The first trailer for the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power was released online yesterday afternoon, and Prime Video has now followed-up with a special "Look Inside" featurette spotlighting quite a bit of new footage.
The video takes us behind-the-scenes of the sophomore season of the Lotr prequel series, as the main cast members bring us up to speed on their respective characters.
By far the biggest talking point from the trailer is the return of Sauron, who has now taken his Elven "Annatar" form in an effort to hide out in Eregion. If the show follows the lore, the "Giver of Gifts" will befriend Celebrimbor and aid him in the making of the Nine (that were given to men) and Seven Rings (gifted to the Dwarves) of Power.
Of course, Celebrimbor and the other Elven smiths already met Sauron when he was disguised...

Prime Video has announced that we will get our first look at some footage from the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power tomorrow when the first teaser trailer is released online.
Production has been underway since late 2022 at Bray Studios, just outside London. Season 1 was shot in New Zealand, but the decision was made to change-up location because The UK is "considered more economical and is also where the company is establishing a multi-show hub."
The first season concluded with the reveal that the seemingly benevolent Halbrand was actually Sauron all along. The Dark Lord offered Galadriel the chance to join him once his ruse was discovered, and when she refused, he fled back to the Southlands (soon to be known as Mordor).
It was also heavily implied that "The Stranger" was really Gandalf, but this is yet to be confirmed by actor Daniel Weyman or the showrunners.

One does not simply watch the first season of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" without coming away impressed by composer Bear McCreary's luscious and evocative score for the series. Reactions to the Amazon Prime Video show may have ranged from one extreme to the other upon release in late 2022, but hopefully, fans of all stripes could agree that the music of Middle-earth lived up to the sky-high standards set by the original trilogy of movies. While the series remains indebted to the visuals and locations used by director Peter Jackson, there's no doubt that the legendary and award-winning efforts of Howard Shore played just as crucial a role in defining the soundscape of a world inhabited by Hobbits, Dwarves, and all sorts of other fantastical beings. In turn, those contributions certainly influenced the various themes, motifs, and original songs McCreary sprinkled throughout the fantasy show.

Nori and Poppy, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’s dynamic Harfoot duo, were best friends who stuck by each other no matter what. That’s why it was so surprising in the Season 1 finale when Poppy stayed with their caravan cohorts rather than join Nori and the Stranger on their new adventure in search of that constellation from Sadoc’s map.
“I was also surprised as a person reading it in the script,” Markella Kavenagh, who plays Nori, tells TVLine.

"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" has completed its first season, and production on season 2 is currently underway. In the Prime Video series, we meet the Harfoots, the precursors to the Hobbits from the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. The Harfoots are the heart and soul of the show and of Middle-earth. Unlike the Hobbits we meet thousands of years later in the Third Age, the Harfoots are travelers who are constantly on the move. Despite this, they still stick with their small communities.
One Harfoot, however — Nori Brandyfoot (Markella Kavenagh) — has an adventurous spirit, much like her future counterpart Frodo Baggins. In season 1, she and her friend Poppy (Megan Richards) come upon a mysterious Stranger (Daniel Weyman) who has shot to the earth in what appears to be a comet. Nori strikes up a relationship with the Stranger, and by the end of the season, the two...

Writers — they're just like us! If you thought we fans were the only ones getting all caught up in our feelings while watching these larger-than-life stories on such an unimaginably wide canvas, think again. "The Lord of the Rings" has always boasted a sincere streak that tugs right at the heartstrings of its fans, revealing author J.R.R. Tolkien as something of a softie when it comes to fantastical adventures, the power of friendship, and the nostalgic comforts of home. The symbolic representation of these ideas have traditionally come courtesy of the hobbits, the home-loving little folk with big feet and even bigger hearts. Frodo, Sam, Bilbo, and all the rest may be completely different characters, but they all share many of the same qualities that make them so easy to root for and identify with.

