The final Rolling Stones album with contributions from original drummer Charlie Watts will be out later this year, the band’s first new music in 18 years.
But that’s not all – Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are reported to be contributors on the new recording. The album would be the first Stones album since the Grammy-winning covers album Blue & Lonesome in 2016, and the first of original material since A Bigger Bang in 2005.
Any Beatles participation is sure to spark speculation on concerts. The Stones have used Darryl Jones on bass since 1993, when Bill Wyman retired, with drummer Steve Jordan filling the Watts chair for the Stones on its most recent tour. Watts died in 2021 at age 80.
For those unfamiliar, McCartney plays bass, while Ringo plays drums.
Whether this means there will be some team-ups at live shows remains to be seen. The Stones have teased dates in the summer and fall of this year,...

The Rolling Stones seemed to be a magnet for controversy during their heyday. John Lennon expected them to face backlash in the 1980s, but they angered some anxious journalists years before that decade. Charlie Watts stole the promotional trick The Rolling Stones used before their 1975 tour and left a trail of upset rock journos in their wake, according to Ronnie Wood.

When Chanel Haynes showed up at Milan’s San Siro Stadium to sing “Gimme Shelter” with the Rolling Stones on June 21, she had a lot on her mind: She had spent the past few months in London portraying Tina Turner in the West End production of Tina, and there was a show that night. But this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity — alongside a good chance to cede the stage to her understudy — even though it would eventually cost her her day job. On the last-minute flight to Italy, she played several different renditions of “Gimme Shelter,...

Now there's something you don't see too often — an Emmy night that actually makes good television. The Emmys are usually one of those pop-culture Zen koans: Why is an award show for TV such a painful little hate-watch? But this year's model was easily the most entertaining Emmy bash since Conan O'Brien hosted in 2008, a welcome change after last year's debacle. Jimmy Kimmel kept things moving and got the whole event done and dusted in three hours — with a minute or two to spare, actually. Yes, there was still plenty...

Let's all applaud Keith Richards for surviving the '60s — or, well, just surviving. Today the Rolling Stones guitarist and man who nearly burned down the Playboy Mansion by setting the bathroom on fire confirmed he is set to release his first solo album in 23 years, on September 18. It's proof he is basically unstoppable.Crosseyed Heart will be a 15-track smorgasbord featuring Keef’s take on reggae, honky-tonk, blues, and rock. Special guests include jazz singer Norah Jones, who co-wrote the ballad “Illusion,” and Aaron Neville, who provides backing vocals on the track “Nothing on Me.” Richards wrote and produced most of the songs with longtime collaborator and drummer Steve Jordan; guitar mainstay Waddy Wachtel joined in the studio as well as other members of Richards's backing band the X-pensive Winos. The first single, “Trouble,” is set to drop July 17. “I had a ball making this new record and working...

When you think of the average eighth-grader from East Flatbush, Brooklyn, you probably aren't thinking of Unlocking the Truth. And that's to their advantage. The three boys - guitarist Malcolm Brickhouse, 13; bassist Alec Atkins, 13; and drummer Jarad Dawkins, 12 - play heavy metal, a genre choice that places them at odds with their peers, though it's working to their advantage: The group just signed a record contract with Sony that's potentially worth up to $1.7 million. The group's profile grew steadily over the past year: A video of them busking in Manhattan (their music decidedly against the grain of typical street musicians) went viral,...

She posted on Facebook, "The album has been recorded but I can't release it until then [September].
