If you have been glued to season two of showrunner Kurt Sutter's diamond sharp "Sons of Anarchy," you have just witnessed the end of the beginning. There is much more story to tell about Samcro. Sutter flexed every prose-slinging muscle he had to ensure you return for more next year, and bring your sad bastard friends who aren't hip to this party in Charming, California. Season three has not been officially announced by FX, but Sutter is a prolific writer, and he blogs regularly, allaying fears that there will most certainly be a season three. Should be, FX president John Landgraf's wife Ally Walker turned in an award level performance as the duplicitous, cold as ice Agent Stahl, »

Sons! The Sons of Anarchy Season 2 finale has come and gone. This season brought about several changes to Charming and its infamous motor club. But, before we get into the details of the finale, let me say this: Sons of Anarchy Season 2 is by far one of the best seasons of any TV series in the past decade. Yes, I said it. Now, on to the show. Appropriately, the finale opened up with a close up on three actual rats. From the beginning the theme of rats has been prevalent on Soa. Atf Agent Stahl (Ally Walker) setup Opie (Ryan Hurst) in season one to be a rat, resulting in the death of Donna – a strong catalyst for season 2’s intense inner-club drama. The finale aptly opened with rats, the reoccurring theme this season. Whereas last episode featured dead rats, now the biggest rats are the live ones. Chibs »

Instead of flat-out just saying they're canceling the series "Eastwick", ABC is beating about the bush with reports that they've "decided not to order additional episodes" beyond its initial 13. Seven of them have aired with the remaining six scheduled to be shown after a two-week break for some special programming on the network.
As the La Times put it: "Eastwick" has often [been] averaging less than 5 million viewers. The show, which stars Rebecca Romijn and Lindsey Price, is based on the John Updike book. While it spawned a moderately successful movie, this is the third time an attempt to make a TV series based on the book has fallen short.
Does anyone remember the other two? If not, it's no surprise since neither made it past the pilot stage. We did a little digging for old time's sake. The first was in 1992 and kept the full "The Witches of Eastwick" title. »

Hard Target For 20 years Hong Kong director John Woo was the driving force in film on the Pacific Rim. Following the success of The Killer, Woo's 1989 masterpiece of operatic violence, he made out to Hollywood with his chop-socky. Hard Target. Woo's American debut took the Belgium-born Jean-Claude Van Damme to new lows of clunky one-liners and preposterous action scenes forcing you to suspend you disbelief to a max. However Hard Target proved that John Woo was the hottest name in action at the time Double Impact Shot on location in Hong Kong, the film contains not one but two Van Dammes. Jcvd plays twin brothers. The gimmick is to pit Van Damme up against Van Damme which successfully works when one brother in a drunken and jealous rage believes that the other is sleeping with his girlfriend. The film also includes Bolo Yeung as the villain and a muscle-bound lesbian »

There's (potentially) good news on the television front this week, as both NBC and ABC have announced that they've picked up two pilots with a significant amount of female characters.
NBC has acquired the pilot Mercy, described as "a drama with comedic elements that revolves around three nurses bound together in friendship by the highs and lows of their personal and professional lives."
I'm not a big fan of medical shows, but if being "bound together in friendship" is anything like hugging a woman with your legs in friendship, then I will definitely tune in.
The script was written by Liz Heldens (Friday Night Lights), who will also be the executive producer on the show. No news on casting or the premiere date yet.
Also, ABC has acquired Eastwick, "loosely" based on the 1987 film The Witches of Eastwick (based on the book by John Updike), which starred Jack Nicholson, Susan Sarandon, »