Endings: they're tough! Ask plenty of "Lord of the Rings" fans and they'll say that "Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" had a perfect conclusion. But whenever I hear that, I think, "Which one?!" The film trilogy famously didn't seem to know how to say goodbye to the characters we'd grown to love so much, so it tacked on not one or two but at least four endings, if not more. The emotions of that trilogy's ending hit like waves, crashing into you one after another. This week's finale of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power," on the other hand, kept its most emotional moment short and sweet – but it still hit like a tidal wave.
There were plenty of moments to love in "Alloyed," from the tricky, trippy, memory-hopping scenes between Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and Sauron (Charlie Vickers) to the cheer-worthy moment when...

(Warning: Spoilers follow for the season 1 finale of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.")
The season finale of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" proved that, even in its darkest moments, the series will look to the light for hope. This is especially true when it comes to the Stranger (Daniel Weyman) and the harfoots. Although a chunk of the story is relegated to finding out his true identity, the finale focuses on the friendship between the wizard and the halflings. As the Stranger chooses to be good in a world dictating he is evil, we see his harfoot friends fight at his side to keep it that way. But how do the halflings decide to help their (very) powerful friend? Well, by throwing rocks at the villains, of course.
Not only is the moment in question a great act of bravery by the harfoots,...

"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power"'s first season features a pretty huge mystery that it finally reveals the answer to in the season finale. The first episode ends with a giant meteor sailing over Middle-earth and landing not far from where the Harfoots have made their camp. Nori Brandyfoot (Markella Kavenagh) and her friend Poppy Proudfellow (Megan Richards) travel to the site where the meteor crashed out of curiosity. There, they're met with a strange sight: at the center of the broken flaming meteor is a very tall man, played by Daniel Weyman.

That Sauron Reveal on ‘The Rings of Power’ Finale Explained by [Spoiler], Plus a Preview of Season 2
Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you haven’t watched the Season 1 finale of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” now streaming on Prime Video.
After much speculation and enough fan theories to fill a dwarven mine, “Rings of Power” fans finally got their answer on Sauron’s true identity in the prequel series — and it’s Halbrand (Charlie Vickers). The episode starts, however, with a fake-out from the three mysterious, white-cloaked witches claiming that the Stranger (Daniel Weyman) is actually Sauron. Later in the episode, it’s revealed that he’s not Sauron, but actually a powerful wizard known as an Istari, like Gandalf and Saruman from “The Lord of the Rings.”
Vickers and Weyman both spoke with Variety about the major reveals with Halbrand and the Stranger, now that they can finally spill on their true identities.
But first, a recap of the seismic events...

Throughout history, societies have told each other stories through song. Often, those ditties were the only way these stories could be passed down and remembered. There were drinking songs, sea shanties, songs to pass the time, songs to walk by, and songs to lift the heart. There is something about communal singing that lets us be a part of a group, sharing in something we know and love. Songs can keep the beat that soldiers march to or traveling groups walk to. They mourn those who have passed or brighten up a day with a funny twist.

It’s official: Amazon’s The Rings of Power has started filming its next season.
Production got underway on Monday at the new hub at Bray Studios just outside London.
The news follows the first official Nielsen ratings being released Thursday for the Prime Video series, showing The Rings of Power topped the streaming charts for its debut week with 1.3 billion minutes viewed (likely an Amazon series record given that only two hours were released).
The first season of the show was filmed in New Zealand over an epic stretch of 18 months during the pandemic. For season 2, which will consist of eight episodes, Amazon switched the show’s production to the U.K., which is considered more economical and is also where the company is establishing a multi-show hub.
The Rings of Power is approaching its seventh and penultimate episode of its debut season this week.

Last week’s instalment of The Rings of Power threw up some key questions: Would Halbrand break his oath by joining Galadriel’s voyage to the Southlands? Could young Theo resist the pull of Sauron’s blade? And what’s the significance of the dwarves mining Mithril? We’ve got answers to all of that and more this week, and there was still time to catch up with the Harfoots, too. They even sang us a song! Five episodes into "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power," we're now officially more than halfway through the deliberately-paced season and many viewers still find themselves struggling with the idea of what an adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien should "feel" like. Nobody can ever really define what such a subjective statement actually means, of course, especially since material as well-known as this comes with such a broad range of appeal among so many different demographics. But I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the opening of episode 5, titled "Partings," immediately sets the tone for a far more coherent hour than last week's scattershot episode and lives up to much of what fans would consider quintessential Tolkien.

