Pennington and Victoria had the right idea as they created the perfect place to disco, but didn’t have the moves to match the room. That’s when Holker made her entrance to help the design duo sell their space with a little boogie.

With decades of experience building luxury custom homes – and having renovated an entire resort in the Bahamas – the Renovation Island stars were prepared to go all the way in the series, which pits teams of pros from different HGTV shows against each other as they renovate four identical homes and vie to see who can add the most value to the property. But the couple faced stiff competition from their fellow HGTV stars, he shared with Showbiz Cheat Sheet in an interview ahead of the show’s March 6 premiere.

Update: A Cook County, Illinois judge has dismissed former Windy CIty Rehab cohost Donovan Eckhardt’s defamation claim against the program’s showrunners.
Judge Patricia O’Brien Sheahan ruled that Eckhardt’s contract called for legal disputes to be settled in a California courtroom. His attorney argued that it would be burdensome for witnesses to travel across the country to testify.
The judge rejected that argument, saying remote testimony could be allowed, obviating any physical travel needs.
Eckhardt is appealing the decision. The second season of the show featured his cohost Alison Victoria lamenting her partnership with Eckhardt and various business dealings.
Eckhardt and Victoria (real last name Gramenos) are still facing legal matters concerning work performed on the rehab houses featured on the first two seasons of the program.

The appraisals are in, and the team of Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt have won HGTV’s “Rock the Block” Season 2!
Yes, you read that right. The Kleinschmidts, who did not win a single individual challenge, took the whole damn thing. Their craftsman-style fun and functional home, appraised for $625,000.
Perhaps it was the basement bowling alley. (You also read that right.)
Ok, it definitely wasn’t the mini lanes — at least not from an appraisal standpoint. The Kleinschmidts definitely had the best backyard space, and their double dishwashers, dream laundry room and converted third-car garage might have sealed the deal.
Here’s the logline for the episode you just missed (a safe assumption if you’re here to find out the winner): “After six weeks, a winner gets crowned, a street sign gets named and bragging rights get claimed on the finale of ‘Rock the Block!’ Experts appraise the houses...

Windy City Rehab has been a ratings success for HGTV, drawing more than 20 million viewers since its season two premiere. It also ranked as the No. 1 cable program among M25-54, upscale P25-54, upscale W25-54 and upscale M25-54 and a top 5 cable program among P25-54 and W25-54 in its Tuesday timeslot.
Season 2 had ended in December under a cloud of legal woes for the show and host, designer and home reno expert Alison Victoria. Ty Pennington’s new HGTV series “Ty Breaker” has a pretty cool concept and a really good title — so which came first, the idea or the pun? TheWrap asked the “Trading Spaces” and “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” alum exactly that.
“The concept for the show came first and once we realized how important a big change to a certain area of the family’s home was … we realized it really was the ‘Ty Breaker’ in which design they eventually chose to go with,” Pennington told TheWrap. “And let’s face it — it’s a great title (laughs).”
“Here’s the crazy part, right? I don’t think there has ever been a show that, like, the person’s name — on HGTV — was in the title,” Pennington said. “So the fact that they did it, I was blown away. I was like, wow, that’s a bold move.”

Trading Spaces alum Ty Pennington is set to star in Ty Breaker, a new home improvement reality show, for HGTV.
The eight-episode series will follow Pennington as he helps desperate families decide whether to overhaul their current property or renovate a new one to better meet their needs. Joining Pennington will be fellow HGTV designers Alison Victoria (Windy City Rehab), Grace Mitchell (One of a Kind) and Sabrina Soto (The High Low Project). It’s slated to premiere in early 2021.
In each episode, Victoria, Mitchell or Soto will entice the family to choose an alternative home that can be renovated to fulfill their wish list, while Ty does all he can to persuade the family to stay. In the end, will it be Ty or his HGTV co-star who holds sway? No matter which option the homeowner selects, Ty and his expert co-host will create the perfect dream home for the family.

Ty Pennington is getting his own HGTV series, “Ty Breaker,” in which the former TLC “Trading Spaces” standout and ABC “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” host will help “desperate” families decide whether to rehab their current property and stay in it, or to renovate a new home to “better meet their needs,” according to the show’s logline.
Though it might sound crazy, “Ty Breaker” is actually Pennington’s first HGTV series. He’s only appeared on the popular cable channel as a guest star over four episodes of the recently rebooted “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” which was hosted by “Modern Family” star Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
(If the “Ty Breaker” concept sounds familiar, by the way, it’s because home-renovation series are understandably running out of approaches. Also, it works.)

Yet another lawsuit has emerged against the team behind Hgtv’s Windy City Rehab. This time, a family that invested $3 million in projects featured on the reality series are suing stars Alison Victoria Gramenos and Donovan Eckhardt. They accused them of “a deliberate and fraudulent scheme to misappropriate funds.”

The suit was filed Tuesday in Cook County circuit court by Michael Ward Jr., a former friend of Eckhardt; his brother, Thomas Ward; and their father, Michael Ward Sr. They...

Walmart has figured out a way to get its goods in front of shoppers – even if the effects of the coronavirus pandemic are keeping them from visiting its stores.
As part of an advertising agreement struck with Discovery, the large retailer will have products and ad messages woven into and around a new Hgtv series that has homeowners record themselves as they make over a room with the help of designers stationed remotely. The “self shot” series, “Design At Your Door,” debuts Thursday at 9 p.m. eastern.
Discovery has launched several so-called “quarantine” concepts featuring Guy Fieri or Amy Schumer with quick-turnaround deadlines to help fill its programming grid as the pandemic has forced normal production to cease. But the fast pivot has spurred the company’s ad-sales teams to work even faster to line up Madison Avenue support.
“Normally, we’d have 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 weeks, but not here,” says Greg Regis,...

Alison Victoria, the host of Hgtv’s Windy City Rehab, has the same concerns many homeowners have as the pandemic crisis continues. She has seven homes currently in various stages of construction and the clock is ticking on their loans in a luxury real estate market that’s currently dead and unlikely to quickly revive. The former Kitchen Crashers host addressed her worries this morning on the Leading From Home podcast, hosted by business podcaster John Roa as a segment on his The John Roa Show. The segment focuses on executives and leaders from around the country on how they are coping in this time of quarantine. In Victoria’s case, she’s pondering whether the major investments needed to rehab her properties will pay off in an uncertain future. Her Hgtv show focuses on rehab and flipping of residential homes in her native Chicago, but it’s also her full-time job.

The stars of Hgtv’s Windy City Rehab show apparently are on the outs. The Chicago Sun-Times reported on a series of angry texts from Alison Victoria to some disgruntled clients, saying that she does not want former contractor and partner Donovan Eckhardt “to “f— with my life or business any more than he already has.”
The angry message came after Eckhardt apparently bounced a check. Earlier, Victoria posted on Instagram that she was working with a new general contractor.
The text came to light as part of a filing in a lawsuit by a Chicago couple alleging shoddy workmanship and fraud. Victoria told the couple she would make good on Eckhardt’s portion of the check, which aimed to reimburse the couple for a new roof. The one they installed after the rehab leaked.
Eckhardt did not respond to a Sun-Times request for comment, and Victoria declined to comment on the lawsuit.
