No, no, no
13 June 2020
Couldn't get past the 15 minute mark. As soon as they flashed back to the war and the soldiers are still being played by the four main actors, I was done. Why are directors insisting on doing this (looking at you The Irishman, where 70-80 year olds play 40 year olds). It is such a turn off. 60-70 year old men cannot play 20 year olds. It's just stupid and comes of tacky. I expected better from Spike Lee.

Get Out rip off
29 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This was entertaining but a bad attempt to beat Get Out. Also, I have to point out the fact that as a white woman (and this is written by a white woman), she doesn't get shot by the cops at the end. That wouldn't have been the case if the Get Out protagonist had starred in this film, at least if they had depicted it realistically.

Renew!
29 May 2020
I agree with others; renew this show! It's an adorable and funny "remake" of Green Acres. It's a quirky comedy that is different from so much of the crap on tv. It's finally a light hearted show with no hidden agenda.

Bad bad bad
21 May 2020
I am so thoroughly confused at the high rating for this movie. The accents are terrible. Joseph Fiennes attempts a bad Russian accent. Jude Law does Jude Law. Ed Harris attempts a god awful English accent. Ron Perlman does the most posh English accent while still using lines like "methinks." Seriously? Who talks like that? The dialogue is just awful. It looks like the minimized Ed Harris' lines because his accent is just so god awful. It's really hard to get past. The movie also drags. And it's such a typical Hollywood war depiction. I had hoped for so much and was so thoroughly let down.

Not as good as the original
23 February 2020
This isn't a bad show per se, but let's highlight the utter "first world problems" that overload this show every single episode. It's disturbing to think that our next generation in America is so overcome by such stupid first world problems. Although some characters are likeable, it's hard to really appreciate the show when the lead character is constantly complaining about such trivialities. Got it, college age. But come on, can't this show take on some more of the meaningful conversations that the original takes on. Not that Black-ish doesn't occasionally get too focused on meaningless crap, it does have some great conversations on race and gender. This show does not. And as each episode unfolds, I like it less and less. I think they could focus more on better issues college age young adults face rather than social media and making drugs seem okay.

Couldn't finish it

Thankfully we didn't waste money and see this in the theaters, but still wasted money to rent it on Prime. We stopped after half an hour. The acting is totally over the top. The characters are no longer relatable. They're all just a bunch of annoying a$$h--s. The first movie was so fantastic. This isn't a subpar sequel. This is absolutely terrible. Cringeworthy terrible.

Watch this movie again!!!
9 September 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Although upon first watching this movie, you may leave saying "lame" or "typical," watch it again! Many feel it's a lame remake of Something About Mary (not the same plot, but love story). However, watching it more than once makes the multiple plots more obvious. Not only is there the main plot between Reuben and Polly, but there are additional plots between Reuben and Leland and the progression of Sandy, his role in _Jesus Christ Superstar_. Additionally, I have never seen a movie give so much attention to the littlest of details of ALL the characters. Reuben's dress go from conservative and serious (starting in a tux) to slowly gaining more color and eventually leading to his nudity in the end. This represents Reuben's progression throughout the movie, leading from a stiff, uptight, and nervous person to the more liberated and comfortable man he truly is. Details are given to the home of all the characters in such extreme detail that the director obviously knew these characters well. Also, you can tell the close relationship between Sandy and Reuben with their conversations and the naturalness of their dialogue. Many scripts write in extra wording and politeness that is often unnatural between best friends. Watch this movie several times. Look for the little details and the multiple plots. This movie continues to entertain me because it's not one plot about A falling for B and the minor interferences that come between their eventual fate of getting together. The extra plot lines running through this movie give tons of entertainment. Alec Baldwin is hilarious. Philip Seymour Hoffman plays the perfect pig. Though this role may be typical for Stiller, he's perfect for it. And I can't think of another person who would play the flighty, neurotic role of Polly as Jennifer Aniston does. A lot of thought was obviously given to actors/actresses and making the perfect match with the characters. Don't judge this movie by one viewing and go in open-minded. This is not Something About Mary. The comedy is very different and comes down to the relationships and interactions of the many characters. This movie is not a gut-busting laugh movie, but there are plenty of laugh-out-loud parts and the multiple-viewing elements to this movie are numerous. This movie has definitely entered into one of my favorite movies of Stiller's along with Zoolander, Something About Mary, and Meet the Parents.