The soundtrack for Amazon Prime’s upcoming The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is out now, and the titles of the tracks are a pretty interesting collection that might offer us a few hints about what we’ll see in season 1 of what Amazon hope will be a several-season series.
The score itself is really rather lovely and sits very nicely alongside Howard Shore’s scores for the six Peter Jackson movies set in Middle-earth. Bear McCreary, the composer for Outlander, is a great choice for this job. His Outlander score incorporates Scottish and Celtic folk music beautifully into a fantasy drama score, as you might expect for a series about an 18th century Highland community. This makes him a perfect match for The Rings of Power, as Howard Shore was heavily inspired by Celtic music in his work on the films. Shore has written the main theme for the new series,...

"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" goes way back in Middle-earth lore, thousands of years before "The Lord of the Rings." It's loosely based on the supplemental texts and appendices that J.R.R. Tolkien wrote to flesh out his fictional universe. While we'll definitely see a few familiar characters along the way, there are also some new ones, like the Harfoots.
In Tolkien lore, the Harfoots are essentially proto-Hobbits, the ancient ancestors of the Hobbits we know and love from "The Lord of the Rings." Like the Hobbits, the Harfoots are short, human-like beings with large, hairy feet. These beings, however, don't live in a country-garden type of area like the Shire. They're forest dwellers, known for their ability to hide and camouflage themselves to live undetected in their quiet communities and campgrounds. In fact, some other communities don't even know they exist!

When you first meet Elanor “Nori” Brandyfoot (Markella Kavenaugh) and Poppy Proudfellow (Megan Richards) in Amazon’s “Lord of the Rings” prequel series “The Rings of Power,” another famous duo comes to mind. Nori and Poppy, after all, are Harfoots, ancestors of Hobbits. Nori is adventurous; Poppy is nervous. They come off instantly as this Tolkien adaptation’s version of Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee, the pair that would ultimately destroy the One Ring, played in the films by Elijah Wood and Sean Astin.
But co-showrunner Patrick McKay says that’s not really who they had in mind when writing these short, hairy-footed friends. “I have to tell you, what we talked about was Lucy Ricardo and Ethel Mertz,” he said to IndieWire, referencing the “I Love Lucy” pals. Of course, McKay admits that he would probably also make the Frodo and Sam analogy too. It’s there for the taking.

The first two episodes of “The Rings of Power” have finally premiered on Prime Video, kicking off season 1 of the prequel series about the Second Age of Middle-earth about a time set several thousand years before the events of “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit”.
During this era of peace and prosperity, there are subtle signs of re-emerging evil as many characters’ lives come crashing together. Among them are the lumbering giant (Daniel Weyman), who crash lands on Middle-earth via a meteor, and the Harfoot, Elanor ‘Nori’ Brandyfoot (Markella Kavenagh), who discovers him.
Now that the first two episodes are streaming, both Weyman and Kavenagh address the many theories about the stranger’s true identify, including a popular one that he’s Gandalf, the wise and powerful wizard originally played by Sir Ian McKellen in Peter Jackson’s film adaptations of the novels. [Warning: Spoilers for the first two episodes of “The Rings of Power”.]

It’s been eight long years since the epic The Hobbit trilogy concluded with The Battle of the Five Armies, but now the wait is finally over for Tolkien fans: it’s time to go back to Middle-earth. This new saga from showrunners Jd Payne and Patrick McKay, based on Jrr Tolkien’s lengthy appendices to The Lord of the Rings, gets off to a spectacular, cinematic start despite being designed for home streaming rather than theatres. Here’s a breakdown of what happened and who we met in the first two episodes of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Beware, here be spoilers:
“Nothing is evil in the beginning”
The first episode opens in the fabled realm of Valinor, “the Land across the Sea”. This is the home of the Elves, where young princess Galadriel is playing in a field, making a beautiful and ornate paper ship.

