The CW is ending two of its longest-running series, this season, but fans of Arrow and The 100 were handed a glimmer of hope about the two potential spinoffs.
The CW President and CEO Mark Pedowitz said Thursday that both projects were still “very much alive.”
“They are very much in active discussions to see what we can do,” he said on a call to discuss the network’s fall and 2021 schedule. “I’ve had many discussions with Warner Bros, we have a strategy involved — hopefully we can pull it off.”

There are just a handful of Arrow episodes left before the series signs off for good.
Thankfully, a spinoff set in the year 2040 is in the works, and fans will get their first taste of it during Arrow Season 8 Episode 9, airing as a backdoor pilot on January 21.
But what will actually happen in the episode, you ask?
The CW has dropped the official synopsis, which sheds light on the plot.
"It’s the year 2040 in Star City and Mia Queen (Katherine McNamara) has everything she could have ever wanted," it reads.
"However, when Laurel (Katie Cassidy) and Dinah (Juliana Harkavy) suddenly show up in her life again, things take a shocking turn and her perfect world is upended."
"Laurel and Dinah are tracking a kidnapping victim with direct ties to Mia and they need her help. Knowing it will change everything, Mia can’t help but be a hero and she,...

We’re getting a better idea of what CW’s backdoor pilot for its Arrow spinoff is going to look like. The network shared an official description today for the episode starring Katherine McNamara, Katie Cassidy and Juliana Harkavy.
In the January 21 episode titled “Green Arrow and the Canaries”, “It’s the year 2040 in Star City and Mia Queen (McNamara) has everything she could have ever wanted. However, when Laurel (Cassidy) and Dinah (Harkavy) suddenly show up in her life again, things take a shocking turn and her perfect world is upended.”

Mia Smoak’s life post-“Crisis on Infinite Earths” is finally starting to take shape, with an official synopsis for the Arrow spinoff backdoor pilot starring Katherine McNamara’s archer, as well as Katie Cassidy’s Laurel and Juliana Harkavy’s Dinah.

At the time of this writing, I’ve viewed only the first episode of Arrow‘s eighth season. In addition to having kind things to say about it, my theory of Oliver Queen journeying the multiverse at the behest of the Monitor has been proven true. Still, it appears as though not each installment will take place in parallel universes.
Take episode 8×04, “Present Tense,” for instance. Based on what we’ve been permitted to see concerning that one, Ollie will fight alongside the usual members of Team Arrow for what may or may not be a standard mission. I say that because, believe it or not, a new Deathstroke is in town.
Before you get ahead of yourself by saying John Diggle Jr. is being discussed, I must stress how we’re talking about a Deathstroke other than Slade Wilson running around present-day Star City. And though this masked mercenary...

From where I’m sitting, it’s raining Deathstrokes.
Years after Arrow introduced its own version of Slade Wilson played by Manu Bennett, DC Universe’s Titans now has their own spilling blood, with Esai Morales donning the dichotomous mask. Even with that arc currently unfolding, Arrow has created a Deathstroke of tomorrow in the form of John Diggle Jr. (Charlie Barnett).
Believe it or not though, yet another may soon be added to the tally, as the official synopsis for episode 8×04, “Present Tense,” promises that a new evildoer taking up the mantle will arrive in Star City, reading:
Echo Kellum Guest Stars – When a mysterious new Deathstroke appears in Star City, Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Team Arrow insist on taking down this villain themselves. Meanwhile reeling from the loss of one of their own, the future Team Arrow figures out a new way to try and stop JJ. Kristin Windell...

