The reboot of popular 2000s Disney Channel sitcom Lizzie McGuire was cancelled. Now, one of its writers has revealed a few new details about its plot.
Hilary Duff was a huge star among pre-teens in the early 2000s thanks to her portrayal of the eponymous character in Disney Channel sitcom Lizzie McGuire – and its subsequent movie.
The show followed the awkward, klutzy teen as she navigated life, school with best friends Gordo and Miranda, played by Adam Lamberg and Lalaine. There was also her family – her younger brother Matt, played by Jake Thomas, and her embarrassing parents, played by Hallie Todd and Robert Carradine – whose brother David appeared in one episode as a mentor to Matt when he made his own kung fu film.
One memorable aspect of the show was the frequent use of an animated version of Lizzie, which represented her inner monologue. The show’s popularity led...

“How I Met Your Father” is what dreams are made of! The Hulu series dropped a major Easter egg in the latest episode – a tongue-and-cheek reference to one of Hilary Duff‘s most memorable TV roles, “Lizzie McGuire“.
In the episode, titled “A Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Valentine’s Day,” which saw the gang revisiting their worst Valentine’s Day experiences, Sophie (Duff) reflects on a memory from when she was 13 years old.
The scene then cuts to a very familiar-looking one from “Lizzie McGuire”, which happens to be the season 2 episode, “First Kiss,” where a teenage Lizzie (a younger Duff) goes through all the stages of a relationship in mere days. In the “Lizzie McGuire” callback, Lizzie is too busy doing the whole “No, you hang up first” exchange over the phone with a boy to notice her friend, Miranda (Lalaine), getting increasingly annoyed by the second.

Warning: This story contains spoilers from “A Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Valentine’s Day,” the March 7 episode of “How I Met Your Father,” now streaming on Hulu.
Does Lizzie McGuire grow up to be Sophie Tompkins? It sure looks like. During Tuesday’s episode of “How I Met Your Father,” the group reflects on their past Valentine’s Day experiences. When it’s Sophie’s (Hilary Duff) turn, she has a flashback to when she was 13. Then, a clip of the Season 2 premiere of “Lizzie McGuire,” which aired in Feb 2002, is shown, during which she’s talking on the phone to her boyfriend while Miranda (Lalaine) is at her side.
So, does that mean that Sophie and Lizzie are the same person? “I’m not confirming that, but it felt like a really fun thing for us to do,” executive producer Elizabeth Berger tells Variety. “We got a temperature check from Hilary,...

Monica Chowdry (Sujata Day) was everything her Indian immigrant parents could have hoped from a child. Not only did she win the national Scribbs Spelling Bee, but she also became somewhat of a young intellectual celebrity courtesy of the victory tour with photographic keepsakes alongside Oprah Winfrey and fellow Pittsburgh-area native M. Night Shyamalan as well as an episode of television with host LeVar Burton that her mother (Anna Khaja’s Jaya) still watches to this day almost twenty years later. The sky was the limit and expectations were astronomical, yet here she is still living at home and working as a tutor for new, hopeful spelling champions. Not even confirmation of a research job in Cleveland can light a fire. Maybe this quiet life is all she wanted.

If you thought the news of a Lizzie McGuire revival was amazing enough, wait until you hear this: Disney+ is staging an all-out McGuire family reunion! Lizzie McGuire's forthcoming sequel series at Disney+ is staging a full-fledged family reunion.
The streamer revealed Thursday that Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine, and Jake Thomas have all been locked in to reprise their roles from the original series.
Hilary Duff will, once again, take on the title role.
According to the synopsis, “the new story picks up as Lizzie McGuire is just about to turn 30. She seemingly has it all – her dream job as an assistant to a fancy New York City decorator, her dream guy and a picturesque Brooklyn apartment – but things aren’t always as they seem."
"With a little help from her friends, her loving family and her 13 year-old alter-ego in animated form, Lizzie navigates the ups and downs of adulthood.”
The original series ran on Disney Channel from 2001 to 2004, paving the way for a big-screen movie that took the character all the way to Italy.

Disney+ is gearing up to take over the world, or, at the very least, provide stiff competition to other streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu.
Launching November 12 in the Us, Canada, and the Netherlands (and a week later in Australia and New Zealand), Disney's streaming platform has already made lots of commotion in the entertainment world.
Those who scoffed at adding another streaming service are now re-thinking their stance after hearing Disney's plans for programming.
Not only is Disney+ planning to offer classic films, but they're also rebooting nostalgic favorites, and expanding the Marvel universe with several new shows, both animated and live-action.

Lizzie McGuire is getting the reboot treatment!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, a sequel series has been picked up at Disney+, and Hilary Duff is attached to lead the cast once again.
Yes, that means the series will not be forgetting the events of the past. Instead, it will be a full-fledged revival. That's a major positive!
Lizzie will be a 30-year-old millennial navigating life in New York City. It sounds oddly familiar to the character Duff plays on Younger, but we'll reserve judgment until we have more details.
It has yet to be confirmed whether any of Duff's co-stars from the original series will be returning for this new iteration.
Lalaine, Adam Lamberg, Jake Thomas, Hallie Todd, and Robert Carradine were all part of the talented cast of the 2001-04 TV series which spanned two seasons.

Oh, "Lizzie McGuire." How could we have made it through our painfully awkward adolescence without you?
There are few shows more important to anyone who grew up in the 2000s than The Disney Channel's "Lizzie McGuire." Lizzie (Hilary Duff) -- along with besties Gordo (Adam Lamberg) and Miranda (Lalaine) -- handled life's most humiliating moments with class. Ok, not really, but they made middle school life so much better by showing us all that you can get through the misery with humor, heart, and the support of family and friends. Also, emphasis on the humor.
So, in honor of the special place where "Lizzie McGuire" lives in our hearts, here are some of the show's most important/memorable moments.