At the end of the first episode of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” one of two installments dropped by Amazon Prime Video on the show’s launch day, young Harfoot Elanor “Nori” Brandyfoot (Markella Kavenagh) follows a fiery object that’s come shooting down from the skies of Middle-earth to find a mysterious, barely clothed man unconscious at the center of a flaming crater that’s been hollowed out in the earth. [Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Episodes 1 & 2.] The “Meteor Man” in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is quite the mysterious figure. Called the Stranger for now, Daniel Weyman‘s character careened through the sky in a blazing ball of fire and crashed into Rhovanion (home of the harfoots) in the final moments of the series premiere, which debuted in tandem with Episode 2 on Thursday, September 1 at 9/8c on Prime Video. While everyone in Middle-earth bore witness to his descent (truly everyone — his arrival gave us the first view of the ents!), his bombastic landing was only witnessed by the wide-eyed, rule-breaking harfoot Nori Brandyfoot (Markella Kavenagh). Nori spends all of Episode 2 keeping the Stranger a secret from her hobbit-ancestor community with the reluctant help of her good friend Poppy Proudfellow (Megan Richards). So, who is the Stranger? By nature of his concealed identity,...

Spoiler Alert: The story includes details about Episode 2 of The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power.
The second episode of Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power follows four different stories that weave in and out: Galadriel in the ocean, the Harfoots, the Southlanders and Elrond reuniting with Durin.
Starting right where Episode 1 left off, Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) is shown alone in the ocean as she starts swimming towards what we hope is land.
Thankfully, she finds a raft from a wreckage with some human survivors on it. Despite arguing amongst themselves, they agree to allow Galadriel aboard. However, the second they realize she’s an elf, they blame her for what happened to them and one of them pushes her off. This ends up saving her, though, as the beast who sank the humans’ ship destroys the raft, with only Galadriel and one human,...

The magic of the elves bestows gifts upon you, mortal. Prime Video has released the first two episodes of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power," earlier than expected. Though the release date is listed as Friday, September 2, 2022 (the anniversary of the passing of author J.R.R. Tolkien), Prime Video often drops their newest offerings a little early. We lucky fans are getting a bit of a speed boost in our journey to Middle-earth.
The series is set in the Second Age, thousands of years before the events of "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" trilogies, though we'll see some familiar characters like Galadriel and Elrond. This is so long ago that the Hobbits as we know them aren't in existence yet. Instead, we'll see their predecessors, the proto-Hobbits.

To celebrate the hugely-anticipated release of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which finally arrives on Amazon Prime Video this week, we had the pleasure of sitting down with its huge ensemble cast and showrunners to find out more.
Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and one of the greatest villains that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.

“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is only days away, and the Amazon Prime Video series has earned mostly rave reviews with a few mixed reactions (and one flat-out pan) as critics returned to Middle-earth.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power sets out its sprawling epic fantasy credentials right from the off: even its title seems like it could be split into multiple instalments. Laden with a name as unwieldy as an orc’s battleaxe, the Prime Video series also arrives under a staggering weight of expectation. In 2017, when Amazon paid author Jrr Tolkien’s estate 250m (£211m) not for the rights to remake Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit but merely to set a story within the author’s fantastical world of Middle-earth, financial observers described the deal as “insane”. Jeff Bezos’ omnipotent empire has reportedly spent a further 462m on this first season, which averages out at nearly 60m an episode. By comparison HBO’s Game of Thrones, the blockbuster fantasy hit whose runaway success Amazon evidently hope to emulate, cost a relatively reasonable 15m per episode. For what Amazon’s paying,...

