MaryAnn’s quick take… This strained comedy might have been progressive in the 1960s, but today it reeks of an infantilization of women that warrants squashing, not celebrating. I’m “biast” (pro): I’m desperate for stories about women
I’m “biast” (con): nothing
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
It’s Bridesmaids lite — very, very lite — in the tedious and dated The Wedding Invitation, in which three Los Angeles friends scramble for last-minute dates to the nuptials of a former high-school classmate. The strained comedy here might be progressive and feminist if we were still living in the 1960s, but today it reeks of an infantilization of women that warrants squashing, not celebrating.
It is disappointing to see a movie written and directed by a woman that casts female passive-aggressive idiocy as charmingly kooky.
Lucy (Rainy Kerwin) is so excited to have been invited...

– Focus Features has acquired the North American and select international rights to Jason Reitman’s “Tully.” Written by Diablo Cody, the comedy stars Charlize Theron, Mackenzie Davis, Mark Duplass and Ron Livingston.
“Tully” tells the story of Marlo (Theron), a mother of three who is gifted a night nanny by her brother (Duplass). Hesitant to the extravagance at first, Marlo comes to form a unique bond with the thoughtful, surprising, and sometimes challenging young nanny named Tully (Davis). The film will premiere in U.S. theaters on April 20, 2018.

This week Anchor Bay released the steamy new thriller 247˚F, which follows a group of 20-somethings on a rural getaway who accidentally get locked in their cabin's sauna and find themselves with only a few hours to get out before the heat gets the best of them.
Directed by Levan Bakhia and Bega Jgubria, 247˚F stars Scout Taylor-Compton, Travis Van Winkle, Michael Copon, Christina Ulloa and horror's resident badass Tyler Mane.
Recently Dread Central had the opportunity to jump on the phone briefly with Mane, who has played iconic characters throughout his career from Sabretooth to Michael Myers and has successfully made the leap from the world of professional wrestling almost 20 years ago now to become a writer/producer and star of his own independent horror project, Compound Fracture.
During our interview we spoke with Mane about his involvement with 247˚F and reuniting with Taylor-Compton and heard more on his latest project,...

The extremely hot and claustrophobic thriller, 247°F is finally getting a Blu-ray and DVD release. The horror flick, which follows a group of kids stuck in a sauna during what is supposed to be a 'fun' vacation, had an initial theatrical release in Georgia (the country, not the state) in the fall of 2011, and will finally be available in homes on October 23. To celebrate, Anchor Bay Home Entertainment has an extremely sweaty clip from the film to share with fans. In the .What are We Going to Do?. clip, Jenna (Scout Taylor-Compton) and her two friends, Ian and Renee (Travis Van Winkle, Christina Ulloa) have already been trapped inside the sauna with no way out. The three are already covered in sweat, and as the temperature continues to rise, panic begins setting in. The three are completely dry on ideas and the temperature is still picking up steam. The set...

247°F is a new thriller set for release on DVD and Blu-Ray October 23rd. This film seems reminiscent of another, The Steam Experiment. In both films, characters are locked in a room as the temperature rises and 247°F is the point at which the human body expires. 247°F has brought together a recognizable cast. Scout Taylor-Compton has starred in Rob Zombie's Halloween films while Travis Van Winkle was in the Friday the 13th (2009) remake. And, Michael Copon might be best known for his appearance in Night of the Demons (2009). All of these actors will play characters who are trapped in a sauna with no escape. Let the heat climb in just a few months. Release Date: October 23rd (Blu-Ray). Directors: Levan Bakhia and Beqa Jguburia. Writers: Levan Bakhia, Beqa Oniani, and Lloyd S. Wagner. Cast: Scout Taylor-Compton, Travis Van Winkle, Michael Copon, Christina Ulloa, and Tyler Mane. The trailer for...

Co-directors Levan Bakhia and Beqa Jguburi are turning up the heat for their new thriller '247F'. Much in the vein of taut low-budget horror flicks such as 'Frozen' and 'Buried' there will be claustrophobic chills galore in the flick which will be unleashed onto Blu-ray and DVD across the Us from 23 October thanks to Anchor Bay. Scout Taylor-Compton -below (Rob Zombie's 'Halloween', 'April Fool's Day') and a bunch of pals get trapped in a sauna with the heat slowly rising and no chance of escape. As sexy as the sauna scene might get with a bunch of hotties stripping down to their bare essentials I'm sure flaccidness will ensue once their skin begins to boil. Travis Van Winkle ('Friday the 13th'), Michael Copon, Christina Ulloa, Tyler Mane and Tornike Gogrichiani all co-star and you can check out the trailer below....

After witnessing the silliness of a killer trying to drown someone in an Atm, nothing seems ludicrous to us anymore. So why not have a horror movie involving people stuck in a sauna? At least we'll get to see Scout Taylor-Compton very hot and sweaty!

Now here's an interesting one. We've seen heaps of horror flicks set in space restrictive setups recently, such as Kaare Andrews' plane-based 'Altitude' or Adam Green's ski-left set 'Frozen'. So where else can we venture that confines, aids claustrophobia and more importantly will likely help hotties strip off for survival? A sauna of course! That's the steamy set piece for Levan Bakhia and Beqa Jguburia's new thriller '247degreesF'. The hot flick features actress Scout Taylor-Compton -below (star of horror remakes 'Halloween' and 'April Fool's Day') along with Travis Van Winkle, Michael Copon, Christina Ulloa, Tyler Mane and Tornike Gogrichiani. '247degreesF' is currently seeking a buyer at the Afm but in the meantime you can check out the trailer and one-sheet below....

Surely we’ve all seen a movie or TV show where someone attempted to commit murder by locking someone in a sauna and setting the heat to full blast. But a whole survival horror movie built around three people trapped in a sauna as the temperature rises to a dangerous 247°F? That’s a new one.
That’s the premise of the new thriller 247°F from first-time directors Levan Bakhia and Beqa Jguburia and first-time writer Lloyd S. Wagner that was shot in the Republic of Georgia.
Here’s a more detailed synopsis:
Jenna, Renee, Ian, and Michael arrive at a lake house owned by Ian's uncle Wade. Planning for party and fun, three of them end up locked in the sauna. At first they think it is Michael playing jokes on them, but soon they realize that no one is coming to help, not even Wade. The heat is rising,...
