Fallout (2024)
Never played the game. Love the show.
I'm not a gamer so I've no idea (or interest) in how true to the game it may be. But I'm finding the show really gripping after a slightly slow start. The first two episodes were a little too gamey for me but I'm very glad I kept watching as the world building is very good indeed and at the end of S1 I really want to know more. The future-retro styling is so well done. The show is delightfully absurd at times and despite the dystopian theme, which gets uncomfortably close to the bone, it's very funny. All the main cast are turning in quality performances, in particular Walton Goggins . The plot and characters keep me yearning for series 2.
House on Elm Lake (2017)
Atmospheric and gripping demonic possession story
Really loved this. Always a sucker for a good demonic thriller and this had all the requisite boxes ticked! Definitely some twists I didn't see coming - (no spoilers!). Not the biggest of budgets, but gruesome effects are quality. Don't expect: multi-million dollar effects. Do : expect: some terrifying moments and a fast moving plot. It's reminiscent of some horror classics - but in a good way. Highly recommend.
Bloodline (2015)
Wish there was more of it!
This is one of the best series I've seen in a good while. It's dark, it's atmospheric and full of secrets and twists and the backdrop is stunning. The idyllic setting is perfect counterpoint to the dark imagery and turns it takes you on. Lovely performances all round. I normally binge watch - but I can't with this as I want it to last longer!
Tin Star (2017)
Good solid series, drifts a bit - but still worth your time
Always a draw to see Tim Roth, so gave this a go. Starts pretty fast - very unexpected twists very early. At times it's a little hard to follow as the series progresses - don't fully know where it is leading at end of Season 1 - but I'm certainly caught and will be watching the next series!
