Frasier (2023)
At last!
It's like coming home after a very long trip. I didn't start to feel it till halfway through the first episode, but by the end I was right back in that happy place I so miss, watching Frasier. Production quality is good, the camera work seems very similar to the original and so far the writing is spot on. I was very impressed with the first two episodes but only time will tell if the show can stand on its own to feet after the re-introduction. I skimmed an article yesterday and it mentioned how Kelsey Grammer picks back up with Frasier's character without missing a beat, and it's true. I feel like I've just spent an hour with a one of my best friends. Thank you guys for giving us more Frasier.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Surprising!
For context, I'm a big Tolkien fan. There are many reasons why I had preconceived notions this show was going to be a very big let down, but after watching the first two episodes, I'm surprised (and relieved) to say if the trend of the first two episodes continues, I'm really going to enjoy this series. The first two episodes were solid! There are two different types of LOTR fans, those that are fans Peter Jackson's franchise and those who aren't. I happen to be one that is so I was very surprised Amazon didn't try to reinvent the original look of LotR, but instead, built upon the look Peter Jackson brought to life. Everything from writing to acting, cinematography, score and special effects is 100% as it should be, the show is truly stunning. I'd even venture to say this show makes GoT look like poop lol. I hope you enjoy the show as much as I am so far!
Prey (2022)
Just finished watching!
I went into this movie very cautiously. I had heard it was going to be full of woke garbage, but thankfully it wasn't. It's no more woke than Sigourney Weaver in Alien or Linda Hamilton in Terminator. The first act is kinda slow but then it picks up and starts running! The action scenes are stinking awesome and the special effects are great. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
The Gray Man (2022)
Classic action movie feel! Good popcorn fun!
They don't make action hero movies like this anymore. I just finished watching and oh man! This movie houses James Bond level actin sequences, an epic pounding score and very well done special effects. Not to mention those wild camera movements! Very iconic and unique. This movie isn't a super "deep" movie but has just enough heart to make you care about what's happening on screen while enjoying some good old fashion action movie fun! Hope you enjoy this breath of fresh air as much as I did.
The Tender Bar (2021)
Just finished.
I just finished this movie and I'm in tears. It's deeply moving and touched lots of heart strings. I hope everyone watches. I literally started watching without any trailers or context and I'm blown away.
Chapelwaite (2021)
Game changer.
I'm a huge SK fan and this show is a game changer. The production quality is 10/10. Cinematography solid, music solid, acting 100%. I'm so impressed. This is an accurate depiction of the feeling you get while reading a king book. That's hard to put on screen! Please, give it a shot! I want more shows like this!
Volcanic UFO Mysteries (2021)
Hands down most convincing UAP videos I've seen to date.
I wasn't expecting much from this little doc, but this had better video of UAP's flying around and going into a volcano (of all things) than any military or civilian video I've seen. The documentary starts out kinda cheesy with cartoon illustrations setting things up for the viewer but then they start dropping epic legit UAP vids that I've never seen before. I'm shocked this hasn't come up more in main stream media. Very cool stuff. Highly recommend watching!
Malignant (2021)
The most convincing review!
I had so much fun watching this movie. We have a new iconic villain on our hands people! The final act was so over the top that I just became giddy with excitement. This movie is a love letter to 80s horror and those who enjoy the classics so expect pure entertainment. Also Wan always does an amazing job with those smooth floating camera angles. Sit back relax and enjoy!
The Mandalorian: Chapter 9: The Marshal (2020)
Heck yes.
All we need now is some Clint Eastwood lol. I loved it. Is no one talking about Marshall's speeder being a cell from Anakin Skywalkers pod racer from episode one?!?
October Faction (2020)
...
I just finished episode one. The concept is great. Acting is good. However, during the first 45 I was subject to so much SJW stuff it was distasteful. Kids/teens simply don't act this way towards each other. I get that shows need diversity but it also needs to feel natural. Almost every show on Netflix now days tosses gay characters at your face instead of building on them. It's like the writers are more interested in being political than interesting. Please fix this! Shows like this could be freaking awesome.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997)
Just finished streaming!
I'm going to keep it short and sweet. Before recently I had never watched Buffy and now after finishing I feel like I've missed out for years. I'm a huge GOT, True Detective, Mindhunter, XFiles, Penny Dreadful, Peaky Blinders, Downton Abbey, Dexter fan (to name a few) just so you can recognize that I do know what good acting and writing looks and feels like. Buffy was ahead of its time. At first I didn't know what I was getting into and just wanted something to binge. During season one I remember thinking "yep, this is pretty cheesy" but the longer I gave it, the more I understood what I was watching and the deeper themes of the show. The writing and acting is great! The show is over 20 years old BUT, as I watched I found that it was still very relatable and current (surprisingly). If you've never seen Buffy before I highly recommend it. Keep in mind, after the first season things really start to take off so give it some time to find it's footing and you'll be glad you did.
Doctor Sleep (2019)
Speechless. This is the kind of adaptation you've been waiting for.
Acting, script, cinematography, story and pacing we're all perfect. I can't say enough good about this movie and how happy I was after watching. This is a new classic and it was everything I wanted Doctor Sleep to be. It's the type of movie that made you feel like a kid when you were watching!
Daybreak (2019)
Sad. Was hooked the first 4 episodes then...
Was hooked the first 4 episodes! It was fun and fresh... then everything went all sjw. I'll be really glad when we can get quality movies and tv without politics and a narrative being shoved down our throats. This is really getting old. This show could have been so dang awesome.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018)
Fun and Dark
Game of Thrones, True Detective and Mindhunter are just a few of my tastes. Big fan of cinematography, good writing and great acting. This series fills the void left by other memorable shows. Surprisingly fun and very dark. A show I look forward to seeing more of!
