At the moment, Mark Wahlberg is content with growing older and taking on the roles that go along with it. He is currently in a family-friendly phase of his career that will continue with Arthur the King, his upcoming flick.
However, fans of the hit comedy franchise Ted might have to remain patient for another installment. Indeed, Wahlberg has recently announced that he is focusing on more family-friendly projects at this point in his career. While this may be disappointing news for fans eagerly anticipating his return to the raunchy and hilarious world of Ted, Wahlberg’s commitment to “age-appropriate roles” is admirable.

In 2021, Peacock ordered ten episodes based on the popular foul-mouthed teddy bear. However, the origin story starts back in 1993, when his fame has died down and he first meets John Bennett. The young kid is in a working-class Boston home with his parents and cousin. The series will focus on the special bond between Ted and John. It’ll also showcase how he became such an instrumental part of John’s life. The series is scheduled to be released on the streaming service on January 11, 2024. Can a Ted prequel series work? Especially since the amazing chemistry between Mark...

The 2012 movie Ted follows the story of a man named John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg), whose childhood wish for his teddy bear, Ted, to come to life miraculously comes true. However, as adults, their friendship is put to the test as John navigates his relationship with his girlfriend, Lori (Mila Kunis). What set Ted apart was its unique concept, created by Seth MacFarlane, the creator of the hit animated series Family Guy. Leveraging his massive fame from Family Guy, MacFarlane brought his signature humour and irreverent style to the big screen, delivering a hilarious and raunchy comedy that struck a...

Animation mastermind Seth MacFarlane made a name for himself with the creation of "Family Guy." After working on Hanna-Barbera cartoons like "Dexter's Laboratory" and "Johnny Bravo," MacFarlane would bring his irreverent riff on the animated family sitcom to Fox in 1999. Though the series was initially canceled after three seasons, the show's release on DVD resulted in renewed interest from both audiences and the network, and the show has been running for 22 seasons and counting. Since then, MacFarlane has created several more animated hits, including "American Dad" and the "Family Guy" spin-off "The Cleveland Show," but he's also shifted into both live-action TV and movies, which includes the raunchy buddy comedy franchise "Ted."

The star of the new Peacock Ted series shared his thoughts on whether or not a Season 2 of the streaming comedy will happen.
The series does not star Mark Wahlberg, who first introduced Seth MacFarlane's crude living teddy bear to the world in 2012 with the original film. Instead, Max Burkholder portrays John Bennett as a higher schooler and before he becomes the pothead everyone knows.
The project received a lukewarm reception and is currently sitting at a 68% critic approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Seth Macfarlane’s animated series Family Guy, The Cleveland Show, and American Dad have become as culturally significant as The Simpsons. With edgy humor and non sequitur galore, MacFarlane segued to the big screen with the fantasy comedy Ted starring Mark Wahlberg about a man-child and his teddy bear who has come alive. Full of gross-out humor and equal amounts of heartfelt comedy, Ted was a smash hit and spawned a sequel. Since then, MacFarlane has made A Million Ways To Die In The West and the more serious science fiction series The Orville. Now, MacFarlane is returning to Ted with a Peacock prequel series that blends the sitcom format of his animated shows with that same blend of crass and feel-good comedy that has become his trademark.

The new Peacock TV show Ted delivers a cast filled to the brim with plenty of talented actors.
The comedy series follows a younger John Bennett as he goes through high school with Ted, his teddy bear he brought to life with a magic wish when he was eight years old. Now, the newly sentient toy must survive the trials and tribulations of the schooling system and a bit of the real world.
Star Max Burkholder recently spoke exclusively with The Direct, where he revealed that "everybody [on the production] was so down to have fun and play" and how the cast and crew were "very kind and open and accepting."

Seth MacFarlane’s Ted has made the leap to the small screen, and we’ve learned that the series will be broadcast on Sky Max in February.
Ted was Seth MacFarlane’s feature directorial debut, and it would be fair to say the film made quite an impact.
Released in 2012, it contained all the profane, puckish humour MacFarlane honed in his years showrunning Family Guy. The plot followed Mark Wahlberg as John, an ageing adolescent who spends his time drinking, getting high and pulling pranks with his best friend, the sentient stuffed toy Ted, while neglecting his relationship with Lori, played by Mila Kunis.
The sequel arrived in 2015 sans Kunis, and didn’t quite hit the same mark. But still: it made a good chunk of money, and that opened the door for a third Ted film. Nine years on, though, and there’s no sign of Ted 3. Instead, MacFarlane...

