Anna Chlumsky's family roots extend to Moe, Larry, Curly and Frankenstein.
Chlumsky, who plays Amy, chief of staff to Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Vice President Selina Meyer, on HBO's Sunday comedy "Veep," had a great-grandfather who was in vaudeville.
"He opened for the Stooges, and he had a trained bear," Chlumsky tells Zap2it. "Vaudeville ended, and all these guys had to get other jobs, so my great-grandfather was -- I think he was a cop. At that point he told my grandmother that she couldn't have a prom dress, and she was very sad. And he wrote Mae Clarke, whom he had known, and asked, 'What do I do?' And she sent him -- sometimes the story is she sent him the trunk, sometimes that she sent him the dress -- the story changes depending on the holiday."
Still, it's a great story that your grandmother's prom dress was in "Frankenstein.

Rio De Janeiro (AP) — As millions watch the sequin-clad samba dancers at Rio de Janeiro's iconic Carnival parade Sunday, at least a few eyes will turn toward the stars, or at least toward the VIP boxes hosting celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez and Fergie.
The Carnival parade has been attracting top celebrities for much of its 80-year-long existence. Many are brought in by attention-hungry Brazilian advertisers hoping to share some of the glow of the world's biggest party.
This year, beer company Brahma is promoting Lopez while hair care company Head and Shoulders is hosting Fergie. Neither will actually parade in the all-night-long event, but they're expected to watch and perhaps wave from the posh VIP seats at the Sambadrome as 13 samba schools pull out all the stops in a fierce, sweaty competition before tens of thousands live and many more watching on television.

Though you might remember Anna Chlumsky as the perky child star of "My Girl" and "Gold Diggers," you can stop pretending that the 29-year-old actress is still a kid. After some years off from acting, during which she pursued a different career altogether, Chlumsky resurfaced on both the small screen (with appearances on "30 Rock" and last year's "Cupid") and the big one (the Oscar-nominated "In the Loop"). Next up for her is writer-director Julio DePietro's romantic dramedy "The Good Guy," starring Alexis Bledel as an urban conservationist in Manhattan who is torn between two Wall Street traders (Scott Porter and Bryan Greenberg), one of whom works for the other. In a brief but memorable supporting role, Chlumsky plays one of Bledel's upwardly mobile friends who has just been burned in the New York dating game. In support of the film, Chlumsky called me to discuss dating, bars, what brought her back into acting,...
