Kings of Leon recently released their ninth studio album, Can We Please Have Fun, a sprawling self-interrogation that ushers the band into a new phase of their artistry more than two decades into their career. The process of creating the album gifted the quartet with a newfound sense of clarity. It wasn’t just that they understood themselves on a deeper, lyrical level, they also learned that they could experience those same breakthroughs as creative directors of their visual output, as well.

Kings of Leon have unveiled a video for their new song, “Going Nowhere.” Directed by Casey McGrath, the black-and-white clip was shot live from Nashville, Tennessee and they released it on Tuesday.
The visual features band frontman Caleb Followill. He is seen sitting on the arm of a couch as he’s filmed with his back to the camera while he is alone performing the reflective ballad on acoustic guitar. The minimalistic backdrop and setting befits the song’s of-the-moment longing themes of yearning to be with someone while looking forward to better days.

Title: Talihina Sky: The Story of Kings of Leon Directors: Stephen C. Mitchell and Casey McGrath An unusually intimate peek behind the curtain of the Followill fraternity, “Talihina Sky: The Story of Kings of Leon” arrives at particularly bizarre time, coming as it does on the heels of the successful, Grammy Award-winning band’s cancellation of the entirety of its remaining U.S. fall tour dates after a disastrous show in Dallas in which lead singer Caleb Followill suddenly left the stage. After premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year, the documentary bows on Showtime this evening, with repeat presentations scheduled over the next several weeks. Kings of Leon pay homage to their southern roots in a music video for their latest single "Back Down South". In the clip directed by Casey McGrath, the four-piece band go to Nashville to play an outdoor concert in a rural setting in front of their fans club local teenagers.
The live performance footage of the Followill brothers is interspersed with vignettes depicting teenagers in the American south who all converge at an outdoor party the band are hosting. Staying true to the song, the video gives a mood of celebratory, reflective and nostalgic.
"Back Down South" is lifted from Kings of Leon's fifth studio album "Come Around Sundown" which debuted at No. 2 on Billboard Hot 200 when it was released in the U.S. in October last year.
