The Will & Grace revival is welcoming back one very special guest star.
People has an exclusive sneak peek at this week’s episode, in which Harry Connick Jr. reprises his role as Grace’s ex-husband Leo.
In the scene, Grace (Debra Messing) wakes up in a hospital bed — only to be shocked to learn that Leo, who is still listed as her emergency contact, happens to be standing right in front of her.
“How heavy was that sedation?” she asks the nurse. “Because I feel like my ex-husband is standing right there.”

It’s been 18 years since NBC famously gave the cast of Will & Grace free Porsches to celebrate the show’s success. But inquiring minds want to know: What ever happened to the lavish cars?
The stars sat down with Andy Cohen for a Town Hall special at the SiriusXM Studios on Monday — ahead of the the revival of the hit NBC sitcom — and revealed what became of their matching Porsche Boxsters.
“I had just rescued a little dog, and I used to take her with me everywhere. I’m not like a car person, especially sports cars,” Megan Mullally began.

Can the small screen ever really capture the life of an actor? There’s no shortage of television shows about acting—maybe it’s all that drama?—but these 13 fictional performers are (for better or worse) some of our favorite fake actors on TV. Can you relate? Titus Andromedon (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”)Played by the formidable Tituss Burgess, Titus Andromedon is a fairly realistic portrayal of the working New York actor. His survival job (waiting tables at a spooky-themed singing restaurant for tourists) keeps him busy in between auditions. And he sees his rival (played by Tony winner James Monroe Iglehart) at every single open call. Being an NYC actor as tough—Titus knows! Jack McFarland (“Will & Grace”)Who could forget “Just Jack?” Sean Hayes plays the loveable (if not-so-talented) Jack McFarland on this hit series, an over-the-top actor-singer-dancer (and caterer, sales clerk, and more). While Jack is a caricature to most real-life performers,...

The Emmys are my favorite televised awards ceremony. Why? Because you can win multiple times for the same part, you can lose multiple times for the same part, and you can win by surprise, in a streak, or in an upset. The drama is more varied than the Oscars, and it’s a little harder to predict who will win at the Emmys — yet it’s also rarer that I have a major problem with who takes home the hardware.
Just ahead of this Thursday’s Emmy nominations, here are 10 classic Emmy wins that remind me why I love this ceremony so much.
1. Jackee becoming the first black Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy (’88)
Presenter Bruce Willis may have mispronounced her name, but Jackee (Harry)’s triumph at the ’88 Emmys in the Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series category for 227 still sizzles with saucy supremacy. “Does this mean I get more money?...

I'm rooting for CBS' Partners, and not just because it's a sitcom featuring two gay characters in prominent roles: It's because when new shows about gay characters are pitched, risk-averse TV suits say things like, "Yes, your show might work! But before we give it a shot, we'll have to see how Partners does first." That's right: There are people in positions of power who believe that if one sitcom about gay people fails, others are doomed too.
It's unfair and doesn't make sense, but the bottom line is if Partners gains traction and a following, we're more likely to see other multicamera shows with openly gay characters. I'm happy for The New Normal's full season pickup and Modern Family's continued success, but the world of multicamera is its own quaint hamlet of delights, and I'd like to see more gay characters on TV who crack jokes and pause for the laugh track.

The results are in! We asked readers to name their favorite TV characters of all time and thousands responded. This year, for the first time, we weren't just asking about favorite gay TV characters. Folks could vote for characters of either gender - and all persuasions. Of course, this being AfterElton we expected gay characters to figure prominently on this list - and they do - but it is interesting to see what female and straight TV roles also resonated with the AfterElton readership.
Before we get to the actual rankings, here are a few statistics.
First, the top fifty came from a broad range of TV shows. Thirty programs were represented, and the two that made the best showing (Glee and Modern Family) placed only four characters each in the rankings.
Second, female characters nabbed 15 of the top 50 spots, or 30%.

In discussing how Kevin Keller came to Riverdale, creator Dan Parent says while it happened organically, the impact has been huge in unexpected ways. And when there’s a positive gay role model in print or film, it can be meaningful to a family dealing with gay issues. As far as negative experiences, there are always the haters out there, but they’re not really worth the ink on this page, so who cares about them?"

