Now, I appreciate there’s a lot of base level ‘weirdness’ to the genre if you’re not used to it. There’s curious dubbing, an emphasis on physicality over plotting, some eastern cultural touchpoints that baffle unfamiliar western audiences… but fans get used to all that. I’m talking about something slightly different.
To clarify, it might seem strange to new viewers when...

Gotham’s season finale was full of twists and turns, but did it feel like a satisfying conclusion?
This review contains spoilers.
1.22 All Happy Families Are Alike
Holy plot twist, Batman! Indeed, Gotham’s season 1 finale was full of them, and it was hugely enjoyable to feel wrong-footed at every turn by a show that hasn’t always lived up to expectations.

For all its teases, we do wish that the mob war had lasted a little longer, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t thrilling viewing. Fish’s return was handled well, with her subsequent indoctrination of Selina a nice touch,...

What if "Gotham" was not the TV series that so many of us thought we needed back in the fall, but what if Bruno Heller's twisty comic book drama has become the TV series we deserve now? Look, if you're going to get hung up on Batman mythology, I'm powerless to tell you that "Gotham" became or ever will become a show that will make you happy. It's a prequel that almost cannot possibly ever line up with the version of the Caped Crusader that we know from either DC Comics, from the Christopher Nolan films or the early Tim Burton films. And that's frustrating. I can't tell you that it isn't. The Penguin is rising! The Riddler is cracking! Somebody who may or may not be The Joker is becoming dangerously unhinged! Even Harvey Dent looks to be a couple bum coin flips away from dementia. And Bruce...
