More than five decades into their career, Judas Priest have always been one of metal’s most reliably great bands, likely because the responsibility they feel to the genre weighs just as heavily as the music they make. They never want to let down their fans, the “heavy metal maniacs,” as lead shrieker Rob Halford dubbed them long ago, even as they’ve pressed forward in the face of adversity in recent years. Guitarist Glenn Tipton, a bona fide metal icon known for his electrifying solos, revealed he’d been...

Judas Priest are gearing up to release a new studio album, Invincible Shield, on March 8th, but fans don’t have to wait that long to hear new music from the band. The metal legends have unveiled the video for “Trial by Fire” as the second single from the LP.
“Trial by Fire” features some classic metal riffage from guitarists Richie Faulkner and Glenn Tipton, along with singer Rob Halford’s anthemic vocals. It follows the album’s debut single, “Panic Attack,” which arrived last month.
“Trial by Fire” and “Panic Attack” follow the ’70s metal sound that Faulkner had hinted about the new album. During a recent interview with Audio Ink Radio, Faulkner said this album was “a bit more ’70s Priest, which I welcome as a guitar player.”
However, he added that it was “not a retro album, by any means. It’s the influence of ’70s Priest in the progressive sense,...

Judas Priest have endured in one form or another for more than 50 years, and on their new single, “Trial by Fire,” they recognize their own fortitude. “Bound and abused, branded a liar/I have endured trial by fire,” frontman Rob Halford sings in the chorus, growling the word “fire” a little more each time he sings it.
The track, which naturally features some pyrotechnic guitar playing by Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner, will feature on the band’s upcoming Invincible Shield album, due out March 3, 2024.

From 1969 to 2011, K.K. Downing was a member of Judas Priest, and alongside Glenn Tipton made up one of metal’s all-time greatest guitar tandems. The pair helped power such classic albums as British Steel, Screaming for Vengeance, and Painkiller, along with headbanging anthems like “Breaking the Law,” “Living After Midnight,” and “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’.”
After Downing’s exit, Priest carried on with guitarist Richie Faulkner. But when it was announced in 2018 that Tipton was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and would no longer tour (aside from special appearances), it seemingly opened the door for Downing to return. But ultimately, the vacated slot went to Andy Sneap, the co-producer of Priest’s 2018 album, Firepower.
Despite a brief performance with Judas Priest at the band’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last year, Downing says the door is now shut on a reunion.

Judas Priest, heavy metal’s perennial Defenders of the Faith, will return stronger than ever next spring with Invincible Shield, their 19th album. The record’s first single, “Panic Attack,” will arrive this week, on the most fitting day for a panic attack, Friday the 13th. The group announced the release, due out March 3, over the weekend during their appearance at the Power Trip festival in Indio, California. The LP follows up 2018’s Firepower, which Rolling Stone dubbed one of the Best Metal Albums of that year.

AC/DC took to the stage for the first time in seven years on Saturday night of the Power Trip festival.
It was the first time lead vocalist Brian Johnson performed live with the group since September 2016 in Philadelphia, following a 79-date Rock or Bust world tour. The ill-fated trek required the services of Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose for the final 22 stops after Johnson bowed out with hearing loss issues.

AC/DC played their first show in seven years on Saturday night (October 7th) at the Power Trip festival in Indio, California. The evening also featured a set by fellow Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Judas Priest.
For this Power Trip gig, AC/DC’s lineup featured classic members Brian Johnson (vocals), Angus Young (lead guitar), and Cliff Williams (bass) alongside Stevie Young (rhythm guitar) and drummer Matt Laug.
Guns N’ Roses and Iron Maiden set the bar high at Power Trip the night before, but AC/DC were up to the challenge, showing no signs of rust as they ripped into “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It),” marking the first time they’ve ever kicked off a set with the Highway to Hell song.
From there, the 24-song set featured one classic after another, with the very next tune being the iconic “Back in Black,” followed by other favorites like “Thunderstruck,...

