So much singing!
7 April 2023
I think the overuse of song makes this painful. I'm trying to watch episode 1 and I have no idea what it is about.

Oh and I said "songs". But it just the same annoying song going on and on with occasional 30 second dialogue pause.

Why am I supposed to use many words to review this. It really is an equally annoying and nondescript movie. I'm gonna finish the episode. But it is like eating an elephant, one bite at a time... except that I'm not hungry, I have no appetite at all, ever for elephant. I wonder if I can find seventy seven more character combinations . This feel too much like being assigned an essay about nothing.

I think this story would be great if...
7 July 2022
The script was animated with paper dolls held up with popsicle sticks.

It would match the very flat, one dimensional story and and make it more congruent.

It's very slow paced. Almost frozen. The kind of thing a pseudointellictuals can talk about over Scotch and smelly cigars.

Extra points for being a fedora wearing hipster.

This telling of the life of Jesus, but. . .
23 August 2021
I started to watch it, but seconds in to the first episode we see Joel Osteen giving commentary. That's a major red flag for a true Christian.

Joel Osteen preaches about "Living your Best Life Now"

I don't want to live my best life now. I want to live my next life in eternity with Jesus.

Hollywood version of Christianity.
18 April 2021
I'm a Bible Believing Christian and I've lived in a lot of different places visited different Churches, but I've never met a Christian in real life that the way we are portrayed in real life.

This pastor doesn't teach from the Bible or seem to know how to talk to God. He only recites The Lords Prayer.

It seems like this mans theology comes from the subjective experience of a 4 year old. No one in his congregation seems like they have read the Bible.

Love Historical Drama, Hate Horror.
12 April 2021
I reviewed this at episode 6 and promised to return and edit. I guess my interview did not fit in to the "helpful" category.

I had to watch the interviews by the writer to understand his decision to mix real issues with supernatural horror. It seems that he alternated between the two to emphasize the very real terror of living with PTSD. The Husband's from fighting WWII in a segregated military, the wife's from a horrific hate crime.

As a survivor of a series of crimes over my lifetime, I think it was very important to see the horror that the wife experienced. The kind of trauma that you never really escape from.

I think it was also important to show the degree of hatred and racism this family endured.

But I felt the juxtaposition of the psychological terror of real trauma and supernatural /psychological terror of a straight up horror movie was confusing and took away from some very important realities.

Great idea, terrible movie
2 January 2021
After reading the user reviews, I should have known better than to watch this film. I'm the kind of person that unless something really offensoor profane happens, I finish what I start. I watched the whole movie, waiting, hoping for something to make sense or be interesting but it just didn't happen. 2 hours of my life completely wasted.

Intriguing first season, then goes off the rails.
23 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I found this series because I am a fan of Hugh Dillon. I have chronic pain and sometimes use suspenseful drama to distract me from my aching, throbbing, body. The first season had enough intrigue to work for me. This show really went off the rails in the second season, implausible characters and situations. The third was even worse. Adding wooden, bad acting by the woman who played Sabine. That character was really annoying. I also noticed that in Durham County Violent, Gory crimes are prolific, yet one police officer, maybe 2, go in to extremely dangerous situations without backup EVERY FREAKING TIME and come out unscathed. I like Sadie Character and she is well acted but that girl has some extreme damage and instead of getting help she just keeps making bad decisions and going in to dangerous situations. In the third season she is even sent in to horrible situations by her superiors who reprimand her and send her back again and again.

Great movie about the importance of The Beatles work on culture and society, about living with integrity and Love. What's not to like?

Thank you reviewers!
2 August 2020
I thought when I read the first review, written by an atheist, I ought to read a few more, since I am a Bible believing Christian. But then found the review from a Christian, who also gave it 1 star. I don't know what represents Christianity worse, the way Christians are portrayed in most TV and films, or Cheesy cheap "Christian films".

I totally depend on IMBD user reviews to help me decide what to watch and avoid wasting my time. Thanks, Community!

I found this by searching for Jeannette Oaks movies. Hallmark did such a good job with the Love Comes Softly series, but you are right this one's a dud. I gave it a good 16 minutes, though. Couldn't take a second more.

My family wore out more than one copy of this DVD. What a brilliant film. A great comedy with wonderful characters played by a group of outstanding actors and comedians! Definitely fun for the whole family and worth watching again and again.

Warning: Spoilers
I can't tell you how much I appreciate the user reviews on IMBD. They have saved me from wasting both money and my time. I nearly spent $3.99 to watch this on prime. I was looking for a feel-good movie to watch because I suffer from Chronic pain. So much that right now I feel pretty irritable. I can tell from your honest reviews that I probably would have ended up completely agitated and with exacerbated pain. I hate movies that are contrived. I find them insulting. A special thanks to the reviewer who commented on the part where the main character receives a marriage proposal that she does not wish to accept and no one will hear her "no" and that instead, her family coerces her and tells her that her own feelings were wrong. I grew up in a family like that. My mother constantly telling me "Nida, you do not feel that way ". "You are not depressed". . .just reading that got me triggered, so thanks for the warning, dear reviewer

Ohmygosh! I am so glad that I checked here before wasting my time. The reviews were addicting, though. I read way more than I have for anything else. I had such a great time. More fun and enjoyable than anything I've watched lately. Thanks again reviewers you definitely deserve 10 stars!

Is it fair to review if I only lasted 10 minutes?
7 March 2020
This show was cringeworthy and insulting to intelligent people. My siblings and I were "gifted". But we also had common sense, manners and respect for ourselves and others. We never once destroyed property. Here's a thought, if you want a show about a bunch of geniuses, don't hire stupid writers and bad actors.

Uplifting, inspiring and fun

I just finished watching this movie and I am so glad I did. Beyond just a feel good movie. More like a feel great, maybe? Refreshing and honest. So relatable. Women will love this movie and men who would like some insight into how women think and feel could really learn something..

People liked this?

This show is so terrible. Must be written by people who have never been outside of LA. Is totally offensive and "regionist". Yes I had to create a new word to explain how offensive it is.

The main problem is that it is not funny. Note to Writers: Nebraska is not in the south, and nowhere are people this dumb. With the possible exception of people who enjoyed this show.
