WWE didn’t need to wait until Friday night to lay the smackdown on its employees, as mass layoffs were initiated on Thursday following the merger of the pro wrestling giant and UFC, led by Endeavor.
More than 100 employees — mostly from the WWE — got some sweet chin music this week that they were being released amid the move to cut costs in the Endeavor purchase. While not everybody will be a household name, there are still some major sports entertainers on the list. These include 19-year veteran Dolph Ziggler, a former WWE World Heavyweight Champion and Money in the Bank winner; Shelton Benjamin, who had one of the longest Intercontinental Championship reigns ever (putting him in the company of The Rock and Mr. Perfect); and the vastly underutilized Elias (we hope Ezekial still has a job at least…).

Welcome to this week’s Impact Wrestling review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and I thought of a better name for Impact…Glory Wrestling Combat. F–k you! It’s good! You’d call it Glory for short and it’d be a great way to remake Impact in the same vein as Pride, Bellator or Pancrase. You already have Bound For Glory, so the biggest show of the year now has a luster to it that it arguably didn’t have before, because it is the only show that has the name of the promotion in it. Shut up! It is so a good idea…or not. Whatever. F–k you. We have…wait…I forgot to write my Slammiversary review. Here’s the score for each match:

Welcome to this review of Impact Wrestling’s biggest event of the year, Slammiversary… Made even bigger the past couple of years thanks to a certain wrestling promotion “future endeavouring” people in time for their 90-day non complete clauses to expire in time for this PPV event. As always for pay per views, Spoilers lie ahead!!

Now, it remains to be seen if this leads to a great event or not, but since Slammiversary tends to be a hit, we can at least say that the odds look good. Welcome to this week’s column of The Last Week In Wrestling, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have Mr. Rogers here with us. Mr. Rogers: Hello my television neighbor. I wanted to talk to you about violence. When people watch violence, that doesn’t make them violent. Violence is wanting to be violent and then choosing to be violent. When you watch wrestling, you are watching it because you want to watch wrestling. Watching wrestling doesn’t always have a meaning besides wanting to watch wrestling. Wrestling can be fun, but we should always remember that wrestling can hurt the people that do it, because it is violent. When wrestlers get hurt, that’s not your fault. However, you should always try to empathize with them when they are in pain. Mr. Robinson: Hello boys and girls! I’m in pain listening to this old-ass...

Welcome to this week’s Impact Wrestling review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have the fallout from Violent By Design becoming the Tag Champions last week. It’s times like this that I’m reminded of the story of Stukanga Gaitoo. Stukanga Gaitoo was a farmer’s hand in ancient Mesopotamia, when the wind was dry and hot and cracked you across the back like a frayed whip. Stukanga loved the farmer’s daughter, but could not afford to marry her. So, when the moon rose upon the cusp of night, Stukanga returned to the farm and stole the wheat from the fields. Stukanga then sold the wheat to the rich merchant Makolinga. Makolinga bought it for half of what it was worth and made Stukanga very wealthy. Stukanga returned and lied about who had stole the wheat…and said that Makolinga had stolen the wheat.

Welcome to this week’s Impact Wrestling review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have…Don Callis is possibly done as Executive Vice President. Hey hey! Alright! Callis has been rumored to be a sexual predator for some time and has possibly been a predator at Impact. If Callis is in fact a good man of good stock then the possible loss of him at this level is only wanted due to the overall malaise that his run at the top of management has allowed. Impact, like All Elite Wrestling, feels like a league that just doesn’t know what it wants to be and that all falls to the people running the show. It’s funny seeing two promotions that are interesting yet faulty in a working agreement. Maybe two wrongs will make a right. I hope that Impact starts to get better. Well, let’s get right to it.

Welcome to this week’s Impact Wrestling review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have the big finale before No Surrender, which includes the contract signing between Tommy Dreamer and Rich Swann…a contract signing? Jesus. Wrestling promoters wonder why no one wants to watch wrestling anymore and it’s because of all the damn talking. Silly or serious, talking in wrestling doesn’t draw and never will. Wrestling is not acting, even though there is certainly some performing when you sell moves or have a character that is a bit different from you that you are portraying. You’d think that on an occasion where you are pushing a match of respect between a gracious champion and an honorable challenger, you’d want to tease that the match in question could be in jeopardy. By having a World Title match featuring Swann fighting a challenger...
