Beyond shockingly awful.

There is no redeeming quality to this film whatsoever. Atrocious writing, directing and acting. A director who clearly has never watched a film in his entire life. All the positive reviews are obviously fake it's the only possible explanation. It's no surprise this director wasn't allowed to make another feature after this one. I'm embarrassed for Meany.

Incredible and moving film.

Clint Eastwood delivers a masterful performance of subtlety and restraint. The film kept getting better and better as it progresses. I'm glad to say it's easily one of my favourite Eastwood films. The man has still got it after all these years! A great supporting cast that I wasn't aware of before going to see it in the cinema. Highly recommend and the fact it's based on a true story made it all the more engaging! A must see!

Boring with no character development.

Warning: Spoilers
I was really looking forward to this movie and really wanted to enjoy it after a great looking trailer. Unfortunately that's where the greatness stopped. I thought the lead actress had the same expression on her face the entire way through the film - gormless. The first 45 minutes before any horror started instead of building character and developing the relationship between the mother and son the focus seemed very aimless as if just killing time until something happens. There were serious plot holes later on that really lost me with a character going into a sinkhole and magically getting out no problem with no explanation as to how that character could possibly get out of a sinkhole hundreds of feet below. What could have been a great ambiguous ending then was ruined by a last minute bad decision. A very hyped and poor horror film and too many aspects taken out of recent Irish horror films. Way too similar to 'The Hallow' and 'Beyond The Woods' and much older horror films like 'The Changeling.' A bad mishmash of better horror films. Very weak lead character with nothing interesting about the performance to hook you in or even begin to care about the character.

Incredible show.

Brendan Gleeson's greatest role yet. It fits him like a glove. Highly suspenseful show throughout. There are a couple of much slower paced episodes but great character development nonetheless. The first season is better overall but the second season is certainly great too just a bit of a slow start, by the end it's gripping for sure. Highly recommended.

One of the best Christmas horror films.
25 January 2019
If you're looking for a great Christmas horror film look no further. I couldn't believe it when I found out all this was shot in Australia during the summer and the crew were roasting working on it! The acting here is top notch and a very unexpected twist that comes too early for my liking but none the less a very original and engaging horror film. There isn't many great Christmas horror films so great when a really good one is released. Definitely a must see for horror fans everywhere!

Loved this movie.

Came across this movie on Sky and ended up buying it in HD. I wasn't sure what to expect because most of the critical reviews were great but there were some over the top bad user reviews. After having watched it I can only assume those people auditioned for the movie and didn't get the job! The acting is top notch first off. I was really impressed with the standard of acting in this. Overall production values/special effects are great. It feels like a modern take on a classic cabin in the woods horror film. Not enough blood and gore in the film unfortunately and I would have loved more scenes out in the woods during the day. More on screen kills and woods scenes and I'd probably rate this higher but none the less it's a must see for real horror fans. An unexpected gem.

Good fun!

It's about what you'd expect. It's a good laugh, it's well acted and the plot is really good. It's not as funny as I hoped maybe but I did laugh out loud a few times and I really enjoyed the film. Well worth the watch for sure. In the vein of Shaun Of The Dead!

A classic.
25 January 2019
Only recently saw The Fog for the first time and every time I've re-watched it it gets better. It's dripping in atmosphere and suspense. It's the type of horror film that doesn't get made anymore with horror fans wanting all blood and gore and less story. One of my favourite John Carpenter movies for sure. A must see for any horror fan!

Great feel good Christmas movie!
25 January 2019
If you're looking for a great feel good Christmas movie with some nice comedy therein then look no further! Fantastic having Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis in the lead roles and there's a great support cast here too with some obvious heavyweights. Very entertaining and in my top 10 Christmas movies to watch every year easily.

Well worth the watch!

I heard a lot of negativity about this movie before seeing it and when I eventually went along to see it I felt what are people on about it's a really good movie with a lot to offer. Yes it's a bit messy/clunky towards the end but up to then it's fantastic. If you loved Unbreakable and/or Split then go see this. A great cinema going experience for me anyways.
