Karen Gillan (Avengers Endgame) will play Mary Tudor in Fools, an upcoming period comedy about the monarch’s friendship with her female court jester. Patsy Ferran (Hot Milk) is the jester in the little-known historical tale. BAFTA- and Emmy-winning Guy Jenkin (Outnumbered) will direct from his own script.
Brenda Blethyn (Secrets & Lies) will also star, as will Jim Broadent (Moulin Rouge), who plays a scheming Cardinal.
The film is set in 1553. England’s first Queen, Mary I, takes the throne. The country is on the brink of chaos, and the ambitious Cardinal Pole plots to secure control. He has overlooked, however, a humble court jester. The pious, and apparently humorless queen finds relief in her brilliant slapstick routines and they strike up an unlikely friendship.
Cameras are set to roll later this year. Ryan Bennett of PaperEpic Productions will produce. Altitude Film Sales will handle international sales, starting at the European Film Market.

Studio Bones, known for producing shows like Fullmetal Alchemist and My Hero Academia, celebrates 25 years with a new original sci-fi anime for Crunchyroll. Metallic Rouge takes place in a world where humans and androids coexist. The story follows Rouge, an android girl (aka a Nean), who is on a mission on Mars with her investigative partner Naomi. The mission is to murder nine artificial humans who are hostile to the government called Alters. “If you like Blade Runner, you’ll love Metallic Rouge,” producer and president of Bones Masahiko Minami told TV Insider while talking to members of the press. Although the series uses the youth of its two leads to bring about a budding relationship and some humor, the heart of the story is delving into what makes a living being human and our relationship with technology. Metallic Rouge has been in production for over six years at Studio Bones,...

There are moments when heroes get tired of doing the right thing. Especially heroes who never planned to be heroes. And even heroes who thought for a long time that they were villains.
Doom Patrol Season 4 Episode 10 poses the question, "What if they all just give up at once?"
Rita, Cliff, Jane, and Larry are dying and content to run out the clock. Vic spends time with Silas and rethinks his hero persona, giving up on his attempt to be just-plain-Vic. And this leaves Rouge, the unlikeliest of heroes, alone to oppose Isabel/Immortus.
And that's no easy task.
Isabel has all the godhead powers of Immortus to serve the mega-egotistical and mercurial intentions and aspirations of Isabel Feathers.
I mean, it would've been a lot worse if Immortus had integrated with someone smarter, I guess. The Brain. Or Teddy the Butt.
The Butt-pocalypse future would be 100% guaranteed if Teddy had manifested Immortus's powers.

Call me a slow poke, but I literally just discovered how awesome Lana Del Rey — or Elizabeth Woolridge Grant — is. And yes, I had probably stumbled upon her name a trillion times way before her stunning strut at the Met Gala and still had absolutely no interest in looking her up (God knows why!), but needless to say, I'm officially hooked. Whether it is her husky, soulful voice, her characteristic facial features (those lips!) or her talented making of music videos by meshing unrelated antique footage together, Del Rey's old-Hollywood-meets-stoned-modern-pin-up-gir package (with a drop of awkwardness) has totally captivated my heart — and I don't care what you haters have to say about her lip implants or SNL bullshit!
Anyhow, just in time of the release of her latest music video "National Anthem," where she plays the forever fashion icon Jackie O while rapper A$AP Rocky plays JFK, what's a...

Egads, are your ears still ringing after this weekend’s Saturday Night Live? For whatever reason, the Russell Brand hosted episode was one of the shoutiest since the days of Chris Farley, which has left my cochlea buzzing for the last few days. It’s sort of a shame, really, because I am normally quite fond of Russell Brand’s work and was excited to see what he would do when adhering to the rules of sketch comedy. His monologue was one of the best in quite a long time, but the rest of the episode was tainted by the sheer volume of his shrill accent. While I still feel that Get Him To The Greek is an underrated work, I fear that this weekend’s hosting duties turned me off the prospect of going to see Arthur*. However, Brand (and the cast’s) general shoutiness was Not the worst part of the episode.

Angela Sarafyan came onto the "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn" set last November and was warmly welcomed by the director as well as her castmates. When MTV News recently spoke to Sarafyan, who plays vampire Tia of the Egyptian coven, she gushed about her experience on the movie set.
"I went on-set and met Bill Condon and he is truly such a great, great person," she said. "I'm honestly humbled by the fact that he is kind and generous and, with the enormity of this film, has been so graceful about giving every actor their time. He immediately put me on a great starting point. We were all in this incredible Egyptian casbah in Baton Rouge [back in November] and it was quite magnificent. It was quite easy.