If you were a fan of Nickelodeon's "All That" in the '90s, you probably couldn't get enough of Lori Beth Denberg! The actress' most infamous skit was "Vital Information for Your Everyday Life," where she spouted off hilarious advice like "If you're on time, that's good. If you're on fire, try yelling "Aaaahhhh!!!" If you're itching for more of her sarcastic humor, you're in luck! The now-38-year-old star made a cameo with "Lizzie McGuire's" Lalaine in Raymond & Lane's latest webisode called "Guns N' Daffodils." Check out the clip below to see these two back in action! So, what has Denberg been up to since her stint on Nickelodeon? After Lori Beth left the show in 1998, she went on to play Lydia on "The Steve Harvey Show" from 1998-2002. In 2004, she landed a role in "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story" and worked alongside Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn,...

Taking a break from her Tinder app, Hilary Duff headed out to a Los Angeles bowling alley to meet up with her “Lizzie McGuire” pals Lalaine and Jake Thomas last night (April 28).
And of course there was plenty of social media buzz about the reunion, thanks to Thomas’ post, “So this happened last night… #LizzieMcGuire,” and Lalaine’s tweet, “#About last night #AMomentLikeThis.”
Back in September, Hilary was asked by the Huffington Post about the chances of a Lizzie McGuire reboot and she sounded positive- "I love it! I would be totally open to it. My schedule is a little busy right now. But um … why not?"...

Well, this photo put a smile on my face and also made me feel incredibly old, all at the same time. Fans of the Disney Channel series Lizzie McGuire, which ran from 2001 to 2004 on the network, got a little bit of a cast reunion yesterday, when Jake Thomas, who played Lizzie’s (Hilary Duff, currently starring on TVLand’s Younger with Sutton Foster) younger brother Matt, posted a photo of him, Duff, and Lalaine (who played Lizzie’s best friend, Miranda, on the series) all together on Instagram. Thomas posted the photo yesterday afternoon, simply writing, “So this happened last night.” There’s no other details on what exactly brought the former castmates together; however, this isn’t the first time that Thomas has given fans a Lizzie McGuire reunion photo to get excited about. Only three months ago, he put up a photo of him, Lalaine, and Clayton Snyder,...

Actor Jake Thomas, aka Lizzie's brother, Matt McGuire, shared an Instagram of his moment with Hilary and series regular Lalaine, who played Lizzie's best friend, Miranda Sanchez. "So this happened last night... #LizzieMcGuire," he wrote. The snap shows the stars embracing each other at a bowling alley. Sadly, Adam Lamberg (Gordo) wasn't there to add to the good times. These days, Hilary is staying busy with her new show, Younger; releasing new music; and raising her adorable son, Luca. Last year, though, the actress suggested she might be open to a reunion episode of Disney's modern classic. If the cast's Instagram has you excited, look back at 31 reasons a TV reunion needs to happen.

Dating can be nerve-racking, but not when you have a little help from some old friends! Hilary Duff revealed on Tuesday that she would be going on her first Tinder date, and it seems, she invited her "Lizzie McGuire" costars to come along. Jake Thomas, who played Matt McGuire on the popular show, posted a pic from a night out with Hil on Instagram, where he was seen posing with Duff and Lalaine Vergara -- a.k.a Miranda. While we love seeing the "Lizzie" cast back together, we're dying to know how the date went with a lucky guy named Tom. "We went bowling so we didn't have to talk too much, but we did talk a lot actually," the "Younger" star said on "On Air With Ryan Seacrest." "He was cool. He brought a friend and I had some friends there. He used to be in editing for reality shows.

When Hilary Duff goes bowling, it's a very notable event. The actress opened up about her very first Tinder date Tuesday morning, telling On Air With Ryan Seacrest she went bowling with a mystery man named Tom and some friends, but she left out one tiny secret...her date doubled as a Lizzie McGuire reunion! Lizzie, Miranda (Lalaine) and little brother Matt (Jake Thomas) were all bowling alongside Duff's friends and Tom's friends. "So this happened last night... #LizzieMcGuire," Thomas captioned the pic. But we have one extremely important question: Where is Gordo (Adam Lamberg)?! Didn't he and Lizzie fall for one another after she realized Paulo was a scummy pop star?...

Hoping to follow in the success of his first serious journey into the cinematic field, writer/director Babar Ahmed (he won multiple awards on the festival circuit in 2003 for his debut feature Genius) turns his attention from the Romantic Drama department to the Action/Thriller genre with his latest effort, the martial arts-driven Royal Kill. The feature, compiled on a shoestring budget boasts an impressive cast, some great aerial camera shots, fluid action scenes and a few interesting script surprises. Know what's fun? When a production company tries to sell its film by reminding us of its unstoppable awfulness. It' doesn't happen all that often, but yesterday I received an email from the production company behind a new action flm called Royal Kill -- and the email was basically a miniature press release about a powerfully negative Washington Post review of Royal Kill. (The film was shot in D.C., which probably explains why it opened -- and got reviewed -- there).
I'll include the rest of the awesome press release after the jump, but here's the gist: According to the IMDb, Royal Kill packs a cast list that includes Eric Roberts, "Lalaine," Wrestlemania's Gail Kim, and the late Pat Morita as "exhibition manager." Apparently it's just a really rotten low-budget action flick, and Dan Zak's Post review certainly doesn't inspire a lot of interest, but to get a publicity...
