Lainey Wilson tells her lover to chill out just a bit longer and she’ll be home soon in her barn-burning new song “Hang Tight Honey.”
With elements of her own autobiography, the song opens with Wilson recalling how she had a “bus ‘fore I got a house/cause that’s what dreams make you do.” In other words, she’s a road dog and, damn, if any relationship is going to keep her off the stage. But that doesn’t mean she’s not wishing for her fella: “While...

In a recent interview, Tyler Hubbard, one-half of the country music duo Florida Georgia Line, opened up about the reasons behind the group’s surprising breakup in 2022. Hubbard and his bandmate Brian Kelley had been making music together for over a decade, churning out hit after hit and building a devoted fanbase. So, what led to the end of this successful partnership?
Florida Georgia Line’s Nashville Restaurant Abruptly Closes
In addition to making country music hits, Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley opened a Nashville restaurant together. Fgl House opened in 2017, one of the first bars in Nashville bearing the name of a country music star.
Bars connected to artists such as Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, and Garth Brooks have since opened in downtown Nashville. A bar owned by Morgan Wallen will open over Memorial Day weekend.
The congested bar scene on Broadway in Nashville is down one watering hole.

Taylor Sheridan brought anyone with an experience on the ranch into his show Yellowstone. This included the acclaimed country musician Ryan Bingham. Bingham plays the guest role of a ranch hand, Walker, in the series. Interestingly, Sheridan is a big fan of the singer’s music and listened to one of his songs on a loop while writing the script for his pre-Yellowstone film, Wind River.
Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan listened to his favorite singer’s song while writing Wind River
Ryan Bingham’s most recent album, American Love Song, featured a ballad called Wolves, which was inspired by the student organization March For Our Lives. The song was featured in the Taylor Sheridan series, where Bingham’s character sings the song in a scene.

The Academy of Country Music Awards show set for May 16 is getting some additional octane in its performance lineup with the addition of two of the biggest artists of the moment from outside the country genre, Post Malone and Noah Kahan.
Malone looks set for a solo moment on the ACM Awards show, while Kahan will join female artist of the year nominee Kelsea Ballerini for a duet.
Even without a new album out, Malone has been ubiquitous lately, in pop and even country. He has appeared as a featured performer in the last three months with arguably the three biggest acts in the music business right now: Beyonce (on her country-driven album “Cowboy Carter”), Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen (on the just-released joint single “I Had Some Help”). He also did one of the most watched sets at Stagecoach, doing a performance of classic country covers. Although it’s...

Just like Florida Georgia Line itself, the bro-country duo’s Nashville bar is kaput. Fgl House, which first opened its doors in June 2017 with a ribbon cutting by members Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, has closed and will be replaced by a new Lainey Wilson venture.
The shuttering of Fgl House marks the first country-star branded bar of the modern era to close in Nashville. Tc Restaurant Group, which operates bars by the likes of Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, and, formerly, Florida Georgia Line, will partner with Wilson to create Bell Bottoms Up.

The Vegas residency will highlight music from Urban’s upcoming studio album, which he began teasing earlier this year with the lead single “Straight Line.” The record doesn’t yet have a release date, but will feature the previously released songs “Messed Up As Me” and “Go Home W U” with Lainey Wilson.

Entertainer of the Year is the biggest prize at the Academy of Country Music Awards, honoring an artist’s incredible year across all metrics, like touring, streaming and radio. While there is no specific formula on how to predict the winner, it’s often someone who dominated the country sphere in more ways than one, and who solidified themselves as the face of country music. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the seven-person race for this year’s award.
If we are going by process of elimination, perhaps the first person out is Kane Brown. He is one of country music’s most popular artists of the past 10 years, undoubtedly so. However, 2023 wasn’t necessarily a standout year for him, evidenced by the fact that he is only nominated in this category. Plus, Brown is surely going to be back in a stronger year, perhaps with...

Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson are two of the hardest workers in the industry. Along with that, they seem to have a bit of a friendly rivalry going on regarding which one of them works harder. So, what did both country music heavy hitters have to say?
Jelly Roll Is Keeping His Momentum Going
After the breakout year that Jelly Roll had in 2023, no one would blame him if he chose to coast into 2024 and rest on his recent accolades. However, after how many years it took Jelly to climb to the top, he is not letting anything stop him from continuing his success, even if that means working harder than his peers to achieve his goals.
When it comes to work ethic and keeping the train rolling, Jelly Roll recognizes that same fire and tenacity in fellow country artist, Lainey Wilson. Jelly Roll recently recalled running into Lainey Wilson back in 2023. At the time,...

Hulu’s list of new releases for May 2024 is missing a certain amount of original series firepower. In the place of a blockbuster like The Handmaid’s Tale or Shōgun, however, is some content diversity.
The first of the month sees the premiere of four-episode British series Shardlake. This mystery drama takes place during the reign of Henry VIII and features none other than Thomas Cromwell (Sean Bean) investigating a murder. Other series of note this month include the Korean drama Uncle Samsik on May 15.
Movies are bit more interesting on Hulu in May. Teen comedy Prom Dates premieres on May 3. That will be followed by the 2023 Adam Drive film Ferrari on May 24. Before all that though is the real heavy hitter. You can watch Austin Butler’s acclaimed performance as The King in Elvis as early as May 1. Luke Combs is the man of the hour. The 59th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards nominations were announced on Tuesday morning, April 9, and Combs came out on top with eight bids, including Entertainer of the Year. Check out the complete list of nominations here.
This is Combs’s fifth nomination in a row for Entertainer of the Year, an award he has yet to win. This year he’s up against Kane Brown, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, Chris Stapleton, Morgan Wallen and lone female nominee Lainey Wilson. Women are consistently underrepresented in Entertainer of the Year, though Carrie Underwood won in 2020 (in a tie with Thomas Rhett) and Miranda Lambert finally prevailed in 2022. But we mustn’t underestimate Wilson here. She pulled off a huge upset at the CMA Awards last fall, claiming Entertainer of the Year despite being relatively new on the scene.

“Fast Car” continues to drive Luke Combs and Tracy Chapman to the top — this time, at the 2024 Academy of Country Music Awards.
Combs is the top contender this year with eight nominations, competing for entertainer of the year as well as single and song of the year with “Fast Car.” He shares the latter nomination with Chapman, who wrote the song alone and had major success with it in 1988, 35 years before Combs brought new life to the track and made it a country hit.
Chapman won in the same category at last year’s Country Music Association Awards, becoming the first Black person to do so. She and Combs earned praise for teaming up for a live performance of the song at February’s Grammy Awards, where Combs was nominated for his version of the song; Chapman won two Grammys for her original version.

As Willie Nelson once sang, there’s no place but Texas — and some of country music’s hallmark awards shows seem to agree. In the past two years, two big-budget ceremonies have been staged not in Nashville but in the Lone Star State. On Sunday, the CMT Music Awards, airing on CBS, made their return to Austin for a second consecutive year and leaned hard into all the trappings of Texas.

Jelly Roll was the big winner at the CMT Music Awards for the second year in a row. Except this time, for the first time, his victories included the top award of the night: Video of the Year. Check out the complete list of winners here.
This year Jelly Roll won all three of his nominations: Video of the Year and Male Video of the Year for “Need a Favor,” and CMT Performance of the Year for his live performance of “Need a Favor” at the 2023 CMT Music Awards. Last year he also won Male Video of the Year (for “Son of a Sinner”) in addition to Male Breakthrough Video of the Year and CMT Digital-First Performance of the Year (also for “Son of a Sinner”). It seems, judging from his undefeated streak at these awards so far, that Jelly Roll has one of the most passionate fan bases in current country music.

When Toby Keith died of cancer on Feb. 5 at age 62, the country world mourned the loss of one of its biggest stars.
