Looking back at 18 seasons of TLC’s Sister Wives, it appears many elements led to the Brown family’s destruction. Favoritism, negligence, petty behavior, and thoughtlessness were just a few ways Kody Brown deconstructed his polygamist clan. However, control was his biggest downfall, and it ultimately destroyed his family.
Kody Brown’s ‘where we go one, we go all’ mentality was a way to control his family.
During the TLC series, Kody Brown repeated the family mantra, “Where we go one, we go all.” This statement encompassed every move the supersized clan made.
Kody’s insistence that the entire family support every one of his ideas gave him a sense of control. Therefore, his four wives—Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn—could not push back.
The wives had no real say when Kody kept moving his family around. They lived in Utah’s American Fork, Lovell, Wyoming, Montana, Lehi, Utah,...

Laughter strikes from all sides in “The Gutter,” the kind of brash and boisterous broad comedy that has largely been missing from multiplexes in recent years. Directors Yassir and Isaiah Lester seem to share a special ability with their main character Walt (Shameik Moore), who has a habit of hitting the central pin in spite of having a different delivery every time he steps up to the line. The same goes for the filmmaking siblings in this hysterical tale of a bowling alley employee who finds he’s better on the lanes than behind the bar.
Although Walt changes things up from a fast-pitch softball-like windup to simply throwing the bowling ball overhand, you just don’t know where a sight gag or a sharp one-liner will hit you when every part of the frame seems like a ripe opportunity for humor. Nothing seems off limits when Walt takes an...

TLC have an array of stars in their documentary “TLC Forever”.
The band — who are currently on the Hot Summer Nights Tour with Shaggy and special guests En Vogue and Sean Kingston — chatted to Et Canada’s Brittnee Blair about teaming up with the likes of Dave Grohl in the Lifetime doc, which chronicles the journey of the group.
Having someone like Grohl — who lost Foo Fighters’ drummer Taylor Hawkins last year — appear meant a lot, given TLC band member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes died in 2002 in a car accident.
Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins said of Grohl, “He actually can understand exactly what we felt because he lost a group member as well. So, you know, there’s no one more perfect in my eyes that could have spoke on our behalf.”

In the news, we Muslims litter the landscape. It seems we want it all.
We want to keep our daughters hidden at home, at all costs, to guard the family honour. We want to be able to wear the niqab anytime, anywhere. We want democracy in the Muslim world even if it leads to Shariah law and the violation of basic human rights. We want Shariah law here at home to govern personal matters like family law. We want Muslim prayers in schools, where we want to segregate our children by gender, and further segregate our daughters if they are menstruating.
If you watch the news, us Muslims are angry folk with odd, backward customs.
Where are all the moderate Muslims? Why don't those of us who have integrated fully into secular North American society ever speak out?
Maybe some of us do. Maybe not everyone wants to hear us.

Many a soap opera fan is devasted with ABC's decision to cancel All My Children and One Life the Live. ABC is trying to alleviate some of that pain with a brand new show that brings cooking to daytime television.
The Chew is a mash-up of food, style and everyday living with hosts like Clinton Kelly (of TLC's What Not to Wear) and celebrity chefs Mario Batali, Michael Symon and Carla Hall. The cast of "rotating hosts" also includes nutritionist, Daphne Oz.
According to the people over at ABC, The Chew will "focus on food from Every angle."
"Get the dish on anything and everything related to the world of food and beyond," ABC execs said in a statement. "Whether it's new trends like food trucks and urban gardens or how pesticides in our food may affect our health, we can't stop talking about it."

The cast of TLC’s upcoming All-American Muslim reality show spoke out at TV critics press tour about their goals for the show — and their security concerns. “We’re happy TLC is giving us an opportunity to showcase our lives,” says Suehaila Amen, a member of one of the five Michigan families followed by the new series. “It’s not that we’re out to preach or educate, it’s about seeing the real life of these five American families.”

The ‘90s are back, and so are your favorite shows. Last night, TeenNick premiered "The ‘90s Are All That," a statement anyone in their twenties or early thirties will most certainly agree with. Twitter has been burning up with love for the classic shows that made Nickelodeon the channel it is today. Shows like "iCarly," "Drake and Josh" and "Victorious" are wildly popular with the younger generation, but it was shows like "All That," "The Amanda Show," "Rugrats," “Clarissa Explains It All” and "Doug" that paved the way and still have a special place in our hearts.
The two-hour run of shows, which air weeknights from midnight to 2Am, is not just a block of programming, it’s a movement. Viewers can "Watch. Discuss. Obsess." on Facebook and Twitter. You can also join the ongoing conversation, keep up with the evolving schedule and catch...

The cast of 'Sister Wives' drops by to speak to Ellen DeGeneres, who herself appears as the fifth addition to Kody Brown's stable of wives in a skit on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' (weekdays, syndicated).
In a hilariously doctored clip from the Tlc reality show's upcoming season, the wives discuss their conflicted feelings over Brown's honeymoon with his fourth wife. Meanwhile, DeGeneres, who's wearing a blonde wig, files her nails nonchalantly and seems unperturbed.

It's been a disappointing Sunday for me, as I seem to be coming down with a cold and mostly have been spending the day on my couch contemplating the amazing amount of work I have to do this week while watching the endless supply of bad movies that are available on TV. I lead an exciting life, let me tell you. Whatever you've heard about the wild and crazy antics of grad students, I can personally attest to it being absolutely true. Here's your Sunday night TV:
7:00pm: Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" on ABC. Two hour eighth season premiere.
"Football Night in America" on NBC
7:30pm: "60 Minutes" on CBS. 43rd season premiere. Does this show have an audience under 60? No offense to the over 60's out there, but I don't think I actually know anyone who watches this show and since I'm a member of that extremely valuable and coveted 18-35 demographic,...

If online viewing is your primary source for "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report," you'll have one fewer place to watch the two shows starting next week.
Comedy Central's parent company, Viacom, has decided to pull those two shows from Hulu, one of the go-to sites for full-episode streams of TV shows. The shows will still stream on TheDailyShow.com and ColbertNation.com.
Not surprisingly, the decision to pull the shows comes down to money. Comedy Central says in a statement that "We had a great experience with Hulu," but several reports say the two sides couldn't work out financial terms to renew their deal.
- "Access Hollywood" will take a shot at the daytime market next fall with a live talk show called, appropriately enough, "Access Hollywood Live."
The show will have a relatively small launch on NBC-owned stations in six cities (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago,...

Welcome to another edition of TV or Not TV where I fear I may be getting TV’d out.
If you are a regular reader of this column you may think that I live the care free lifestyle of a professional columnist who has the luxury of sitting around all day with an array of DVR’s that allow me to watch every show aired. Perhaps you see me at 400 plus pounds and smothering my couch or favorite recliner as I do this. Thankfully all of the above couldn’t be further than the truth.
I’m a guy just like anyone else. I have your standard 8 to 5 that I have to commute to and give up another two hours of my life doing so. When it finally comes time to be able to sit down and watch the latest and greatest offering the boob tube has to share I...
