The Devil's Own (1997)
It's a movie not a documentary
I enjoy this movie. It features excellent actors and John Horner's musical genius. Brad Pitt even has a passable Irish accent. But don't look for the script to address the true issues of Northern Ireland, England, religion etc. it doesn't and don't expect anything that happens to make sense. Relax and enjoy.
Trauma Center (2019)
Where was Bruce
I could watch Bruce Willis in anything. Except this movie. I think they had a look alike playing him. His lines were wooden and forced almost as if someone forced him to play this character against his will. Poor script so nothing saved this movie.
The Man in the High Castle (2015)
Excellent series
I love stories of alternate realities and this one takes it there and beyond. Amazing cast, incredible cinematography and based on the writing of Philip Dick this world will surprise, sadden and surprise you again
The Chumscrubber (2005)
Intelligent movie
Meant for intelligent people. This movie isn't for everyone but I watch a lot of movies and I loved it. The cast is exquisite and so much fun to watch. It's a new take on an old subject which is primarily the failure of parents to connect with their children and each other.
SPOILER ALERT
Glenn Close's silent scream alone makes this worth watching
Dark Was the Night (2014)
Worth watching
Besides featuring two of my favorite actors, Kevin Durand and Lucas Haas, this movie has a suspenseful build up similar to a Hitchcock film. I thought it was engrossing and only slightly ruined by showing the creature in the end. Some things are scarier unseen.
Blue Bloods: Pick Your Poison (2017)
Substandard writing
I enjoy this show but this ep let me down. They introduced 3 interesting and controversial subjects but the arguments were weak, lacked substance, and sounded almost childish (oh ya so's your face). The writer let pass an opportunity for some stimulating, and in my mind, important comments on these pertinent subjects and replaced it with rather dull dialogue.
We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011)
A bit disappointing
This was obviously a vehicle for the amazing Tilda Swinton , one of my favorite actors, and she never lets you down. Her excellent acting carried the movie as well as that of John C Reilly and all of the actors playing Kevin. That being said, I found the screenplay disjointed and confusing. I've never been a fan of "time jumps" and this movie abounds with them. Kevin's age is obviously a clue as to what point of the story you're at as well as the length of Tilda's hair but it's still distracting. My personal feeling is that directors sometimes get too impressed with themselves and use these methods to show off their technique. Sadly, in this case, at the expense of the story. The 6 stars were strictly for the outstanding acting. Tilda is always worth watching.
