It was followed by That They May Face the Rising Sun, which took home the best film prize, and Double Blind, with 11 each. The 69th Taormina Film Festival boasts an impressive lineup of Italian and world premieres as it seeks to reboot and re-establish its status as a date to watch on the festival circuit. Located in the historical Sicilian town – its visibility recently getting an unlooked for boost with the second season of HBO’s ”The White Lotus” – will be hosting a series of screenings. The outdoor Teatro Antico will provide a suitably antique background for the Italian premiere of “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” with Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, and Mads Mikkelsen in attendance.
The directorial debut of Italian artist Marco Perego, “The Absence of Eden,” will receive its world premiere. The film stars Perego’s wife Zoe Saldaña, Garrett Hedlund and Adria Arjona. Karen Hassan is terrific as an Irish woman fleeing sex work, but her powerful screen presence is not matched by the film around her
This melodrama set in Yorkshire stars Karen Hassan – a performer with terrific screen presence – as an Irish woman called Alison; she is trapped by her past into working in a brothel with an assortment of other luckless women, some of them trafficked in from abroad. The man who first got her on the game is her own father (Sean McGinley), who she still visits for a line of coke in his seedy trailer every now and again.
One day, shy tech wiz Sam (Aaron Cobham), a man with his own sad backstory, is compelled by a debt owed to the brothel’s vicious owner Max (Neil Bell) to install secret cameras in the rooms so Max and his henchman Barry (Theo Ogundipe) can spy on the workers and clients.

Ten days have gone by since Warlock star Julian Sands went missing while hiking up Mount Baldy in Southern California. While his car has been located, the actor himself is still missing, and we’re still hoping for a positive outcome to this situation. In a bit of awkward timing, the latest movie Sands starred in was just given a Digital, Blu-ray, and DVD release today – it’s the horror movie The Ghosts of Monday, and you can pick up a copy at This Link. To help you figure out whether or not this is a movie you would like to watch, we have the trailer embedded above.
Directed by Francesco Cinquemani, The Ghosts of Monday promises to deliver an unnerving horror experience. The Hotel Gula, stately, luxurious and abandoned for over twenty years since the food for a party’s banquet was seasoned with rat poison leading to the painful death of everyone in attendance as well as the owner’s suicide. It’s hardly the kind of place that would need help to appear haunted.
But less than ten minutes into The Ghosts of Monday that’s exactly what Bruce the host of a ghost hunting show, is suggesting to the property’s new owners, Frank and Rosemary. This does not sit well with the show’s director Eric. And the last thing this production needs is more tension, Eric’s ex-wife, and Bruce’s daughter, Sofia is also part of the show’s crew.

I remember how perfectly John Williams’ lush score for 1993’s Jurassic Park set the stage for what was to follow. That film was imaginative, funny, scary, and filled with interesting doings. Since then, every sequel has paled in comparison, lifting bits and pieces of the memorable theme and elements from the first film. What filled in the large gaps were just…more. More dinosaurs. More chases. More corporate stupidity. What was a noble, yet misguided plan was undermined by corporate greed, a theme that was exhausted by the time Wayne Knight was devoured.
The Jurassic World reboot with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard was entertaining enough and the CGI improved so we could see more nuance among the species that were now becoming a global ecological threat. Add in some genetic shenanigans with the arrival of Maisie Lockwood (Isabella Sermon), you have some new tones to play with.

In a recent interview with Empire magazine, Jurassic World Dominion helmer Colin Trevorrow teased the emergence of a new dinosaur called the Giganotosaurus in the upcoming film, likening it to a classic DC villain.
“I wanted something that felt like the Joker,” Trevorrow said of the dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous period, otherwise known as the Giga. “It just wants to watch the world burn.”
Trevorrow added that the Giga hails from BioSyn Valley. BioSyn, if you’ll recall, is the company that stole InGen’s dinosaur embryos in the original film, and will play a major role in the new film, as well. “BioSyn got the contract to house the dinosaurs that have been captured around the world via various governments,” explained Trevorrow. “They claim it’s a research facility where they can study the pharmaceutical values of the animals. But there’s some other stuff going on.”

Alec Baldwin has found his next pair of acting projects on the heels of the shooting on the Albuquerque set of his Western Rust, Deadline has confirmed.
He will star alongside his brother Daniel Baldwin and Elva Trill in the live-action/animated Christmas family comedies Kid Santa and Billie’s Magic World, from Italian director Francesco Cinquemani, with production to take place in Rome. Both Baldwins will produce the titles from Minerva Pictures and Andrea Iervolino and Monica Bacardi’s Ilbe.

My love of found footage started, like many horror fans, with the all time classic The Blair Witch Project. But since that movie I have watched a lot of films in this genre and the quality is mixed to put things generously. For every [Rec], Creep, Host or Lake Mungo there are probably a dozen movies that are pretty damn terrible. But that doesn’t stop me watching each and every found footage movie I can get my hands on and Crone Wood is the latest.
Like many films in the genre, Crone Wood has a simple, if a bit unbelievable, story as we see a young couple have an enjoyable first meeting and decide that is a good enough reason to go camping in the woods immediately after.

Prison break movies are always interesting things. Sometimes you get the high-octane thrillers where action is the main focus, but other times you get the more cerebral, that focuses on the plans to escape, and what it took to pull off an almost impossible feat. Maze is one of the more thoughtful prison break movies, made all the more interesting because of the fact it was based around the Irish troubles.
