Though it’s packed with unnerving moments from start to finish, viewers of The Shining may remember the ghost of Delbert Grady telling Jack Torrance that he must “correct” his wife and child as a particularly creepy scene, and next year fans of the film can see Delbert’s suggestion mixed with dancing and humor onstage in a musical theater parody of Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 horror classic.
If you enjoyed Stephen King’s 1977 novel, The Shining, have watched Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 film adaptation of the same name multiple times, or enjoyed watching horror and humor melded in a live show like Evil Dead The Musical, then you may want to check out the upcoming Redrum: The Unauthorized Musical Parody of The Shining. Set to hit the stage sometime next fall, the musical parody made an onstage sneak peek performance on Wednesday night.

Hello, Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn At White River State Park! Yep, you can now lump downtown Indy’s outdoor concert venue in with all the other newly lengthened corporate-titled venues. Be still our geeky, artifact-loving, shipper hearts. Warehouse 13 actress Joanne Kelly still “would love” to see H.G. Wells and Myka get together on the hit SyFy series.
In an interview with sci-fi site io9.com, Kelly, who plays Secret Service Agent Myka Bering on the series, reiterated her characters love for H.G. Wells (played by Jaime Murray) and the fact that the actresses decided on their own to have their characters fall in love.
Jaime and I decided that [on our own] and then once the writers saw what we were doing, we they kind of went with it. But that was Jaime and my idea. We decided, "Wouldn't it be fun if they were kind of in love?" So we fell in love.
Kelly had confirmed shippers suspicions about the Myka-h.G. love connection at Comic-Con in July when she confessed that the characters “fell in love a little bit.”

A summery, soulful vibe dominates the first half of the soundtrack to Friends With Benefits, the new comedy from Will Gluck which is unlikely to have a single review or article written about it that doesn’t mention Ivan Reitman’s conceptually identical No Strings Attached (hey, fulfilled my own prophecy there! Shaping the future. Yay me).
However just as the balmy heat and blue skies of summer can offer an irresistible environment for certain ill-advised behaviours (too much drinking, too much sun, spending your hard-earned money on a ticket for Green Lantern), so the early part of this tie-in album finds a number of classic songs receiving a refresh treatment that you’re not quite sure they ever really needed.
But, having said that, if logic dictates that only a brave fool would try to cover the Cure’s cast-iron classic Boys Don’t Cry, then the stripped-back, sensitive...

There.s nothing more cliché in Hollywood today than the run-of-the-mill romantic comedy, complete with a predictable structure, cheesy humor and sappy fairy tale romance. Friends With Benefits is the story of two cynical people who attempt to bypass all the typical pitfalls of a traditional relationship by agreeing to have a purely casual sexual relationship while maintaining a friendship and healthy professional relationship. Needless to say, this experiment is doomed.
Justin Timberlake (Social Network, Alpha Dog) plays Dylan, a talented and successful creative director for a small but profitable blog in Los Angeles. Mila Kunis (Black Swan, The Book Of Eli) plays Jamie, a corporate headhunter trying to convince Dylan to take a job with GQ magazine in New York. In the process, they become friends .with benefits,. but nothing more.
Friends With Benefits is directed by Will Gluck, a filmmaker now three-for-three in comedy. His first feature is the hilariously immature Fired Up!

Grab your favorite frat boy, because Dave Matthews Band is relevant again! Dave and the rest of the guys have kick-started a new Chicago music festival called the Dave Matthews Band Caravan.
The three-day event will take place in an undeveloped community on the south side of Chicago, right on the lake. You can only get three-day passes, which cost between $195 and $825... which will get you the VIP package. You know, for the J.Crew set.
Okay, so we're teasing a bit, but in all honesty, the lineup is pretty amazing. We're strongly considering tie-dying our favorite polo shirt, popping the collar, and hitting Chi-town with a few cases of Fat Tire. Here's the full list, from the press release:
"In addition to Dave Matthews Band, the lineup for the Chicago Lakeside "Caravan" will include David Gray, Ray Lamontagne, O.A.R., Kid Cudi, The Flaming Lips performing Dark Side of the Moon,...