While Arrow gets ready to drop its bow, The CW is planning a spinoff series centered on its female vigilante group, The Canaries.
Arrow might just see its legacy maintained on The CW after the series – the inaugural entry of the network’s DC Comics-adapting namesake Arrowverse shows – ends its seminal small screen run with an abbreviated final frame this fall. That’s because the network has put a spinoff project into development, this one centered on The Canaries.
The CW has corralled Arrow actresses Katherine McNamara, Katie Cassidy and Juliana Harkavy to star in a prospective spinoff series centered on The Canary Network, a.k.a. The Canaries, the female vigilante group fighting crime in an overrun Star City in Season 7’s 2040-set future-flashes. Arrow is set to take its final bow in 2020, but the series that started The CW's DC Universe may not be completely over.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, a female-fronted spinoff featuring Katie Cassidy, Juliana Harkavy, and Katherine McNamara is in the works at The CW.
That means we could be in for a TV series featuring canaries Laurel Lance and Dinah Drake, but how would McNamara's Mia Smoak fit into the mix?
Per reports, Smoak will formally continue the Arrow mantle that from her father, Oliver Queen, thus keeping some of the storylines alive beyond the eighth and final season of the series.
Instead of ordering a formal pilot for the series, a backdoor pilot will air as part of Arrow Season 8, so it's entirely possible that this show could be ordered for the 2020-21 TV season, effectively keeping the Arrow legacy alive.

Variety has learned that The CW is developing a new “Arrow” spinoff that would focus on the crime-fighting team The Canaries.
The show would star Katherine McNamara as Mia Smoak, Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance, and Juliana Harkavy as Dinah Drake. An episode of the upcoming final season of “Arrow” will serve as a backdoor pilot for the potential series.

The CW is moving forward with another Arrow spin-off headlined by Katherine McNamara, Katie Cassidy and Juliana Harkavy reprising their Arrow roles in the new superhero series.

The project, which comes from Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros Television, is being set up as a backdoor pilot that will air as episode from the upcoming eighth and final season of Arrow.

The CW is not done with the world of “Arrow.” The network is developing a spinoff that would take place well into the future, focusing on Oliver Queen’s (Stephen Amell) daughter who takes up her father’s mantle.
Katherine McNamara was introduced in the last season of “Arrow” as the adult version of Queen’s daughter, Mia Smoak, during a flash-forward scene set in the year 2040. McNamara would star in the new series with Katie Cassidy and Juliana Harkavy, who have portrayed two different versions of Black Canary (now known as “The Canaries”).
The potential series will get a backdoor pilot during the final season of “Arrow,” which begins Oct. 15. It would be the seventh show set inside the “Arrowverse,” along with “The Flash,” “Legends of Tomorrow,” “Supergirl” and newcomer “Batwoman.” “Arrow” will end its eight-season run sometime early next year. McNamara was promoted to a series regular for the final season.

Once Arrow fans had a chance to digest the official synopsis for the season finale, none of us could help pondering which returning familiar faces it was referring to. Whether your suspicions be directed toward Talia al Ghul, Ricardo Diaz or Curtis Holt, these are all entirely valid choices, but some recently presented evidence may hint at who one of them may be.
Believe it or not, the network has released two more images from next week’s episode, “Living Proof,” and they feature none other than Colin Donnell’s Tommy Merlyn. I don’t know why these couldn’t have been included in the original set released earlier this week, but you’re free to check them out below.

You know, I think it’s about time we give up hope on Emiko Queen redeeming herself. Not only did she allow for her father’s boat to be sabotaged at sea years ago, but she also killed her mentor, Dante, just last week on Arrow. And if that weren’t enough, the Ninth Circle leader literally brought the house down on Oliver last night during “Confessions” by trapping him in an explosion.
Obviously, the Emerald Archer isn’t dead because we wouldn’t have a TV show to watch otherwise, but he’s certainly seen better days. For the most part, his teammates feature in the photos promoting next week’s adventure, “Living Proof,” but you’ll find him in the accompanying gallery nonetheless.

Much to the chagrin of a good percentage of the viewing audience, series stalwart Emily Bett Rickards will soon be exiting Arrow, opting not to stick around for the final season. And to add to the surprise, she’s supposedly set to bounce before the season finale arrives.
Of course, theories have been swirling as to just how Felicity Smoak will be written off the series. I have my own ideas, but the freshly released synopsis for season 7’s penultimate episode, “Living Proof,” may provide some hints:
Oliver Is Put To The Test — Oliver (Stephen Amell) finds himself in a precarious position. Scpd shows up with a warrant for Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards). Gordon Verheul directed the episode written by Oscar Balderrama & Sarah Tarkoff (#721). Original airdate 5/6/2019.

