2017-12-06T12:00:18-08:00Alec Baldwin Doesn't Like John Oliver's Show (or Does He?)
Alec Baldwin might want to clarify his thoughts before he tweets. He faced backlash this week after he appeared to criticize John Oliver, host of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, and Stephen Colbert for their treatment of accused sexual harassers. Baldwin said that shows like Oliver's and Colbert's have become more like "grand juries" than the "blithe chit chat" they used to be. Baldwin later appeared to hedge, saying that he wasn't actually taking a stance on the issue, but many Twitter users weren't buying it.

In the past week, two women have publicly accused Dustin Hoffman of sexual harassment, allegations which have renewed interest in Meryl Streep’s nearly-four-decade-old claim that her “Kramer vs. Kramer” co-star introduced himself by grabbing her breast. Slate tracked down a Time article from 1979 — the year the film came out — in which Streep recalls auditioning for a play Hoffman was directing. “He came up to me and said, ‘I’m Dustin — burp — Hoffman,’ and he put his hand on my breast,” the actress told Time. “What an obnoxious pig, I thought.”

In the wake of Wednesday’s shocking allegation, a second woman has now accused Dustin Hoffman of sexual harassment.
Speaking to Variety, Wendy Riss Gatsiounis (Reign, Genius), claims that Hoffman propositioned her for sex during a period of time in 1991, when the two were working together with Murray Schisgal on a potential film adaptation of A Darker Purpose. I have the utmost respect for women and feel terrible that anything I might have done could have put her in an uncomfortable situation. I am sorry. It is not reflective of who I am.

Kevin Spacey’s representative has confirmed the actor is now seeking “evaluation” and “treatment” following numerous accusations of sexual harassment made against him. According to the representative’s statement (via Variety): “Kevin Spacey is taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment. No other information is available at this time.”
Spacey was first publicly accused of sexual harassment by “Star Trek: Discovery” and “Rent” actor Anthony Rapp. In a Buzzfeed report published on October 30, Rapp claimed Spacey made sexual advances toward him in 1986. The two men had met that year at Broadway-related events since they were each starring in new shows (Rapp in “Precious Sons,” Spacey in “Long Day’s Journey Into Night”). Dustin Hoffman has been accused of sexual harassment by television producer and writer Wendy Riss Gatsiounis (“Reign,” “Genius”). The producer told Variety that Hoffman allegedly harassed and propositioned her for sex during a period of time in 1991 when she was working with the actor and “Tootsie” screenwriter Murray Schisgal on a potential film adaptation of her play, “A Darker Purpose.”
According to Riss Gatsiounis, two meetings occurred between the three parties in 1991. The young writer was hoping the film version of “A Darker Purpose” would be her big break and she had scheduled meetings with Hoffman and Schisgal to hopefully get the development process started.