“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” Amazon Studios’ ambitious fantasy series based on the works of author J.R.R. Tolkien and reportedly the most expensive television series ever made, premieres Sept. 2 on Amazon Prime Video. But as the social embargo lifts, critics and fans who have seen the first two episodes ahead of time are flocking to Twitter to share their opinions on the highly anticipated series.
Eric Francisco, senior film/TV writer at Inverse, hailed “Rings of Power” as “big, bold and beautiful” but indicated uncertainty as to whether the prequel series will “sit alongside” Peter Jackson’s film trilogy or “deserve Tolkien’s name.”
“For now, it’s all the maximalist pizazz one might expect from a historically expensive production,” he wrote.

There are many elements of Middle-earth and the "Lord of the Rings" movies that have become part of popular culture, including the way elves and dwarves look, or the existence of ents. But while people love their elves and ancient human kings, there is no Middle-earth without hobbits.
Out of all the creatures that inhabit Arda, there is nothing quite like hobbits. As Gandalf once said, hobbits really are amazing creatures. "You can learn all that there is to know about their ways in a month, and yet after a hundred years they can still surprise you at a pinch."
Indeed, where would the Fellowship of the Ring be without the hobbits? Would the ents have attacked Isengard without Meriadoc Brandybuck convincing Treebeard to have an Entmoot to decide whether to get involved in the war? Would the army of Rohan have made it to Minas Tirith without Peregrin Took?...

Anyone who's ever read J.R.R. Tolkien's beloved children's book "The Hobbit" knows just how big a role the author's diminutive, large-footed species has played in Middle-earth events. Frodo, Sam, Bilbo, and all the rest more than earned their places in the (fictional) history books with incredible feats and relentless determination in the face of grave danger, inspiring countless readers -- and eventually viewers, as well, many of whom fell in love with them thanks to Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" film trilogies.
Amazon's upcoming "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" series takes place thousands of years before the events of those stories, and portrays the distant ancestors of those pint-sized heroes through the beings known as Harfoots. This new story occupies an interesting niche, releasing nearly 20 years after the original trilogy came to an epic close with "The Return of the King.

"Each of us… every one… must decide who we shall be." It's time to return to Middle Earth!! Amazon has revealed one final official trailer for Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, their epic adventure series arriving streaming starting in September. Is everyone excited for this?! The series is set thousands of years before the events of Tolkien’s Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged… The full cast includes Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Markella Kavenagh, Sophia Nomvete, Lenny Henry, Charlie Vickers, Megan Richards, Maxim Baldry, & many more. This is one of the best trailers so far, and actually makes me feel good about this series, as everything else has looked fairly mediocre. The VFX are finally polished and it has an epic feel, especially with the dialogue...

Prime Video wants all eyes on its highly-anticipated Lord of the Rings prequel, The Rings of Power.
The promotional train has been in overdrive for months, and now, we have an exciting new trailer.
The series is set thousands of years before any of the Hobbit or Lord of the Rings movies, so there's a great deal of skepticism about whether the story will be a worthy entry to the universe.
Galadriel takes center stage in the latest clip, showcasing battles, breathtaking locations, and a lot of drama.
Knowing very little about the story, the trailer is certainly a spectacle of what should be a lot of fun.
Prime Video has invested heavily in this universe, so they will want the series to land well with fans of the franchise.
We don't have long to wait, since the series premiere is set for September 2 around the world.

Fantasy fever is hitting the globe. While "House of the Dragon" recently jumped out to a rip-roaring start, its reign as the biggest and most dominant series of its genre in this volatile and hard-to-predict streaming age will prove to be relatively short-lived. In just a few short weeks, a major challenger will emerge for its share of attention and eyeballs. Who will win? Well, nerds, of course!
"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" comes with years of hype and anticipation, not to mention all sorts of pressure from passionate fans (including the creators themselves!) to get it right. Adapting the writings of groundbreaking author J.R.R. Tolkien is never to be taken lightly, even if that source material mostly comes from an assortment of notes and collections found in the appendices of "The Return of the King," as opposed to the actual "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy itself.

Immersing themselves in a truly Indian experience, the cast and crew of the epic drama experienced the grandeur of the Gateway of India. They also interacted with Mumbai’s dabbawalas. They not only clicked pictures with the dabbawalas, but also didn’t leave any chance to get into the real feel of...