When the first promo dropped for next week’s episode of Arrow, “Star City 2040,” it became apparent that the Powers That Be are holding their cards close to the vest. Then again, that’s something we’ve grown used to over the course of the current season because there’s been more secrecy surrounding the series as of late than ever before.
But whereas the aforementioned trailer more so teased Mia Smoak’s upbringing, the images released by the network focus on what’s actually going down in 2040. Because of that, I doubt we’ll see anything of whatever’s been unfolding in 2019 involving Oliver, Emiko and Dante, with that probably being saved for “Inheritance” on March 25th.
As we examine the gallery below, I can’t even begin to guess why Mia, Connor Hawke and the rest of the gang are dressed like they’re living out a scenario from Eyes Wide Shut.

The new Green Arrow is unmasked and Oliver Queen gets back in the saddle in a satisfying, packed episode of Arrow
This Arrow review contains spoilers.
Arrow Season 7 Episode 8
In this week's wall-to-wall episode of Arrow, the new Green Arrow is unmasked, and by the episode’s end, we even know what that means. Oliver Queen is out of prison and he isn’t the only one having trouble adjusting. Most of the old gang is back together, and Dinah finds a way to get Ollie back in the suit, if not the hood. And in the future, it seems Felicity will have at least one mysterious collaborator, as William and friends learn more about what happened.
So about that new Green Arrow: I agree with Rene, she needs a new name. Congrats to everyone who guessed it was a woman, and especially those who had their money on a secret Queen kid.

This season on Arrow, viewers have thus far had two major questions on their minds: when will Oliver Queen get out of prison and just who is the new Emerald Archer running around Star City? It looks like the former will occur soon enough during “The Slabside Redemption,” but we now have a pretty solid lead on the latter.

Felicity Makes Certain Decisions For Her Family — Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) stands by her recent decisions regarding her family. Meanwhile, Diggle (David Ramsey) and Lyla (Audrey Marie Anderson) continue to look into the Dante painting that Curtis (Echo Kellum) found.

When Colton Haynes was confirmed to return as a series regular for Arrow season 7 this past spring, the fanbase understandably began dancing in the streets. After all, who wouldn’t want to see Star City’s Dynamic Duo of Green Arrow and Arsenal reunite and kick some serious butt?
Well, at the moment, it’s looking like the dream team coming together for another tour has been put on hold because not only is Oliver Queen behind bars, but Roy Harper’s role on the show seems to be confined to flash forwards for the foreseeable future.
You see, those new flash forwards kicked off by showing Ollie’s son, William, venturing to Lian Yu at some point in the future, only to come across a grizzled and reclusive Roy. How both get to there is anybody’s guess, though I certainly can’t wait to find out.

The Arrow Season 7 premier manages to both wipe the slate clean and nod in the direction of the show's early glory
This Arrow review contains spoilers.
Arrow Season 7 Episode 1
Arrow crackles with the promise of its early seasons in the first episode of its seventh season. The metaphorical slate is wiped clean, yet in many ways, it’s back to basics: a man in a hood with a list. “You have failed this city.” Violence against bad guys is no problem. Time-based structure. The Glades are a mess and no one cares. But there are also important improvements here: Oliver can’t make decisions for others or completely close himself off. And vigilantism is no simple way out.
It’s odd to say it, but aside from Felicity and William being attacked, the artists formerly known as Team Arrow are doing pretty great. They’re all generally finding other ways to be heroes,...

With only one week separating us from the season premiere of Arrow, you could say that anticipation levels have been kicked up a notch. Perhaps realizing this, The CW have opted to release yet another trailer for the DC TV cornerstone series, and it can be viewed at the top of this article.
Suffice it to say, there’s certainly much to catch the eye, so it’s highly recommended that you watch the footage at least a few times. Arguably, the most notable thing here is the reveal of the Longbow Hunters, the fabled group of assassins that returning villain Ricardo Diaz is bringing to Star City.
Also of interest are the teases given when it comes to the subject of which members of Team Arrow are still pursuing the vigilante lifestyle now that Oliver Queen is behind bars. From the look of it, Wild Dog seems to be...