It's been over 10 years since "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane made the jump to the big screen with his feature directorial and writing debut "Ted." In the 2012 comedy, Mark Wahlberg played John Bennett, a grown man stuck in a state of arrested development with his girlfriend Lori (Mila Kunis), because he can't stop smoking weed and screwing around with his best friend, a foul-mouthed teddy bear named Ted (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) that he magically wished to life when he was just a boy.
Of course, by the end of the movie, John realizes that he needs to grow up and become a bit more responsible and salvages his relationship with Lori. However, in 2015, "Ted 2" undid their happy ending, revealing that John and Lori got divorced six months prior to the start of the sequel, and the follow-up focused on Ted's battle in court for the right to have...

Your favorite foul-mouthed bear is back — this time in a TV series. A Peacock prequel series to the hit movie franchise of a similar, yet differently capitalized, name premieres on Thursday, Jan. 11. This new show from the mind of Seth MacFarlane, simply called “ted,” takes place in 1993, where Ted the Bear — his 15 minutes of fame now behind him — is living at home with his best-friend, 16-year-old John Bennett. You can guess what kind of hijinks they’ll get up to, but at the end of the day, Ted is still the loyal (and hilariously vulgar) friend that we’ve always known him to be. You can watch ted with a subscription to Peacock.

The bad news about Peacock’s Ted prequel, also called Ted, is that all of its worst instincts are apparent from the jump. For one thing, its premiere clocks in at 50 minutes — not inherently an unreasonable run time, but a baffling one for a TV outing that otherwise unfolds like a half-hour sitcom. For another, that near-hour is front-loaded with the show’s most self-consciously “offensive” material: hoary jokes about derogatory terms and racist stereotypes, all delivered with a smirk that’s daring you, just daring you, to get outraged by any of it.
But if you can push past the initial tedium, the good (or at least less bad) news about Ted is that the episodes that follow represent a marked improvement. Sometimes, as when it leans on absurdity over abrasiveness or goofiness over saltiness, it’s possible to make out a decent comedy buried in there somewhere. If...

Max Burkholder, star of the new Ted streaming series on Peacock, admitted he was not able to talk with Mark Wahlberg ahead of filming the series.
In 2021, Peacock announced a straight-to-series order for Ted. While based on the original Mark Wahlberg 2012 movie (and its 2015 sequel), none of the original cast would be returning—aside from Seth MacFarlane as the voice of the crude living titular Teddy Bear.
Instead of Wahlberg, Burkholder was brought aboard to embody a younger, high school-aged 1993 version of John Bennett. He is joined by a cast including Scott Grimes, Giorgia Whigham, Alanna Ubach, and more.

"Ted" is a new 7-episode live-action 'event' comedy TV series created by Seth MacFarlane ("Family Guy"), as a prequel to Macfarlane's "Ted" feature (2012) and "Ted 2" (2015), now starring Max Burkholder, Alanna Ubach, Scott Grimes and Giorgia Whigham, streaming January 11, 2024 on Peacock:
"...it’s 1993, and 'Ted' the bear’s moment of fame has passed. He’s now living back home in Framingham, Massachusetts with his best friend, ''John Bennett' (Max Burkholder), along with John’s parents, 'Matty', 'Susan' and cousin 'Blaire'. Ted may be a lousy influence on John, but at the end of the day, he’s a loyal pal who’s always willing to go out on a limb for friendship..."
According to MacFarlane, ".... in the fifties, it was the bold brushwork of the abstract expressionists. Our generation’s unique art is streaming content based on previously successful intellectual property. In that proud tradition,...

Ted, the raunchy R-rated talking bear, is front and center in Peacock’s new event series that delves into the stuffed bear’s past, prior to the Ted films. Seth MacFarlane returns to the world he created as writer, executive producer, director, co-showrunner, and the voice of the talking bear, with Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh serving as writers, executive producers, and co-showrunners.
The official trailer confirms Ted’s behavior and language haven’t been cleaned up for the streaming service’s series. No, this is the same trash-talking stuffed bear audiences loved in the 2012 and 2015 movies.