When Dolly Parton learned she was going to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, her first reaction was to tell her supporters not to vote for her since she saw herself as strictly a country artist. But when she walked onstage near the end of the induction ceremony Saturday night at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, after witnessing an incredible evening of music by artists as diverse as Eminem, Judas Priest, Lionel Richie, and Duran Duran, a beaming Parton had a very different take on the situation.

Judas Priest marked their long-awaited induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with a supersized performance of three of their most beloved songs Saturday.
Despite years of estrangement and sharp barbs in the press, the quintet — in their signature leather, studs, and metal chains — welcomed original guitarist K.K. Downing and former drummer Les Binks for likely the loudest performance of the night. The group is one of only a handful of heavy metal bands to claw their way into the institution.

This year, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has once again nominated heavy-metal pioneers Judas Priest for induction. The fact that the group has been eligible for 22 years now and isn’t yet in the Hall after three times on the ballot doesn’t sit well with Kerry King, the former Slayer guitarist, who has been a massive Priest fan since high school.
“Some years, you hear who got in the Rock Hall and you’re like, ‘Well, how did they get in above these other bands?'” he says.

It always pays to read the fine print, the name at the bottom of a concert bill or ticket that later makes you wish you could impress your rock & roll friends with those magic words — “Hey, man, I was at that gig.” Here is a good example: There are 70 bands on the poster for the 2019 Epicenter festival in North Carolina — a three-day heavy-music banquet this May in the perfectly named small town of Rockingham — and the headliners come from all over the past and present: Foo Fighters, Tool, Korn and...

Former Judas Priest guitarist K.K. Downing recalls having a revelation at some point in the mid-Seventies. “I looked across at my bandmates and thought, ‘What the hell are they wearing?'” he tells Rolling Stone with a hearty laugh. At the time, the group was decking themselves out in frilly, silken pastel outfits, even though frontman Rob Halford was singing about classic heavy-metal tropes like death, destruction and rising above adversity. The look didn’t jibe with the message.

Judas Priest, heavy metal legends, released the title song of their upcoming album Redeemer of Souls, their first new music in six years on Monday.
Judas Priest released “Redeemer of Souls” on YouTube and the song is also available for download on iTunes.
“Redeemer of Souls” is the first song from the band recorded without K.K. Downing, a founding member and guitarist of the group who left the band in 2011. Instead, new Judas Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner makes his debut with the band.
Rob Halford, Judas Priest’s frontman, has high hopes for their upcoming album, saying, “It’s heavy. It’s something we think our Priest fans will be thrilled with. We know we have a reputation to maintain, and we know we have to deliver something really strong and solid. The album is going to be full of all the great things you love about Judas Priest.”

Followers of the metal were shocked when earlier this year Judas Priest guitarist Kk Downing announced he was leaving the band after 40 years. His replacement is young Londoner Richie Faulkner -- a man who knows how to set his fretboard alight and melt your face, while remaining cool as ice onstage.
The ex-Ace Mafia and Lauren Harris man took some time out during Priest's current Epitaph World Tour to discuss his “dream” new life and being a sci-fi geek.
Geeks of Doom: Were you welcomed into the band?
Richie Faulkner: Absolutely. They’ve been nothing short of welcoming on every front really, on a personal level and a musical level as well. We arranged some of the songs live to put some extra guitar solos in there to showcase what I can do and you can’t get more welcome than that. Judas Priest have hinted that their fall North American 'Epitaph Tour' could be the band's swansong. The 'Breaking the Law' rockers pioneered the heavy metal genre in the late 1970s with their trademark hard-driving guitar riffs and singer Rob Halford's leather stage attire. Judas Priest guitarist Glenn Tipton has now admitted that after selling millions of albums and headlining venues all over the world for more than 40 years, it's time for the group to take on a less-demanding touring schedule. "It's not exactly the end of the band, it's just the fact that we won't really be doing any more world tours," Tipton disclosed to Rolling Stone. "It takes a big chunk out of your life. We've been doing it for 40 years now or close to it, and we all love that moment on stage, but it's difficult (more)...