If I didn’t know better, I’d say the cast and crew of Arrow were engaging in a pornographic game of Mad Libs over the summer, because some of the latest teasers for season 7 have had to do with a nude prison shower brawl and an all-male pillow fight. Seriously, I’m not making any of this up.
All that aside, it’s a solid bet we’ll soon be witness to one of the darkest and most brutal years this series has yet to offer. After all, when someone like Oliver Queen gets sent to a Supermax prison, you’d have to be a fool to think his stay will be equivalent to that of a day camp.
Of course, lead actor Stephen Amell has had his share of fun hyping what’s to come by releasing the teasers discussed above, not to mention others that may be hinting at the next crossover.

Now that the season premiere of Arrow is a little over two weeks away, the network is finally willing to cough up a synopsis. I mean, we have been spoiled in recent memory by a new trailer and more information regarding December’s “Elseworlds” crossover, but it’s nice to have a description to go along with all that.
As was to be expected, Oliver Queen’s incarceration is discussed for the bulk of it, though it’s quite interesting to learn that he could get out earlier on good behavior. Then again, if he keeps on getting into brutal fights in the shower area, our hero will eventually attract attention.
So, without further delay, here’s the synopsis for “Inmate 4587”:

To say that the past few months have been a trying time for Team Arrow is quite the understatement. I mean, Oliver Queen was able to get by when Mr. Terrific, Black Canary and Wild Dog decided to go off and do their own thing, but the exit of Thea compounded with John Diggle’s decision to sign up with Argus was almost too much for the Emerald Archer to take. For a brief period, he went back to basics, but it appears we’re ready to return to the status quo now that he’s been acquitted of all charges.
In fact, one could say Ollie’s recent trial is what helped pull the team back together. After all, it forced each hero to step back and examine the situation from a different perspective, with some of them likely pondering what it’s like to be in the other’s shoes.

Although Arrow did its best Law & Order impression last night, that didn’t mean it wasn’t a nail-biter of the highest order. In fact, it had many twists and turns to be enjoyed, in addition to Ricardo Diaz learning that he can’t win in every situation.
Long story short, we had two MVPs yesterday evening, with the obvious one being Christopher Chance Aka the Human Target, who posed as both Tommy Merlyn and the judge who overrode the jury’s decision, and acquitted Oliver Queen. The other, of course, was that of Black Siren, whose testimony went against Diaz’s wishes, thus making an incredible stride in her path toward redemption.
So, now that the Dragon’s Plan A has failed, he’s going with his backup – and that means all-out war on Team Arrow and those they hold most dear. In fact, the trailer at the...

Well, it sure did take some time getting here, but tonight’s episode of Arrow – appropriately titled “The Dragon” – finally gave us a healthy amount of insight into the man that is Ricardo Diaz. When you think about it, it makes sense that the producers held off for a bit because he largely lurked in the shadows during the beginning of the season, allowing Cayden James to serve as a red herring of sorts.
So, now that we’re well aware of his sordid childhood and why he’s the sick S.O.B. that he is today, we can only hope that actor Kirk Acevedo continues knocking it out of the park in this final stretch of episodes. In fact, it appears as though Diaz will achieve new levels of depravity in the penultimate outing.

But before the heroes of Star City can fully turn their attention toward Diaz, it looks like they’ll have to sort out their own affairs first. If you’ve been keeping up with the series, you don’t need us to tell you how Team Arrow has been fractured down the center, with the old guard and the newbies going about their separate ways.

If you’ll recall, the first photos promoting “Collision Course” dropped about a week ago, right before its preceding episode, “The Devil’s Greatest Trick,” had even aired. In those, we saw the original Team Arrow seemingly hiding out in a cabin for some undefined reason, prompting me to think that a second batch of images would soon follow.

Promo photos for next week’s episode of Arrow reveal that it will see the Emerald Archer square off against his enemy Vigilante.
The character has featured in a recurring role on The CW show since season 5, with the issue of his secret identity kept a mystery for a surprisingly long amount of time. Eventually, the fifth episode of season 6 – “Deathstroke Returns” – revealed that Vigilante was really Vincent Sobel, a Star City cop and former boyfriend of Dinah Drake.
Since then, the criminal-hating Vigilante appeared to have compromised his morals in his quest to bring down the Green Arrow by allying himself with a Legion of Doom-like cabal of villains led by Michael Emerson’s Cayden James. However, last week’s episode saw Sobel claim that he was actually working against James from the inside. In the next installment, Team Arrow will have to decide whether they can trust the guy or not.

