shawshank Prison. At first sight he is seen as "The tall drink of water with the silver spoon up his ass" and is doubted from the start. He keeps to himself for the most part until he meets Ellis "Red" Redding (Morgan Freeman) and creates and special friendship with him. This story line creates one of the most moving films of not even the 90's but dare I say of all time. This is my favorite movie and will always be my favorite movie and I think that the performances by the whole cast (mostly Robbins and Freeman) deserve critical acclaim for their portrayal of two people just trying to make it in life. The musical score of this film is also astounding and excellent by Thomas Newman one of the most working film composers out there. The Director (Frank Darabont) directors one of his prison dramas and most likely his best. This film is emotional, intense, uplifting and should be seen by everyone. I give this film a 10/10, 4 stars, thumbs up and everything along those lines, please for the good of humanity see this movie laugh, cry and get busy living.
Wet Hot American Summer (2001)
The End of summer camp in 1981
Mediocare but very funny Good job avi!!!!! Jeneane Garafolo is very good in this masterpiece of art. I think the young stars really make this movie wonderful. Avi Setton who plays "Marty" Has a heartrenching roll in this movie and pulls it off wonderfully.

American Beauty (1999)
A wonderful movie that should be watched by everyone.
American Beauty on the outside a dark comedy about life as a normal family in the sub-burbs. On the inside this film is about one man who changes his life to help himself really live again. But as he does this the rest of his family is turned upside down. Kevin Spacey gives an Oscar worthy performance as a middle aged man who is sick of his life, he quits his job, and got a new one at a burger place. Doing all of this as he is having fantasies about one of his daughters friends.
Annette Bening playing a mother/obsessed house realtor is wonderful in this movie. She delivers one of the best performances of her life. Bening portrayed the mother with such talent and acting ability, she was so anal and uptight and her husband had that changed throughout the movie. The Best of the year maybe even the decade. SEE THIS MOVIE!!!
