Reviews
Homefront (2013)
Enjoyable, solid action film
One of Statham's best.
It has a solid storyline (something that I think can be a weak point in some of Statham's action flicks), good action sequences and solid acting all-around (James Franco and Winona Ryder were particularly good, in my opinion).
The type of fun action movie that is great to sit around and watch with friends and family.
Babysitter's Nightmare (2018)
Is it possible to give 0 stars?
I don't know what to say. Each passing second of this movie made me want to tear my eyeballs out from my skull and toss them into a deep, roaring pit of hellfire so they're never subjected to seeing such a monstrosity again.
The acting was terrible. From every single person in this movie. Not one single but of good acting.
The main character's acting was so atrocious, that at times I was cringing even watching her.
The kid (Toby) was... how can I put this... absolutely, utterly, undoubtably terrible. His over enthusiastic, overly - confident, mind numbingly atrocious performance (even considering his age) made me throw up. I know he's just a kid, but someone, at some point had to have been like "man we need to, at the very least, sort out what that kid is doing in front of camera"
Then there's the script. Now, I will accept that the actors were pretty much screwed from the start, because the script writing was so, so appalling (don't know if we're allowed to swear in these, so I'm trying to avoid it). ALL of the dialogue between the babysitter and the kid felt forced, and completely unnatural. At times I thought I could see the actors physically in pain as they had to deliver their poorly written lines.
And at the end, there's a HUGE PLOT TWIST. Except there isn't. Because anyone with the slightest trace of a brain cell, can figure out the 'twist' without any difficulty. Oh, wow, "it killer wasn't really who we thought it was cliche"!!!! Except it was, because we'd all already figured it out, and the movie was terrible.
I pray to god, that nobody else ever watches this movie. Do something else instead, literally anything else. Go cycling, spend time with your family, or even jam your limbs into a blender (I promise it'll still be less painful than watching this).
Saw it on Netflix and they use the only decent 30 seconds of acting as the preview, to lure you in. They are lying to you, the movie is not actually decent, it is horrible.
Now, I have to go wash out my eyes with bleach and then attend my hypnosis sessions to try and forget I ever saw this *_*
The Strangers: Prey at Night (2018)
Fun to watch, but not great.
Definitely not as good as the first one, but I don't think it's too bad.
Saw the whole thing, and it's fun to watch (ie I wouldn't mind watching it with friends).
It's definitely not a masterpiece, by any means, but it builds up tension well, and at times you really feel the suspense (but again, it doesn't do this anywhere near as well, as the first one).
And yes, there are some serious plot holes, and the characters make some stupid decisions, but, as someone who is usually quite picky with spoilers, I didn't mind mind them too much, for whatever reason (maybe because they weren't TOO utterly ridiculous like they are in many other horror movies).
Also, I thought the acting was good. The dynamic of the parents looked very unnatural, but otherwise, the actors all did a good job with conveying emotion; especially in particular poignant, emotional scenes, which I was impressed with.
Overall, not a bad movie to watch with friends, and I found it fun to watch also. But absolutely not a movie to be taken too seriously.
Red Dead Redemption II (2018)
The best video game I have ever played.
The interactiveness of the world is unbelievable. The graphics are unparalleled. The originality of the story is next to none.
Whilst I am a huge fan of GTA V, the way in which the world isn't all that interactive has always bothered me. It's a beautiful world with good graphics, but you just sort of drive through it and look at it. That's not the case with RDR2. There are an uncountable number of plant, fish, horse and other animal species. And you can interact with all of them (especially through hunting). Speaking of hunting, that is something that this game does so well. 1000x better than the hunting you do with Trevor in GTA V. The animals are lifelike. The squeals and screams of some deer once you've injured them is unbelievably lifelike.
Then there are the cinematic cut-scenes after which appear after some missions. They're stunning. The graphics in this game are incredible. Undoubtably the best that I've ever seen.
But it's the way in which Rockstar have crafted the story, and characters which is the best thing, in my opinion. I have never played a game (or even watched a movie) which provoked so much emotion in me. I felt Arthur Morgan's emotions, as I was playing with him. The character of Arthur Morgan is so well created and the game does such a good job of making you invest in the characters, meaning the major moments of the story, are even more poignant.
I recommend this game to anyone who has maybe a free week or two to kill (maybe a holiday or something) and just wants to binge on an incredible game.
Rockstar have truly outdone themselves.
American Dad! (2005)
Hillarious
Great show. If you enjoy family guy, you'll love this
The Boy (2016)
This movie is so good.
People are too hard on this movie. It's actually such an entertaining film and great for anyone who enjoys horror, and it's slightly alternative horror style is so good to watch. If you have seen the movie 'Don't Breathe' (the one about be blind veteran being robbed) then you will love this movie too. Throughout the film, you will be on the edge of your seat and it's an intense thriller/horror. Then the plot twist at the end is absolutely impeccably portrayed. I live in England myself, and so with the setting being in the English countryside, there was a sense of familiarity for me which I really liked. Great movie.