Even though we have a few days to go until some of our favorite DC TV shows return for the back half of the current season, we’re able to peer ever so slightly into the future now that more synopses are creeping online. Don’t forget, episode descriptions tend to make their rounds three weeks ahead of time, but thankfully don’t really spoil whatever episodes come before.
First, let’s talk about Supergirl.
On January 29, it looks as though the series may stray away from the Legion of Super-Heroes – at least for that week – and instead focus on a few other unfolding situations. For starters, we can expect the battle between Morgan Edge and Lena Luthor to continue. Even having been explored sporadically thus far this season, our guess is that this thread will somehow be woven into the greater tapestry before long.

Even though Manu Bennett had considerable screentime in Arrow‘s season premiere a few weeks back, we’re still waiting to see the forward progression of his character’s particular story. That being said, it’s understandable why we’re greatly looking forward to seeing much more of Slade Wilson in the appropriately titled “Deathstroke Returns.”
As it turns out, the search for Slade’s son, Joe, will spill over into the next week in “Promises Kept.” Obviously, the writers are continuing to get some mileage out of one of the mercenary’s more notable catchphrases, because if a talking action figure of this iteration of Deathstroke were to exist, we imagine at least one of the things he’d say would be, “I made you a promise, kid.”

Last week, Arrow fans experienced quite the shocker at the end of “Tribute” when Oliver Queen passed the Green Arrow mantle to John Diggle. Basically, Ollie wants to assure that his son, William, has no fear of losing yet another parent. Thus, it only made sense to him that he hang up his bow.
So, even though Diggle has suited up in Oliver’s stead a few times in the past, that doesn’t mean this gargantuan shift didn’t come as any less of a surprise – especially when we’ve been told that this new status quo will remain in place for the time being.

But after capably weathering the storm, our hero was finally able to score a victory over Adrian Chase, with the big bad now being in Argus lockup.
Still, nobody should be shocked that a big picture kind of guy like Chase had contingencies in place, and is now picking off members of Team Arrow one by one – with a little help, of course. Although the trailer keeps its cards a little close to its vest in that regard, we do see a disguised woman who may very well be Talia al Ghul taking part in the action.
As for Chase’s other “friends,” it comes as a surprise that Black Siren didn’t appear in the promo as she’d no doubt draw more than a few viewers.

In the newly released sneak peek, we join Team Arrow 2.0 as they settle into their temporary digs after Oliver has apparently taken a punch to the face, probably courtesy of his old pal Anatoly. But what’s particularly exciting to see is that Dinah Drake, the new Black Canary, is already taking part in the action. Now begins the countdown to seeing her in full costume.

It’s not too often that Oliver Queen does some globe hopping outside of flashbacks, but when he does, odds are that something important will happen. As such, it’s highly recommended that you don’t miss next week’s episode of Arrow, which is naturally titled “Bratva.”
Now that Tina Boland has been revealed to be, in fact, Dinah Drake and is set to become the next Black Canary, she joins the gang as they head to the other side of the world and wastes no time getting in on the action. Aside from that, I’m interested to see if indeed Oliver’s alliance with Anatoly will become strained and if the latter will ever become KGBeast in this universe.

The CW’s DC TV offerings return next week, but the network has today released the official descriptions for the episodes of Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl which will air the week beginning February 6th. There aren’t too many major reveals here, but each of them sounds pretty fun in their own way.
First up is Supergirl. In an episode titled “The Martian Chronicles,” it sounds like we should expect the Girl of Steel to find herself caught in a crossfire between Martian Manhunter and the White Martians, the villainous alien race who wiped his people (and family) out on Mars.
White Martians Attack The Deo — Armek (guest star Terrell Tilford), a White Martian, descends on National City intent on taking M’gann (guest star Sharon Leal) back to Mars to face her punishment as a traitor. Hank (David Harewood) and Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) determine the...