[1] Mark Romanek may not be in the top tier of feature directors just yet, but among music video directors, he's an icon. Remember the dark sultriness of Fiona Apple's "Criminal" video? Or the controversy surrounding Nine Inch Nails' "Closer"? How about the heartbreaking intimacy of Johnny Cash's "Hurt"? Those are just three of his best-known works. Romanek's other musical clients include artists as varied and notable as Madonna, Weezer and Jay-z. Revisit those videos and many, many others in this video of higlights by Romanek fan Nino Del Padre after the jump. [via Movie City News [2]] Watching these videos, it's obvious Romanek has a gift as a visual storyteller. He has an impressive flexibility that allows him to do vibrant and upbeat just as compellingly as he does still and uncanny. Romanek's won numerous awards for his work, including Grammys for Michael & Janet Jackson's "Scream," Janet Jackson's "Got 'Til It's Gone,...

Eight of us packed into a midsize sedan to travel from New Brunswick, NJ, to Lowell, Ma, in the fall of 1993. Engulfed by furniture factories, thrift stores, and Allen Ginsberg, the destination was the annual Jack Kerouac Festival, the trademarked college road trip. The poetry, most of it bad and expectable, was par for the course; the surprise was the two albums my friend's brother popped into the tape deck: G. Love and Special Sauce's debut and the Roots' Do You Want More? While today G. hovers on the fringes of the public eye, releasing wistful rehashings and occasional solid singles, the Roots have become an acclaimed and lauded institution in hip-hop, the number one backing band and premier headliner in an industry still governed by synth-fueled beats and cleverer-than-you samples. Jazz-influenced rap was nothing new when the Roots...

Santa Cruz, CA rockers The Expendables released their fifth album this week, "Prove It." Their second release on Slightly Stoopid's own Stoopid Records, "Prove It" is their first new album since 2007's self-titled effort.
The 17 new tracks were produced by Paul Leary, guitarist for Butthole Surfers, and El Hefe of Nofx, and feature guest spots from G. Love of G. Love and the Special Sauce and members of Slightly Stoopid.
"As producers, Leary and El Hefe brought a vibe to the studio as only two punk rock guitar legends could," the band said of the new album. "As musicians who really care about the music, we all connected and feel like we are bringing something new to the table, while still staying true to the sounds that make us who we are."

Christofer "C-Money" Welter was part of John Brown's Body for years and is currently the trumpet player and keyboardist for alterna-reggae rockers Slightly Stoopid. But now, the SoCal native is set to release his debut solo effort, "Family Business," which finds him collaborating with G. Love, Angelo Moore and Dre Gibson of Fishbone, and Kyle "Stoopid" McDonald of Slightly Stoopid, among others.
On the album, produced and co-written by Craig Welsch aka Top Rankin, C-Money leaves his harder-rocking day job behind to fuse sounds of hip-hop, jazz, and funk for a a fresh-sounding down-tempo mix of modern reggae. C-Money said he found himself wanting to create more new music whenever he was off the road, which, through live jam sessions, led him to experimenting with the sounds on his solo effort.
"It's like a carpenter going home and building a deck for his house," C-Money says of how the album came about.

Addition of Australian pipe instrument made for night's most eyebrow-raising moment.

Tuesday night's slightly surreal episode of "American Idol" featured a handful of eyebrow-raising moments. As the top nine contestants dipped into the Lennon/McCartney song catalog, we saw Lee Dewyze bring out a bagpiper during "Hey Jude," Tim Urban turn "All My Loving" into a rockabilly shuffle and Michael Lynche spin "Eleanor Rigby" into a revivalist meeting. But the evening's most head-scratching moment once again came courtesy of Crystal Bowersox, whose surprisingly middling version of "Come Together" was rescued by the bizarre addition of a didgeridoo in the arrangement.
The didgeridoo (sometimes spelled "didjeridu" or referred to as simply "didge" or "didj") is a traditional Australian pipe instrument that is little more than a hollowed-out cylinder of wood. When played, it emits a low droning tone...
