I'm a big fan of Peter Stormare, and although he doesn't always get the chance to take on leading roles, he's always a highlight in whatever project he takes on. The American/Swedish TV series Swedish Dicks finds Stormare starring as Ingmar Andersson, a former stuntman who begins a new career in Los Angeles as a private dick along with struggling DJ Axel Kruse (Johan Glans), who decides to... While some TV networks are papering over the realities of their businesses by trumpeting a range of digital deals, Pop, the CBS-Lionsgate joint venture, is sticking to its linear knitting.
The network known as Pop for the past three years, after rebranding from TV Guide Network, announced a raft of new orders, renewals and pilot orders, including new shows Clique and Flack and renewals of Schitt’s Creek, Swedish Dicks and Hollywood Darlings. The news is timed with the upfronts, but instead of a formal presentation, the network has meetings with ad buyers and press in smaller, more individualized settings.
The programming news is part of a ramped-up strategy with a new target of 400 original hours a year.

Keanu Reeves is an expert when it comes to ghosting.
In an exclusive sneak peek at Wednesday’s Swedish Dicks, the actor makes his first appearance as Tex, the late best friend of Ingmar (Peter Stormare), who blames himself for his former partner’s death during a stunt gone wrong.
“Careful or you’ll end up like me,” Reeves, 52, warns Stormare in the clip as he prepares to throw himself off the roof of a Los Angeles building.
Ingmar presses Tex for what really happened on the day of his death before realizing that his ghostly pal is no longer by his side.

A funny, fresh detective comedy is tough to do in any language. Many shows have tried to infuse the sordid world of cheap private investigators with some offbeat humor, but “Swedish Dicks,” the latest attempt, co-created and starring Peter Stormare, bases its story in L.A. with an international and bilingual twist.
Stormare plays Ingmar, a broke ex-Hollywood stuntman who opens up an unusually affordable detective agency. Working out of a nondescript downtown L.A. office, one particular job brings fellow Swedish ex-pat Axel (Johan Glans) into his professional orbit. After the two narrowly escape the clutches of a particularly twisty gig, they go into business together. Operating under an agency with the same name as the show’s title, these two Swedes handle their client’s unconventional requests wherever in the city they might lead.

As audiences begin the final push towards fall, there are still new shows worth your time. We’ve gathered some of this month’s biggest TV premieres from across network, cable and streaming to add to your personal viewing calendar.
“What Would Diplo Do?” (August 3, Viceland)
James Van Der Beek takes the role of a lifetime as Diplo, the world-famous DJ (who may or may not have spoiled West Coast viewers on the “Breaking Bad” Season 4 finale back in 2011). As Van Der Beek told IndieWire’s Liz Shannon Miller, it’s a series that fulfills a career-long dream, in a way. How well does he pull off the beanie look and channel an internationally recognized producer? We’re eager to find out.

Ardent John Wick fans will remember the moment in which Keanu Reeves and Peter Stormare shared the screen in Chapter 2, when the latter plays Viggo’s snarling brother Abram Tarasov. But the pair’s history stretches back further still to Swedish Dicks, Private Investigators, the single-camera comedy series in which Reeves features in his first major TV role.
Having premiered via Viaplay first, we now have confirmation that Pop TV has swooped in to acquire the property as part of its robust slate of new original programming. Also starring comedian Johan Glans as an aging ex-stuntman, Swedish Dicks, as the name suggests, chronicles the story behind an L.A.-based private detective firm. Stormare dreamed up the idea back in 2014, and two years later the show had developed enough of a cult following to warrant a second season, with Keanu Reeves on board in a recurring capacity.

We've been keeping an eye out for news of Swedish Dicks since we first caught wind of the PEter Stormare and Johan Glans starring comedy about a pair of Swedes eking out a living as private eyes in Hollywood. Stormare alone in this sort of concept makes it must watch material in my book and when word came out that they'd somehow convinced Keanu Reeves to join the cast - no small feat for a series funded on a small budget by a Scandinavian streaming service - well, that just spiked the anticipation. An American release partner has not yet been released - at least not to my knowledge - but with the first episode of the series hitting Viaplay on September 2nd there are...
