What began when Siobhan Fahey looked up her old friends from 80s London, grew into a vital document of a tough community at the forefront of the gay rights struggle
“Rebel dykes” is a new term for an old mood. It was coined retrospectively to describe a sprawling group of acquaintances who partied and protested their way through London in the 1980s. And it is now the title of a raucous feature-length documentary about them.
The film begins at the Greenham Common peace camp in the late 70s, takes in a lesbian S&m club night which became a flashpoint for “the raging sex wars” between radical feminists and “leather dykes”, tells of gay pubs and clubs, punk bands and friendship groups, anti-section 28 protesters who abseiled into the House of Lords, censorship, discrimination and, ultimately, liberation. It is a fabulously joyful and celebratory testament to community and resilience during difficult times.

Cary Joji Fukunaga’s long awaited Bond flick “No Time to Die,” the final instalment featuring long-time lead Daniel Craig, will close this year’s EnergaCamerimage International Film Festival, presented by Joji Fukunaga (“Beasts of No Nation”) himself and the film’s Oscar-winning cinematographer Lunus Sandgren (“La La Land”).
“This is the first time Cary Joji Fukunaga and Linus Sandgren collaborated on a film project, yet the result is just the kind of visual spectacle we hoped for given their artistic portfolios,” said the festival in a release accompanying the announcement.
This will be Joji Fukunaga’s first time attending EnergaCamerimage in person, although his film “Jane Eyre” and the “True Detective” pilot episode he directed both screened at the fest. Sandgren is becoming something of an EnergaCamerimage regular, having presented in person two films on which he worked, Damien Chazelle’s “La La Land” and “First Man.”

‘Rebel Dykes’ and ‘Bosco’ Filmmakers Discuss Using Archival Material to Document Marginalized Groups
Film can provide a vital lens for documenting histories which have otherwise been overlooked or swept away in the wake of a dominant narrative.
During a panel at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, titled “The Whole Picture: Adjusting the Lens of History,” a quartet of filmmakers, artists and archivists gathered to discuss how we document and archive the kinds of communities and stories that are often sidelined.
Siobhan Fahey, the archive producer on documentary “Rebel Dykes,” said she realized the history of the titular group of queer activists, who upset the system and built a community of outsiders in 1980s London, had been largely lost.
“I was a Rebel Dyke myself, but I’d never seen it in the books, I’d never read about it. Although I knew when I was living it that it was an exciting and important moment, it just disappeared as soon as it was over,...

Hello and welcome to this weeks review of Aew: Dark… Didn’t Tony Khan saw one of the tow “Dark” shows was going to change now they’re back on the road? Doesn’t look like it to me. In fact it looks like we’re back to overly-long, overly-average episodes of Dark and Elevation. See for yourself:
Match #1: Matt Hardy def. Jah-c
My Thoughts: As usual Matt hardy looks clumsy throughout this match, with Jah-c making him look even slower than usual with his fast-pace, quick-footed style. Oh, and don’t get me started on the stupid f**king degradation of new Hfo member Jora Johl… its toally f**king embarassing and Imho shouldn’t be on TV in 2021.
My Score: 1 out of 5 Match #2: Brian Cage def. Foxx Vinyer
My Thoughts: Foxx Vinyer looks like Zicky Dice if he had Brian Cage’s physique. And that’s...

Since Fahey missed out on the previous world tour, this means that this will be the first time that the full membership of Bananarama will be touring the United States. Something that should come as welcome news to those who remember the 80s with fondness. Who Are Bananarama? Where would The X Factor be without its strange and hilarious auditions? From furious contestants to a sick bag being called for, it's more than just a music competition.
The judges deserve credit too. These bizarre audition gems couldn't happen without them. Check out our favourites, brought to you in association with TalkTalk's new Bopheads app:
1. Ant and Seb (2008)
The Welsh brothers were a mismatched pair if ever there was one. Ant didn't have a bad pair of lungs on him, but - to put it mildly - Seb wasn't quite so gifted.
From this we can gather that Ant is either a) the best brother a guy could wish for or b) completely deaf in his left ear.
2. Holly 'Big Mouth' Jervis (2008)
Over-confidence is rarely a good sign on The X Factor. The holiday camp performer might have sung to people all across the country, but her 'big and...

The penultimate episode of The Big Reunion airs this evening on ITV2 (March 21), and we're already unsure as to how we will cope when 5ive, B*Witched, 911 and co are no longer entertaining us with their dark tales of '90s pop excess.
Abz from 5ive has become a hilarious must-watch figure of fun and the heartbreaking split between B*Witched's Lindsay and 911's Lee has been a weirdly emotional watch. The whole thing has had us digging out our old Live & Kicking magazines and wondering whatever happened to Let Loose.
The show's proved a hit for ITV2, so they're going to need to bring it back in some form in 2014. Digital Spy has five suggestions for Big Reunion spinoffs.
