All week, Vulture has been celebrating Seinfeld, which celebrates its 25th anniversary on July 5. Today, we talk to longtime Seinfeld writer and producer Peter Mehlman about the unique way the show was putu together. (Unlike most shows, there was no writers' room — each person wrote the episodes he thought of.) In addition to writing such classic episodes as "The Smelly Car," "The Hamptons," and "The Sponge," Mehlman — whose first novel will be published in September — created some of the show's most iconic catchphrases, including "shrinkage," "double-dip," and "yada yada." Here, he talks about what type of jokes Larry David liked more than Jerry Seinfeld, and getting yada-yada'd by strangers. I was wondering if you could walk me through the process of writing a Seinfeld episode.First, you come up with an idea — well, you really need to come up with four ideas, or three, because you have to...

“There’s any understanding of privacy there,” Ryan exclusively told HollywoodLife.com. “It’s friends buying friends’ places. It’s beautiful, it’s close to New York City, maybe 1-1/2 max to the greatest city in the world.”
Two of those “friends” include Jerry Seinfeld and Billy Joel. Jerry bought Billy’s $32 million place — which was a 12-acre estate with “a baseball diamond and a 22-car garage!

The Hamptons International Film Festival had scheduled the screening of the Oscar nominated documentary, The Most Dangerous Man in America: Daniel Ellsberg and the Pentagon Papers, the second in its SummerDocs Series in East Hampton for Saturday August 7, well before Wikileaks made Daniel Ellsberg a hot item-again, 40 years after he leaked The Pentagon Papers. Now, swamped with media requests, Ellsberg will fly east from his home in Oakland, California to attend the Guild Hall screening and join actor Alec Baldwin and Carl Bernstein, the journalist with whom Bob Woodward broke Watergate, for a conversation that is sure to engage his anti-war passions, even though, as he asserted in a recent phone interview, "I am not a pacifist. Self defense is justified." Q: Do you think the comparison between The Pentagon Papers and Wikileaks is apt? The comparison is inevitable....

Well ABC seemed to be out in the lead for having the most shows we were thankful for in 2009 with 4 of their new shows making our list. In second place was the USA channel with 2, while Syfy, Fox, HBO and NBC all had 1 on the list as well. I was surprised that CBS didn’t make our list but with so many already good shows previous to 2009 they didn’t have to add a lot to their programming schedule. Glee got our top spot while Flashforward barely made the list.

Couldn’t think of any other show to go here than this one. A complete surprise this musical dramedy series from of all people, Ryan Murphy, the guy who brought us Nip/Tuck. This series is a massive 180 from his repetoire but thats okay because we love it. Everything from the weekly musical selections, to the talented group of...

It all started with an innocent trip to The Hamptons. Fictional fiction writer, Richard Castle, was worried that his daughter hadn't returned from her walk with a new boy. He set off on the beach to look for her, and instead found... a foot.
Castle, ABC's quirky police procedural starring Nathan Fillion, is working overtime to snag viewers. In addition to the release of Heat Wave, an actual novel written by and based upon the fictional characters in the show, "Richard Castle" has also started a Twitter account. While his updates started off innocently enough, with tales of drinks with his neighbor Jerry Seinfeld, things quickly took a darker turn when a severed foot turned up on the beach.
Now, Twitter followers of @WriteRCastle can go along with the writer as he searches for clues, first to the victim's identity, and then, hopefully to the killer. He's been on the...

The hugely popular Jonas Brothers boy band took a break from playing large venues for a more intimate concert this weekend at the elite Ross School in East Hampton NY. The New York Daily News reports that in fact, it took the Jonas Brothers performance to bring warring exes Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook together to work out an arrangement to allow their kids to see the boy band. Christie wanted to take the kids to a Jonas Brothers fundraiser on Saturday at the posh private Ross School, but it was actually Peter's weekend to have the children, the New York Daily News reports. Christie reportedly first arrived at the school with 13-year-old son Jack in tow before the show began and was even able to take him backstage to meet the young members of the boy band, the News said. By noon, when the actual concert started, the New...
