The Dance of the Dead episode of Best Horror Movie You Never Saw was Written by Cody Hamman, Narrated by Jason Hewlett, Edited by Juan Jimenez, Produced by John Fallon and Tyler Nichols, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
Did you ever wonder what it would be like if the zombie apocalypse coincided with prom night? The dead rising from their graves, calling out for brains. Disrupting the school event that’s supposed to be a great, memorable moment in a teen’s life. That’s what happens in the 2008 film Dance of the Dead (watch it Here). Which would have been a great sequel to The Return of the Living Dead if it were part of that franchise. And if you haven’t seen it, it’s definitely The Best Horror Movie You Never Saw.
Although Dance of the Dead was released in 2008, the first draft of the screenplay was written eleven years earlier.

As the third film in the series, V/H/S: Viral runs the risk of taking a good thing too far. Featuring stories that feel like they’ve forced camera footage in them to stick to the over-arcing theme, is it time to end the franchise now? The returning horror anthology this time has a connecting story that features a car chase, with a camera obsessed boyfriend chasing an ice cream van which appears to have stolen the love of his life. As we get a few minutes of this story at a time, we then skip off to some other stories that tend to make a little more sense.

The V/H/S franchise’s overarching idea is the concept that like David Cronenberg’s Videodrome posits, the video image can corrupt on a biological level, the grainy images and muffled sound can somehow change a person. This isn’t just something which happens in the world of these films though, as in the majority of cases, it also affects the filmmakers involved, allowing them to wallow in the more tired tropes of cinematic horror, along with its fixation on objectifying women, and as a result, make some of the worst stuff of their careers. Ti West and Adam Wingard are just two of the new breed...

Dance Of The Dead
Stars: Jared Kusnitz, Greyson Chadwick, Chandler Darby, Carissa Capobianco, Mark Oliver | Written by Joe Ballarini | Directed by Gregg Bishop
Let me preface this review by saying I originally reviewed the Us DVD of Dance of the Dead way back in in the early days of this site, in early December 2008 to be precise, techincally before Blogomatic3000 even existed! Why the delay between Us and UK DVD releases? I’ve no idea, but it is such a shame that the UK release of one of the best zombie movies of the past 5 years has been delayed so long… Anyway, back to the [updated] review:
Dance of the Dead stars newcomers Jared Kusnitz and Greyson Chadwick as a pair of teens whose prom night is rudely interrupted by a zombie invasion. A cross between a Romero zombie movie and one of John Hughes classic 80’s teen flicks, with a...

Take one part Sixteen Candles and one part Return Of The Living Dead and you’ve got Dance Of The Dead, one of the eight horror films released by Lionsgate from Ghost House Underground. This low budget zombiefest has the look and feel of one of those 1980’s comedy/dramas that were so prevalent during that era.
It’s prom night at Cosa High but as Jimmy heads out to prom, his boss at the pizza shop orders him to do one more delivery. Late arrival will be the least of Jimmy’s problems. Seems the geeks from the Sci-Fi club decided to play around in the local cemetery and now the dead are (literally) jumping out of their graves in search of flesh. We get a pretty good hit of the cause of the zombie outbreak by the bellowing smokestacks from the nuclear power plant in the background. Soon,...

When it came to DVD Tuesday, my suspicion and anticipation had grown to a ridiculous level, so I went out and purchased it. Honestly, I’m not horribly upset I did, but I was a tad let down. It’s the night of Coosa High School’s prom, [...]...