So that controversial Newsweek article "Straight Jacket" -- which suggests that no gay actor can ever successfully play a straight character -- is still rocking the internet. Or at least Twitter. The article's author Ramin Setoodeh is also the Oscar blogger for Newsweek and I swear my fury at him has nothing to do with the fact that I'm terrific at Oscar blogging and have been for a decade but I never get employed by household name magazines to write about them ;) I swear it. I didn't actually know he was their Oscar blogger until today.
Mr. Setoodeh is gay himself -- as he and his new enemy Kristin Chenoweth were both quick to point out -- but that's really neither here nor there in this discussion because homophobia knows no sexual orientation. It can exist in anyone. And whether or not he intended the cynical piece to be self-serving...

There are so many movie and television faces nominated for the Tony Award this year that one begins to worry about how any stateside stage actor can earn a living. The answer, appears to be get famous in another medium in order to get plum stage roles.
Jude Law (Hamlet) is equally at home on screen or stage
This can work against the audience, this self destructive drive to only see the familiar, if it robs them of great stage trained actors in meaty roles. But thankfully this isn't a problem with actors who are adept at changing their "scale" for any medium. Take The Lovely Laura Linney, for instance, who no one would dare accuse of being out of her element whether she's on the silver screen, the living room telly or treading the boards on Broadway.

We asked you which gay or bisexual TV characters you think are the best, and you told us – with tens of thousands of votes cast.
Now we have the results.
But first, a few interesting statistics.
We have quite a few familiar faces – characters who made our last poll of the best gay and bisexual characters two and a half years ago – and a few missing ones, namely Vince D’Angelo (from Will & Grace), George Huang (from Law & Order: Svu), and Waylon Smithers (from The Simpsons), all of whom didn’t even make the top 50 this time around.
Meanwhile, we also have many new faces – from shows that have debuted since our last poll.

To fans of the sitcom Will & Grace, it always seemed like a given that Sean Hayes was gay. How could he not be? He was just too good at playing Jack McFarland, the flamboyant, out-and-proud neighbor who often stole the show from the series' nominal leads. As for why Hayes waited so long to speak so candidly about his personal life, well, there's one simple reason: It was—and despite his sudden forthcomingness, remains—nobody's business. He explained: "The lines for 'Embers' came to me when I'd been watching a lot of war films. I like Almodovar, his films have emotional endings that are rarely tied up. And I love Mike Leigh. My girlfriend bought me 'Abigail's Party' for Christmas and it's fantastic."...

Just Jack has criticised Lady GaGa for being a "rip-off" and sounding like a "a weird singing robot". The star admitted that he struggled to differentiate between Lady GaGa and other similar artists because they showed no originality. "A lot of modern songs rely on Auto-Tune too much - not as a tool for tuning, but for giving vocals that weird brittle effect," he told Digital Spy. "It makes people like Rihanna, Lady GaGa and Katy Perry all the f**king same. I like organic elements in music. I like a vocal that sounds like it came out of someone's mouth rather than a weird singing (more)...

The singer, real name Jack Allsopp, admitted that he had experimented with a range of styles for the new LP. "My records have always been pretty varied as I don't stick to a particular style of music," he told Digital Spy. "There's some disco on there, some electro, some folk. There's also some odd, slightly out-of-time percussion, and I've really tried to keep some warmth in the album." This is the video clip for the new Just Jack song "Embers", off of his upcoming album All Night Cinema. There are many reasons to love Just Jack - his 2007 album Overtones is very excellent indeed - and this is but another. Despite the fact that the track itself is wonderful, the clip is just astounding. Recalls the days of the likes of Jonze, Cunningham, Romanek and Gondry who actually tried to do something with the format they had been given.
It's an absolute stunner.

Television matters. Who and what we see on our screens each week tells us a great deal about who and what is relevant in society, who has power, and who doesn’t. That’s why AfterElton.com pays such close attention to the shows that have gay characters and gay storylines, analyzing what each new character and plot twist says about the acceptance of gay and bisexual men in today’s world.
Television programming as we know it today came into existence approximately seventy years ago. However, it took thirty-five years for the first semi-regularly recurring gay character to appear, on The Corner Bar, an 1972 ABC show that lasted for fifteen episodes and featured Vincent Schiavelli as Peter Panama. Over the next several years, gay characters popped up on other short-lived shows including Hot L Baltimore and The Nancy Walker Show, but it wasn’t until 1977 and Soap that gay...
