Country-rock stalwarts Alabama have enlisted Old Dominion, Shenandoah, and more for June Jam Xviii, taking place June 1 at the Vfw Fairgrounds in Fort Payne, Alabama.
Alabama will close out the day, which will also feature performances from Lee Greenwood, Montgomery Gentry (featuring Eddie Montgomery), Mark Willis, Exile, John Berry, Taylor Hicks, the Malpass Brothers, and the Castellows. A special surprise guest — described only as a “hitmaking singer-songwriter” in a press release — will take the stage, too, though obviously no further details were given.
The June Jam Festival returned last year after a 26-year hiatus.

Years ago, Troy Gentry and Eddie Montgomery had a difficult discussion: what to do if the other died first. More than just buddies, their musical bond forged the hit making country duo Montgomery Gentry. They had a musical legacy to protect and fans to consider. “We said to each other, ‘Hey, we want Montgomery Gentry to keep going,’” Montgomery says. “It’s weird, I always thought it was going to be me that went down first.”

There wasn't a dry eye in the house after the 2017 Cma Awards paid tribute to Troy Gentry. They sang an emotional rendition of Montgomery Gentry's 2002 hit, "My Town." As the cameras panned to the crowd, Gentry's widow, Angie Gentry, and their 15-year-old daughter, Kaylee Gentry, wept. Other country music stars were seen wiping away...

American Idol Recap
After Bacon passed the torch back to Seacrest, the top seven finalists were shown chatting about their performances and shared what they’d most like to do with a brand new Ford Mustang. Then, finally, the show got around to hearing Randy Jackson’s personal recap of Wednesday night.
Jackson, basically parroting the judges, mentioned Dexter Robert’s desperate need to make the songs he chooses his own. The former judge had similar advice for Cj Harris and wondered if Jess Meuse – who was harshly critiqued by the judges Wednesday – had done enough onstage to get America’s votes. The "American Idol" theme for the Top 12 is "Home." They should have to sing songs with their home state or city in the title -- "Sweet Home Alabama" would get a lot of play.
1. Jena Irene, "Suddenly I See," KT Tunstall
Nice choice for her tone of voice and the peppiness is fun, though the background is giving us a seizure. Also, we're disappointed that on "you can see she's a beautiful girl, she's a beautiful girl" that Jena didn't do the little minor run down on the second "girl." But it was a good start. No real missteps, but also not something that blew the roof off. A little blah. She could've done more with it, which is then exactly what Harry Connick Jr. says. For sure.

Last Thursday's "American Idol" results weren't entirely shocking. I'd predicted that Kristen O'Connor would be eliminated and, for several reasons, she was. However, it was a minor surprise to see all of the Bottom Three slots go to women, which suggests either a shift in talent from last season, or a shift in voting patterns. It's too early, though, to know if we should start worrying about all of the girls, or just the weaker ones. Wednesday's theme is "Home," which should be roughly interchangeable from last week's theme, which involved songs that made a personal statement. After all, if your personal statement didn't say anything about where you come from, how personal could it have been? We'll see how things go after the break! 8 p.m. Et. Preparation montage! Can each of the Alabama contestants sing "Sweet Home Alabama"? "Who will bring the house down tonight?" asks Ryan Seacrest.

Country gal Miranda Lambert got into the Kentucky Derby spirit Friday night - with a little help from her girlfriends. "The House That Built Me" singer, 29, danced, drank, pumped her fists in the air and eventually performed at the annual black-tie Barnstable Brown Gala event, hosted by Grey Goose, held at a mansion near Churchill Downs on Derby Eve. The Texas native and animal lover was dressed like a southern belle - complete with a peach fascinator perched on her head - hung out at a table flanked by four girlfriends and looked like she was having a blast during the other performances.

There've been complaints that last night's American Idol, themed around the hits and performances of past Idol winners, was old-fashioned and schmaltzy. Hey, morons: That's why I watchAmerican Idol. I want ancient, Wayne Newton-y performances from Mormon teenagers in pain. I want the new Rosemary Clooney to woo me in a collared denim dress that her great-grandmother weaved. I want singers who pick songs by Kenny Rogers or Alannah Myles to feel "naughty." Bring me the home-schooled!
I loved last night's episode, even when truly awful songs like Ruben Studdard's "Flying Without Wings" threatened to curbstomp us with hopelessness. For me, ranking the top 10 was a cinch -- though apparently I disagree with most of you about how interesting Angela Miller is. Guys, her emotions range from "happy" to "happy, but quiet sometimes." Come on.

