Nushrratt Bharuccha has shown she can play characters in a wide variety of film genres in films like Love Sex Aur Dholka, Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Dream Girl, and Chhalaang. She showcases this once again with her newest release by playing the lead role in the paranormal horror film Chhorii. In our recent interview, Nushrratt revealed that Chhorii was genuinely exhausting but also very artistically satisfying, but you can hear more on that in a few lines.
Directed by Vishal Furia, Chhorii, is a remake of the Marathi film Lapachhapi tells a haunting tale of a modern, young couple, Sakshi and Hemant, based in the heartland of India. Sakshi, who is eight months pregnant, and Hemant are forced by challenging life circumstances to seek shelter in an isolated house surrounded by large sugarcane fields. The house is inhabited by an old couple who seem to know more than they tell.

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta on Saturday admitted his 2017 release Simran, starring Kangana Ranaut, was a mistake. He also compared the error in judgement to supporting Anna Hazare and Arvind Kejriwal in the past.
"I supported him (Anna) in good faith. Like I later supported Arvind. I don't regret it. All of us make mistakes. I made Simran," he tweeted on Saturday.
The 2017 film is about a divorcee named Praful Patel who loses her savings in a gambling bout. She then takes a loan to set things straight, and when she is unable to repay it, she finds herself drawn into a life of crime.
The film, said to be based on a true story, faced controversy when screenwriter Apurva Asrani alleged that Kangana, who has been credited as additional dialogue and story writer of the project, tried to discredit him by claiming she had developed the story with Mehta from a one-line script.

Mumbai, Dec 10 (Ians) Actress Nushrratt Bharuccha is not a huge horror fan, but has to watch a few in the line of work. She says she has found a technique to help her sleep after catching up on scary movies.
She is set to headline the horror film, "Chhorii", for which the actress seems to be preparing in full swing.
"For me watching a horror film is like one of those cheap thrills, which I know I'll not be able to get through, but I still would want to, and go down that road anyway. I cannot watch a horror film fully. I keep hiding behind my shawl, or cover my face with something when some eerie part comes because I just can't see it. But I have to watch it because I need to know how it ends or how the mystery solved. This is very important for me...

It was 1979 when Satish Kaushik came to Mumbai from Delhi to achieve his dream of becoming an actor, and it took a lot of hard work, dedication to reach where he is today. Looking back at those days, Kaushik reveals he even worked as a cashier before venturing into films.
"It was a big thing to even have a thought of entering Bollywood at that time -- especially for a person who belongs to a middle class family in Karol Bagh, Delhi. I clearly remember how I worked as a cashier for a year in a textile mill to meet my financial needs. I did not want to sleep on platforms, so I had worked a lot to earn enough to be able to sleep without an empty stomach. I used to receive only Rs 400 a month for that job. National Award-winning filmmaker Hansal Mehta is all praise for actor Rajkummar Rao, with whom he has often collaborated. Mehta says the success of the actor makes him feel like a happy parent.
Rajkummar made his acting debut in 2010 "Love Sex Aur Dhokha". But it was through Mehta's film "Shahid" in 2013 that he gained recognition. The actor again collaborated with the filmmaker with projects such as "CityLights", "Aligarh", "Bose: Dead/Alive", "Omerta" and the recent digitally released film "Chhalaang".
Talking about Rajkummar's evolution as an actor, Mehta said, "The beauty is Rajkummar has never lost his humility and generosity that he always had as an actor. He has remained that same person. What has changed is that Rajkummar has become really popular."
The quinquagenarian reminisced about how he and the actor would walk freely on the street and shoot "guerilla style" on the roads in the past.
"Now that is not possible.

Chhalaang (on Amazon Prime); Cast: Rajkummar Rao, Nushrat Bharucha, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Saurabh Shukla, Ila Arun, Satish Kaushik; Direction: Hansal Mehta; Rating: * * * (three stars)

Sports films can no longer be just about sporting themes and students coming of age, we have crossed that generic phase a while back. So Hansal Mehta, in the most mainstream film he has made in a while, throws in a love triangle and a whole lot of goofy humour into the narrative of his new film. The story is set in heartland Haryana, and that gives him a passable scope to talk patriarchy without getting too heavy about it.
Mehta's new film is far from the class of Aligarh, Shahid or his recent web series Scam 1992 -- directorial efforts that draw automatic recall when you think of the filmmaker. That's not to say Chhalaang lacks quality. It's just that Mehta has made an easier film this time,...

Mumbai, Nov 11 (Ians) The singer-composer duo of Vishal and Shekhar has distanced themselves from the remix of their song Deedar de, saying they have nothing to do with the new version.
The original track sung by Sunidhi Chauhan was composed by the duo for Anubhav Sinha's 2005 release, Dus. The new version, sung by Asees Kaur and Dev Negi, is part of Hansal Mehta's upcoming film, Chhalaang, featuring Rajkummar Rao and Nushrratt Bharuccha. The new song has updated lyrics by Panchhi Jalonvi.
After the launch of the new version, Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjianii tweeted this message: "We have been very kindly credited here, only because we composed the original #DeedaarDe in 2004. However, we haven't done this "remix". That said, best wishes to the film and team. Thanks for loving our music down the years."
Ravjianii delved a bit more into it by calling out the remix culture with a cryptic tweet.

New Delhi, Nov 11 (Ians) Critically acclaimed actor Rajkummar Rao is proud of his filmography, but he says he does not watch his past works again in order to analyse his performances.
Last month, the 2013 biographical drama "Shahid", which fetched him a National Award, turned seven. Asked what he sees when he looks back at his work, Rajkummar told Ians: "I feel proud that I am part of such films that people will know me of, because of this filmography. I don't really re-watch my performances, but if I see bits here and there, I always feel that I could have done it better."
"Also, you grow in life, you become more mature and understand the changes, so yeah that feeling always comes," added the actor, who has impressed audiences with films such as "Trapped", "Newton", "Bareilly Ki Barfi" and "Stree".

New Delhi, Nov 10 (Ians) This year, Diwali fervour will stream onto your Ott screens rather than come alive on the big screen, owing to the ongoing pandemic. An explosion of new content to keep you hooked is being readied to drop on digital platforms, to mark the festival of lights.
"Post re-opening of theatres, there will be a settling period for viewers to gain trust, and confidence on the safety levels, to encourage them to step out to watch their favourite big event movie. OTTs are the best alternative in the current situation. Hence, viewership numbers may witness an upward trend on Ott platforms (during the festive season)," Chandrashekar Mantha, Partner, Deloitte India, told Ians.
In the same vein, trade analyst Girish Johar told Ians: "When it comes to the big screen, Diwali (festive season) is out of the question. So the next window in which there can be a...

Mumbai, Oct 22 (Ians) Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh says filmmaker Luv Ranjan has a great understanding of music, and knows which song will work in a particular script.
The rap star has created the peppy track "Care ni karda" for Ranjan's upcoming co-production, "Chhalaang", starring Rajkummar Rao and Nushrratt Bharuccha. In the past, Ranjan has used Yo Yo hits such as "Dil chori" and "Chhote chhote peg" in his 2018 directorial, "Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety".
"Luv Ranjan understands any song in just one go. He knows which song will work for his film and which won't. When he chooses a particular song, he makes sure to shoot it pretty well. The song was written by Alfaaz and sung by a Punjabi vocalist, Sweetaj Brar. Once it was finalized for 'Chhalaang', me and Hommie (Dilliwala) wrote the rap," Singh said.
