Trivia According to Deanna Durbin in a letter dated August 2, 1987 to film historian William K. Everson and published in the October 1987 issue of "Films in Review," the actress assertively attests that "Jean Renoir shot two thirds of the film as it now stands. The amazingly brave suggestion of Bruce Manning to shelve it all and do a modern version of "The Taming of the Shrew" was greeted enthusiastically by Jean, and Bruce started to contact writers immediately. Jean Renoir came back the next day complaining of the old war wound on his leg." See more »