It's been a year of changes for American Idol, with new judges and tweaks to the format. Tonight, the Top 10 finalists have traveled back to Hollywood to begin fighting their way to first place.
This week's theme is "Songs of the Idols," which means any song that has been sung on the show by a previous winner or any song released by a winner, and they'll need to put their own twist on those songs to make them original. Our pal Jimmy Iovine will be back to mentor them along the way. Let's get to it...
Curtis Finch Jr. wants to be a modern day Luther Vandross. He channels his inner Mantasia and sings Fantasia's "I Believe." It's my opinion that the only person who comes close to doing as well on this song as Fantasia did was Joshua Ledet, and Curtis' performance falls short. The song never peaked...

Don’t get on Nicki Minaj’s case for showing up late to American Idol‘s Top 10 performance night. Let’s be honest: If you had known you were going to have to endure her fellow judges heaping praise (with a side dish of almost imperceptible criticism) on Curtis Finch Jr.’s dreary, off-key Fantasia cover, you’d have tuned in 10 minutes past the hour yourself.
Okay, okay…maybe we should throw a little shade at Nicki. I mean, how many millions of dollars is she paid for working three hours per week at The House That Kelly Clarkson Built?...

Billy Ray Cyrus' daughter, pop star and angular haircut model Miley Cyrus, announced that she was supporting Barack Obama in a recent Tweet, but he had been planning to keep his own opinions on the forthcoming election to himself.
"The only thing I know for sure about anything is that I don't know nothing," the country singer and actor tells the Huffington Post Canada when asked about his feelings on the candidates. "Second of all, probably the last thing the world wants to hear is another celebrity opinion."
Cyrus admits that many people have been asking him about his views on the current situation, though, and for good reason. In the two decades since the singer was thrust into the spotlight with his breakthrough hit, "Achy Breaky Heart," he has been associated with both sides of the political spectrum.
"I do have an interesting background, politically," Cyrus admits.

Act of Valor was a pretty awesome movie, and I'm excited to hear that Relativity Media and the Bandito Brothers are looking to team up to make a TV show based around it! It's about freakin' time someone developed a Navy Seal TV series! If they are able to bring the authenticity, realism and badassery that the movie had, then this could end up being an amazing show! The series will tell the true stories of missions carried out by the SEALs.
For those of you who haven't seen the movie yet, you might want to check it out. The acting might not be the best, but that's because they used real Navy SEALs. It's definitely entertaining though. There's no word on if they'll use Seal team members for the series or not. The plan is to shop the series around to broadcast and cable networks. The press release also...

Fall behind keeping up with headlines on Twitter? Never fear, EW.com has your round-up of this week’s biggest American Idol news.
Baseball stadiums across the nation are hosting opening day for their respective teams, and that means you may see one of your favorite Idol alums out on the field singing the national anthem. On Thursday, that honor went to season 10 Idol, Haley Reinhart, who sang a beautiful rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner” before the Detroit Tigers home opener against the Boston Red Sox. (Click on the photo below to see her performance.)

With the rest of the country often complaining (and often rightfully so) that entertainment is essentially made on two coasts for those living on those two coasts, it'll be interesting to see how Relativity Media's patriotic/jingoistic American counter-terrorism war film "Act Of Valor" performs overall when it hits theaters on February 24, considering it's mostly aimed at (and certainly being marketed to) the middle of the country. In keeping step with the values of the film, the soundtrack is plucked straight from the heartland and features brand new original songs written and inspired by the movie, from contemporary country stars like Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Sugarland, Trace Adkins, Wynonna Judd, Montgomery Gentry and more. The soundtrack is due digitally and in stores on February 21. "Act of Valor" (written by "300" scribe Kurt Johnstad) centers on the story of a group of active-duty Navy SEALs who...

We already know President Obama likes to listen to (and occasionally sing) Al Green songs. And he's told us that his iPod has a bit of Jay-z and Lil Wayne on it. But with the toughest re-election campaign of his career on the horizon, what music will Obama 2012 be using to pump up crowds at rallies?
Judging by a playlist uploaded to Spotify this week, it looks like a cheerful, noncontroversial mix of classic rock, country, soul and R&B, but, alas, no hip-hop.
Instead, in a clear bid to appeal to the broad middle, Obama chose songs by beloved soul acts like Booker T. & the Mg's ("Green Onions"), Earth Wind & Fire ("Got to Get You Into My Life"), The Impressions ("Keep on Pushing") and, yes, Green (the pleading...