Ted TV series trailer: Seth MacFarlane returns to the 90s for a crude coming-of-age comedy flashback
Peacock‘s original event series, Ted, brings you back to the 1990s when Alice in Chains, Cypress Hill, and Snoop Dogg helped shape a generation of digital natives. Ted hails from Family Guy and The Orville creator Seth MacFarlane, with Max Burkholder playing John Bennett, the role played by Mark Wahlberg in MacFarlane’s 2012 comedy. The Ted TV series trailer finds John and Ted (voiced by MacFarlane) attending a hellscape of judgment, adolescent depression, and taboo exploration, otherwise known as high school.
Here’s the official synopsis for Ted courtesy of Peacock:

After the big screen delivered the marijuana and beer-fueled antics of John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg) and his living teddy bear in Seth MacFarlane's "Ted" franchise, the raunchy debauchery of the longtime friends is coming to Peacock in the form of a prequel TV series. Thankfully, since this is streaming, "Ted" can be just as raunchy as the movies. However, because this is a prequel series, there's no Mark Wahlberg screwing around with Ted. Instead, we have a 16-year-old John Bennett (Max Burkholder) enduring the trials and tribulations of high school with Ted by his side, and having a living teddy bear as your best friend in school goes about as well as you'd expect for a teenager in the 1990s.

It’s been over ten years since “Ted” hit theaters in 2012. Ushering in a big R-rated comedy hit for creator Seth MacFarlane and star Mark Wahlberg, it’s still the 12th highest-grossing R-rated film of all time. Directed, written, and voiced by MacFarlane, the “Ted” premise was simple. John Bennett is a man whose childhood wish of bringing his teddy bear to life came true. “Ted 2” arrived in 2015.

The official trailer for Peacock’s upcoming Ted series has dropped, and it gives viewers a clearer look at how Ted the Bear and his best friend John Bennett try to survive the awkwardness of high school in the 1990s.
Created by Seth MacFarlane, the R-rated series — at least from the trailer — seems to hit all the right nostalgia notes with music from The Proclaimers, lots of big hair, piano key neckties and a brief glimpse of a classic Volkswagen Golf convertible.
The series takes place in 1993, right after Ted’s moment of fame has passed. He’s now living back home in Framingham, Massachusetts, with his best friend John. In the clip, we see Ted (voiced by MacFarlane) and John (Max Burkholder) negotiating school without much success but also trying to get laid and high, all the things audiences have come to expect from the comedy franchise.

The Thunder Buddies are back once again. Almost nine and a half years after Ted 2, another version of Seth MacFarlane’s foul-mouthed talkative teddy bear is in the form of Peacock‘s seven-episode Ted prequel show.
The character debuted in the 2012 film Ted, starring Mark Wahlberg, as a Boston native whose childish wish is to bring his teddy bear to life. Still, their fun-loving friendship interferes with his work and relationship in adulthood.
Ted 2, the 2015 sequel, sees the foul-mouthed bear struggling to be recognized as a person rather than property.
Both R-rated comedies were filmed office hits and a Ted prequel series for Peacock was scheduled in 2021. The new comedy series now follows the main character and his human closest buddy during their early years together.

Following the huge success of the global hit film franchise, ‘Ted,’ Sky has revealed that the bear is taking over the small screen in a 7-episode prequel series, available exclusively in the UK and Ireland on Sky Max, early next year.

Seth MacFarlane’s Ted makes the leap to the small screen in January, here’s the teaser trailer for the TV show.
Ted was Seth MacFarlane's feature directorial debut, and heck, did it make an impact.
Released in 2012, it contained all the profane, puckish humour Macfarlane honed in his years showrunning Family Guy. The plot followed Mark Wahlberg as John, an ageing adolescent who spends his time drinking and getting high with the titular Ted, a sentient stuffed toy, while neglecting his relationship with Mila Kunis’ Lori.
The sequel arrived in 2015, and didn’t quite hit the same mark. But still: it make a good chunk of money, and that opened the door for a third Ted movie. Eight years on, though, and there’s no sign of Ted 3. Instead? Well, the idea has taken the television route for now.

Ted is making his comeback in a brand new series on Peacock!
The upcoming show takes place in the nineties, years before the two films, and will feature Seth MacFarlane returning as the voice of the bear.
“Our series is a prequel to the Ted movies. It takes place in the nineties but is based on the timeless truth that being sixteen sucks. The only thing that makes it tolerable is going through it with a friend, even if that friend is a has-been magical teddy bear with a foul mouth and a proclivity for drug use,” Seth, and co-showrunners Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh, shared in a statement.
