Unfortunately, this movie is painfully realistic and it is very successful in depicting societies overall disconnection from reality. However it felt like I was watching an alternate reality, with all the actors that are obviously playing real-life public figures.
It is very accurate in showing the superficiality and the distortion of values within the human kind. There are some funny moments and black-comedy humor in the film, but still, the feeling of eminent despair is omnipresent.
The fact that a significant amount of people have trashed this movie, saying it is "nothing like the real world" or "unrealistic" is ironically the very thing which proves this movie to be very, very right.
Great cast, although having Ariana Grande in there playing basically Ariana Grande felt just a little too real for me. Also, the Meryl Streep's photo with Bill Clinton made me chuckle.
I feel like this movie had to advertise it self as a comedy, for this blunt criticism of celebrities and other public and political figures to be possible, or rather, digestible. Alas, it still went over many peoples heads.
I definitely recommend watching it, I'd give it a 7 movie-wise since it wasn't really my style of producing and such, but given the incredibly important message it has, I give it an 8.
