Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched the Season 8, episode 3, of “The Masked Singer,” “TV Theme Night,” which aired Oct. 5 on Fox.
“Brady Bunch” brothers Barry Williams, Christopher Knight and Mike Lookinland, as well as entrepreneur and “Shark Tank” star Daymond John were the next celebrities to be revealed on “The Masked Singer,” as the show’s Wednesday night episode celebrated “TV Theme Night.”
The Mummies were revealed to be Williams, Knight and Lookinland, while Fortune Teller was John. Among this week’s three performances, the “Brady Bunch” brothers were first to go, with the fewest number of votes.
Later, John was unmasked as Fortune Teller after facing off with returning winner Harp in a battle royale (in which both took turns singing the “Full House” theme song). Harp won for a third week in a row.

Jay-Z and Damon Dash have settled the latest bout in their longstanding feud, this one over Dash’s alleged attempt to mint and sell part of the copyright to Jay’s Reasonable Doubt as a non-fungible token.
In court papers filed Monday, June 13, lawyers for the two parties announced an agreement that stipulated Dash could sell his one-third stake in Roc-a-Fella Records, but he could not “in any way dispose of any property interest in Reasonable Doubt.” The agreement also officially dismisses the claims Raf brought against Dash without prejudice.

Jennifer Lopez and Shakira’s Super Bowl takeover returned us to their end-of-the-century breakouts; Bernie Sanders couldn’t have picked a more circa-2001 rock band for a rally than the Strokes; Jessica Simpson, once a national punchline after her Chicken of the Sea confusion, has a memoir at the top of the New York Times bestseller list; and suddenly everyone is re-examining Mandy Moore’s pre–This Is Us pop career.

Without overstating the case, it’s hard to imagine that R. Kelly would not be in jail today if not for “Surviving R. Kelly.” While many of the details and accusers featured in the Lifetime docuseries were new, the primary facts have been known for many years — and yet the series, more than any of the news reports over the decade since he was acquitted on child-pornography charges in 2008, put all of the facts into a single powerful context. And the fact that there was a gun threat at the docuseries’ first screening in New York only amplified the air of criminality around it.
Almost exactly one year later, “Surviving R. Kelly Part II: The Reckoning” takes a look at the events of the past year that led to multiple new charges and accusations against the singer, the demise of his empire and his current indefinite incarceration as he awaits trial in three states.

“I’m happy to give him his money back even though the movie didn’t make money,” Daniels told TMZ on Friday of the $2 million “investment” he says Dash made in his movies when “nobody, not Disney, not Sony, not Tri-Star, not Paramount, not Warner Bros” would put cash out after the Oscar winning success of 2001’s Monster’s Ball.
While Dash has cited the $2 million as loan not an investment, the plaintiff seemed satisfied with the promise, as he made clear in an online response.
“He deserves his money and so I’m going to work out something for him,” Daniels added today of the on-going beef with Dash,...

While Lee Daniels always had the directing bug, there was a time when he took fate and the fate of those of his fellow unemployed African American actors into his own hands: He became a talent manager.
“It was pre-Spike Lee and post blaxploitation, and they (Hollywood) didn’t know what to do with us. I was directing theater and I started directing actors, trying to get them jobs and that led me to do what I’m doing right now. But they weren’t giving jobs to black actors and it was a cold and ugly reality,” said the two-time Oscar nominated filmmaker whose early clients included Paula Kelly and Loretta Divine.
“I gangster-ed my way in,” quipped Daniels to the crowd about his finesse for getting through studio gates at Sony, Paramount and Disney and into their casting offices to land jobs. Daniels appearance at the CAA...

In the first trailer for the Kanye West-produced film “Honor Up,” the code of honor to protect a family in the streets of Harlem becomes increasingly harder to uphold for Damon Dash’s character Og. “Growing up in the streets of Harlem, you have to be able to shoot hoops or sell drugs,’ a voiceover says in the trailer, premiering exclusively on TheWrap. In this world, it’s more important to uphold the code of honor than to tell on someone to avoid going to jail. And that’s where Og finds himself after a shootout in the neighborhood.
