Son of Batman (2014)
9/10
Entertaining, enjoyable movie
24 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I really liked this movie. I am by no means, a batman novice. I am well versed in the comics, especially the comics regarding damian Wayne. They got his character perfectly. The bad reviews saying he's overpowered don't realize he's been training since birth and he has the genetics of batman and the daughter of ras al ghul. Also, no he never overpowers deathstroke. He wins by using the environment around him to his advantage.

The only downside is talia's characterization. She raped Bruce but that issue is glossed over and even romanticized. She forced Bruce to have a son and not inform him. She also is typically known as a very abusive mother and isn't as benevolent as they make her seem.

Other than that, it's still a great movie. The nightwing cameo was spot on and his entrance was AMAZING. I clapped and cheered when I saw him. DCAU does well every time

A wonderful, brilliant episode
24 May 2020
Everything about this episode was amazing. The voice acting, the story, and the animation! A great job of incorporating parts of deathstroke we know and love along with adding new twists and turns! I sympathize with him SO strongly. He is clearly someone we root for but we are also aware of his flaws and his dark side as well. Please release the next episode

a wonderful, subtle film
2 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This type of film is not my genre at all. i am usually a fan of gripping, action packed films that keep me on my toes. however, i found that i was not bored at all during any part of the movie. there are many quiet moments that don't necessarily drive the plot but they are beautiful and add something to the characters and contribute to the story as a whole. i like that the protagonist was unlikable in this film. this does something different. most films involving a love triangle make the protagonist a different type of unlikable. she is often whiny, weak, cowardly, and supposedly "relatable." she is supposed to be likable and relatable to the audience but is often not. daphne is not like this. while daphne goes through struggles and has moments where you can sympathize with her, she has something about her that makes you dislike her throughout the whole film. i think it is intentional and brilliant. the one true person that has zero faults in this film is jamie dornan's character, jack. he is the one you end up feeling bad for because he does everything right and ends up in a terrible position at the end of the film. yet he still handles everything with grace. you understand the conflict that daphne is faced with. both guys are wonderful. she doesn't want to give up either and ends up losing both, along with becoming a struggling single mother. daphne gets what she deserves. frank moves on. adrian moves on. jack is in rome with his fellowship. this movie, while not conventionally satisfying in a way you expect a movie to be, does dish out some just desserts. phenomenal acting, cinematography, and soundtrack. thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

a great movie, despite what others say
23 July 2018
Alright, i have seen quite a bit of negative reviews on here. but while reading through those reviews, i noted a couple things. 1) people don't understand that this is SUPPOSED to be a comedic movie. the reason why "serious" scenes are interrupted by some joke or punchline is because it's not supposed to keep the audience tense and on the edge of their seat. 2) people don't understand the heart of who ant-man is. he's not some valiant superhero like captain america or thor who can knock out an opponent with one punch or flick of the wrist. he is first and foremost, a father. what drives him is his relationship with his daughter, so yes, a lot of the film is centered around that. but i think this adds a special element to the film that most other superhero movies do not have. scott has a lot to lose and a lot to motivate him, other than just "being a hero and saving the day." he has a family. scott is also not a professional superhero. yes, he is ant-man and has experience with the suit, however, he does not have the resources of shield or tony stark at his disposal so he cannot simulate advanced training missions and whatnot all the time. in fact, he is under house arrest, so he can't do anything superhero related anyway. and that is why scott is dependent on other people and why it is not called "ant man 2" but "ant man and the wasp." hope van dyne plays a key role in this film, not just acting as a love interest. she is a hero in her own right and is more experienced than scott. 3) the negative reviews forget about the gripping and thrilling action sequences in this film. it is a marvel movie after all and lives up to its name with all the fight scenes and car chases and special effects. i think all the characters in this movie were key to the plot, it was engaging, and a very fun movie. i enjoyed every minute of it.

the best movie EVER
23 July 2018
This movie is my favorite marvel movie and favorite movie in general. this might sound like the ramblings of another fangirl (and maybe it is) but i haven't met a single person who hasn't enjoyed this movie. it's suspenseful, thrilling, action-packed, and even romantic. but no, not between natasha romanoff and steve rogers and not even between sharon carter and steve rogers. but between bucky barnes and steve rogers. i like to think of this movie as a love story; a dance. bucky and steve go back and forth like a dance. they are just childhood best friends who have been ripped apart by war, time, and life's cruelties. but i think this movie can resonate with everyone, whether you enjoy action-packed thrillers or rom-coms. the acting is incredible (especially by sebastian stan who barely has any lines but can convey 3 lifetimes worth of pain through one look), the action scenes are exciting and engaging, and the fight choreography is hands-down the best i have ever seen. this movie even fits in a bit of humor and some moral/political debates as well. this movie is everything and i wish i could give it more than 10 stars.

i would also give bucky barnes my life just to see him happy.

a bit slow but still enjoyable
23 July 2018
This film got a bit slow sometimes, however it does live up to the fact that it is a thriller. i guess the slowness is representative of a slow, small town life. however, the acting is incredible. i might be biased because i'm a jon bernthal fan, but i thought he was perfectly cast for his role. a lot of his characters have the same type of personality to me. flawed but still redeemable. christopher abbott does a remarkable job playing a character that i think would be very difficult to embody. however, he does an amazing job. i recommend this movie to anyone who has an hour and a half to spare.
