Horror comedy Deadly Retreat, the first full-length feature to be released by Artigo Indie, began filming yesterday, February 2nd, in Idyllwild, CA; and we have the early details along with a look at the film's teaser artwork.
Jon Artigo wrote and directs Deadly Retreat through his production company, Artigo Indie, along with his wife, Danielle Artigo (pictured), who will be producing as well as starring in the picture. Danielle's co-stars include genre vet Jennifer Blanc-Biehn and Jonathan Bennett (Mean Girls), who also recently worked together in Lifetime's "The Wrong Woman."
Matt Kohler and Barry Alexander have joined the producing team as producer and co-producer, respectively.
Deadly Retreat marks Ms. Artigo's third feature producing credit in the last six months, having recently come on to produce for Blanc/Biehn Productions She Rises, starring Michael Biehn, Jennifer Blanc-Biehn, Daisy McCrackin, and Angus McFadyen of AMC's new series "Turn." That project is currently in post-production.

After breaking into show business with the Oscar-winning film “The Artist,” Ben Kurland has signed on to star opposite Jonathan Bennett (“Mean Girls”) in the horror comedy “Deadly Retreat,” TheWrap has learned. Jon Artigo will write and direct the indie movie, which he and Danielle Artigo are producing through their Artigo Indie banner along with Matt Kohler of Silver Hero Entertainment. Michael Biehn and Jennifer Blanc-Biehn's Blanc/Biehn Productions announced today that Angus Macfadyen (Braveheart, Saw III/IV) has joined their production of She Rises, in which the pair will also co-star.
Along with Macfadyen (pictured), Biehn, and Blanc-Biehn, Daisy McCrackin ("Cold Case," Halloween: Resurrection) will appear as the main character, Rosebud. Larry Wade Carrell is slated to direct She Rises, which will begin filming in mid-December 2013 in Los Angeles.
As with previous Bbp films, Lony Ruhmann exec produces, and Randy Chance will be managing composition. Jon Artigo will edit, and Danielle Artigo will assist Blanc/Biehn Productions on the producing side.

Robert Hoffman has joined the cast of the indie '80s comedy "We Got the Beat."
The film, penned by Jon Artigo, revolves around Brad, a high school football player who sets out to prove he's more than just a jock by quitting the team and turning his heavy metal band into a pioneering boy band.
Hoffman will play Garth, the boy-toy and live-in lover of Brad's mother.
Filming begins this month in Massachusetts, with Artigo directing.
Hoffman's upcoming films include "They Came From Upstairs" for Fox and the indie comedies "The Last Stan" and "Kids in America." His credits include Disney's "Step Up 2 the Streets."
Hoffman is repped by CAA and Handprint Entertainment.
