Back in 1974, Shaw Brothers director Chang Cheh together with a crew of around fifty people including his favorites David Chiang, Ti Lung and Fu Sheng, left Hong Kong and started producing films in Taiwan. His newfound team under the name of Long Bow Company would continue to produce films till 1976. Although Chang was making films independently, he was still related to Shaw Brothers which gave his full support.

As it turns out, one of those Long Bow's early films “Five Shaolin Masters” was the one which eventually became their highest box office hit in Hong Kong, followed by “Heroes Two”, “Disciples of Shaolin”, “Shaolin Martial Arts”, “Marco Polo” and “Boxer Rebellion”. Among all of their Taiwanese productions, these six films made over one million dollars in Hong Kong but “The Fantastic Magic Boy” (1975) was their worst performer.

The script starts with black magician Shan Chien Mi performing a ritual for a woman who wants her adulterer husband and his mistress dead. The spell succeeds but after a while, the magician has to abandon the village he lived in, when a good magician destroys his house.
The story then changes setting and we are introduced to sultry Mrs Zhou, the widow of a construction magnate, who is set on seducing one of her employees, Xu Nuo. He, however, is engaged, and being faithful and honest, resists her aggressive flirting. Mrs Zhou also has a suitor, Liang Chia Chieh, a fortune hunter playboy, who just wants her for her money. When the two of them have a fight, Liang learns from a friend that a black magician living in the forest can help him.
Liang eventually finds him, but soon discovers that he has received much more than he has bargained for,...

When it comes to making features like this one, i love the idea of coming up with my own personal “100 Great Kung Fu Movies” of all time. It is tough choosing just 100 because you know there are many more great Kung Fu movies that are not on the list.
I understand everyone will have their own personal favorites and some may not agree with my list and that’s fine because it’s nice to have different opinions on this genre which keeps it fresh and alive when having good debates.
Anyway, thank you for taking time to have a look at my 100 Great Kung Fu movie list and feel free to add any movies in the comment box if they don’t make my list (I have probably forgotten many movies).

When it comes to the best kung fu movies ever made, The Prodigal Son has certainly got to be up there with the very best. This movie has everything, great fight scenes, great characters, great comedy and top notch choreography. This movie is regarded as one of Sammo’s best and i would have to agree. He as made many kung fu classics, but this as always remained one of my favorites in the genre.
Plot
Leung Jan (Yuen Biao) is a young man in a wealthy family living in Foshan in the mid-19th century. He is a martial artist trained by two instructors in his father’s employ.

Over the years having watched many kung fu movies, one person as stood out above the rest as my favorite villain, his name is Fung Hak On.
His presence on screen was fantastic, not only a great fighter and villain, but he is also a very good actor and could show lots of emotion with even one single look (Most look’s ended with someone getting killed though).
Birth-date : 18/9/1949
At the start of his career, Fung started off more as a stuntman and also having brief appearances in movies such as Vengeance, Heroic Ones, Water Margin plus many others. A few years later, the director he was working with at the time Chang Cheh, also had an assistant working with him, going by the name of John Woo. John Woo was just learning the process back then, but Fung was glad to work with Woo on his first ever directorial movie The Young dragons.

Cecilia Cheung’s comeback continues with “Legendary Amazons”, a Chinese period epic which also marks the return of Frankie Chan (“A Warrior’s Tragedy”), being his first outing as director in over ten years. Drawing upon the same source material as Cheng Gang’s 1972 Shaw Brothers hit “The 14 Amazons”, the film is another charting the deeds of the heroic and patriotic Yang clan as they fight to defend the land against barbarian invaders, led by their courageous warrior women. With Jackie Chan onboard as producer, the film sees Cheung joined by a host of other top female performers, including Shaw action legend Cheng Pei Pei (star of many classics including “The Lady Hermit” and “Lady of Steel”), Mainland actress Liu Xiaoqing (“The Shadow of Empress Wu”) and Kathy Chow (“Sleepless Town”), with popular Taiwanese actor/singer Richie Jen (“Punished”) and Xiao Mingyu heading up the male contingent and veteran favourite...

Despite issues with members of its cast and the threat of the production shutting down altogether, it would appear that “Legendary Amazons” (aka “The Lady Generals of Yang Family”) is getting closer to seeing the light of a darkened theater in China. Produced by Jackie Chan and directed by Frankie Chan, the film is based on a famous Chinese opera set in the Song Dynasty, and also serves as a kind of “comeback” for star Cecilia Cheung. Below you’ll find a plethora of extremely cool posters for the upcoming production. As of this writing, a release date has not been set. Source: Film Smash...
