Stranger Things: Chapter Eight: The Battle of Starcourt (2019)
Perfect Episode!
Emotion, righteous sacrifices, humanity, humanity, humanity. This episode relies heavily on the human spirit, our ability to reach and care for each other. It executes this perfectly. It makes me love my favorite characters Hopper and Eleven even more. I also love the way they built Billy and Max relationship, personally I wanted more, but that would have taken away from the episode. All on all it is rewatchable and as someone who barely cries in movie or TV show setting I lost a tear, fine several to this episode. Beautifully done.

Stranger Things: Chapter Seven: The Lost Sister (2017)
Fun mythology fueled journey.
I loved this episode of only for the stark contrast between the small town kids of Hawkins and punk people in the city. It showed Elevens growth as a character, both h mentally and psychically. Her sister was a wonderful addition as a character study. The people they surrounded themselves with made them very different people. Heck Eleven's papa as much as I dislike him shaped and sheltered Eleven on his psychotic way, it was clear Kali never had those type of relationships. I love that Eleven was pushing her limits and ultimately she is not alone. There are others like her. Also it was very much like that baby sister adventure movie that I love. So great points there. All in all this episode like the last 2 are my favorites for this season. The transition was very 80s from overhype to what does this have to do with anything to oooohhhh I get it.
The Umbrella Academy (2019)
Good start
The story is fantastic. The chracters are layered and there family ties is what sells this show. It is ultimately a story of family that is profound and moving. I love it.
The Gifted (2017)
Everything you wanted from the X men and more!
The gifted is one of the most interesting shows on TV today. If only for the concepts on the show that overlap with our current political environment. I won't lie the first episode did not captivate me, but it kept me interested long enough to get hooked by the second. The plot lines and the story keeps growing and getting better. To me that is due to the show's premise a world with out the X men, more specifically Xavier. Professor X had land, money and political connections cause he was a rich white guy from an influential family. He used all of his assets to promote the welfare of mutant kind and support the Xmen, which he does long after his death as they still use his land. Now imagine a world without that influence no one rich or powerful helping you to promote the well being of your people. Got it good. That's the Gifted. A group of people who decide to fight for equality in a world that does not want them, basically on their own. Their decisions good or bad in the face of their world is what keeps me coming back. Now to take a step back. The gifted is a little slow at times, there is not alot of action or enough for my taste for a show on mutants and it focuses a lot of time on the drama between characters til its almost soapy. But alot of that drama is tied to the premise of discrimination, alienation, xenophobia, abuse, trust and basic decency. The show continuing to get more action packed and the pace has considerably picked up with each episode especially in the second season. And probably the most important questions of all How do you fight for equality and compassion in a world devoid of it? and If there is no hope of wining is there a point in fighting? these and many other underlining questions give this show a great edge one they take advantage off. So try it, analyze it, love it the show is incredible. And it will get you to think and honestly I think thats something that a good sci fi show should do.
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)
Rehash that again.
Let me say the force awakens is a fun movie filled with action, drama and interesting twist. The problem it adds nothing new. It's basically a contemporary remake of A New Hope. It follows that movie basically plot by plot. And unlike good remakes it doesn't add any new weapons, concepts or ot points. There is an interesting new philosophy they began to add. But it does not forgive the overall redundancy the plot took.
I would forgive this if I never read the books which added a wealth of content that enriched and expanded the star wars mythology. This movie does none of that. In that sense it reminds me more of the prequel trilogy than anything else. Dont misunderstand me the movie is better than all the prequel movies, but vastly inferior to the original.
I hoped this movie would bridge that gap. It hasn't. However it is a good movie. A fun one. And the characters are lovable. You feel for everyone. It just feels a bit derivative. Cause here's my thing in a series one should be able to watch all back to back and the series should be fresh. I dont believe that The force awakens did that for the series. It's a good movie though enjoy.
