Dark (2017–2020)

A disappointment

Originally I gave 10 stars after watching Season One. I reduced 2 stars after watching Season Two and finally reduced 2 stars while watching Season Three. Why? The story was original with plot twists only in Season One. After that, almost everything was a repetion in another time line or another world. At one stage, I was very confused, "which world I am watching? ", whether the original world or the new world. The story was interesting when we move between 2019 and 1986. When the story moved to 1953, it became tolerable. It became boring when the story moved to 1921. Finally it became intolerable when the story shifted to 19th century, as well as another parallel world, without Jonah. That's the last straw! I can't watch any further. I have once again decided to watch only Mini series, saying goodbye to series with multiple seasons.

Iraivan (2023)

Nice psycho thriller

At last, a psycho thriller in Tamil, for mature audience. (Underline : Not for kids). Kudos to the director for a bold movie like this. Alas, the film crew had to pay heavy price, for the bold step i.e. Box office failure. It shows how immature the majority of audience are in this country. There are moderate gore elements in the movie, most of which were pixelated. When compared to similar foreign movies, it's nothing. But the people can't even digest such kind of scenes in cinema, whereas the reality is gorier than what is shown in cinema. There is no fault with the plot. Nothing complicated in the plot. Crystal clear story. I reduced one star for the unnecessary heroine and over acting of some cast. Other than these, the movie is very much enjoyable. Those who understand the genre of psycho thrillers, will definitely appreciate this movie.

Ambassada (2013)

An underrated masterpiece

When I noticed the poor rating for this movie, I hesitated a little bit about watching this movie. But I have strong faith on Juliusz Machulski, the director of this movie, who had directed many great movies. I was rewarded for my faith. It's an excellent time travel masterpiece. Very entertaining and hilarious. Not even a single flaw. Never a dull moment in the movie. The ending is perfect and very satisfying. I think, as usual, the ratings are biased in this case. If this trend continues i.e. Wantonly increasing or decreasing the ratings for particular type of movies, without any justification, the system of rating and review should be abolished by imdb. Only a fool or a fanatic of some sort, will give such poor rating for a masterpiece like this. One of the greatest time travel movies. Don't miss it.

Crna svadba (2021– )

Excellent supernatural thriller

As usual, I'm surprised about the negative reviews. Don't be fooled by such negative reviews. The story is crystal clear. Nothing confusing or ambiguous. There are two time lines in the movie. One is happening in 1976 and the other is current situation. Nothing was revealed in the initial stage. As the story moves on, we understand the plot as well as the connection between the two time lines. Nudity in this series involves only few topless scenes (till episode 7, when I write this review). When compared Black Sun, sexual situations are very less. Similarly Cracow Monsters, another excellent Eastern European series was also poorly reviewed. It shows a planned attack on Eastern European series and movies. But I don't understand the motive. I think it's time for IMDB to curtail such malicious, purported negative reviews. Anyway, fans of supernatural thrillers should not miss this series.

Karungaapiyam (2023)

Excellent funny horror anthology

I am a fan of director DK. All his movies are generally funny, especially Yaamirukka Bayamen. This movie is also funny as well as with the elements of horror. A must for fans of comic horror movies. I understand the good rating for the movie, but unable to understand the vehement review by a co-reviewer. Don't expect too much logic in a comedy horror like this. Just relax and enjoy, without thinking too much about logical plot. Some segments are predictable, even though enjoyable. Others are quite unpredictable with a twist. All the segments are based on Corona lock down period. A creative thinking by the director. I am expecting more funny horror movies like this from the director.

Evil Eye (2022)

Excellent folklore horror

This movie is very much underrated. I strongly suspect that this may be due to some ulterior motive. Forget about the poor rating. First of all, atmosphere is creepy, which is a necessary ingredient for a good horror movie. While watching the movie, a lot of questions arise in our mind. Why this thing happpens? What is the meaning of this? Etc. Some scenes make you to come over the seat edge. Finally, there comes the climax with excellent twist, along with explanations for all your questions. Blood in the movie, is neither excessive nor less. It is perfect. Basically I am a fan of Mexican horror and this movie did not disappoint me. Fans of folklore horror, should not miss this movie.

Varalaru Mukkiyam (2022)

Hilarious

Very funny movie! I really don't understand such poor rating, which it doesn't deserve. If you are a critic, looking for intelligent, logical comedy, don't watch this movie. Such kind of movies do not exist. If you are a normal man, without expecting any logic in a comedy movie, then this movie is a must for you. This movie is so much hilarious that when I think of certain scenes, I just laugh without caring about my situation. It's a pity that this movie didn't get the proper attention which is important for a movie. Jeeva is so adept in a comic role. If we don't encourage movies like this, we soon will have to forget full length comedy movies like Kasethan Kadavulada.

Gatta Kusthi (2022)

A propaganda film

As per my review title, this film is an 100% propaganda film. The theme is "Women can survive without men by making many sacrifices, whereas men will be doomed without women". If this movie had been neutral, I would have given 10 stars. Because of the biased view, I give it 5 stars, that too only for good acting. Otherwise it is eligible only for 1 star. As stated by one reviewer, acting of Karunas is great. But the director made his character in such a way that even male supremists will abhor his character. Such a stereotype! Perhaps the director is from some other planet, that he is not aware of those women who kill their own children for the sake of their lovers. I don't know how long men have to bear this kind of humility, that too from fellow men.

Cracow Monsters (2022– )

An underrated masterpiece

It's a mystery why average rating for this series is less than seven stars. It's a fantasy horror. It has all the required elements for a good fantasy horror series. Acting is okay. Sometimes the character of the lead actress is irritating. But it happens all the time in horror movies / series. So it's tolerable. I have never seen any fantasy series or movies related to Slavic or Polish folklore. Hence the idea is definitely novel. General atmosphere of the series is creepy. There are enough gore elements in the series. Special effects, make-up and locations are great. You can give ten stars only for these. There is definitely a story in this series. Whether you understand it or not, is related to your IQ. Finally I conclude that the poor rating for this may be due to some other reasons like how can you make such a great series in Polish with local folklore, etc. A must to watch for fantasy fans.

Sex comedy sans nudity

One of the reviewers is wondering why this movie is poorly rated. The simple reason is that it is one of those foolish sex related comedy without any nudity or female topless scene. Then why the heck they make such kind of movies? It's one of those million dollar questions. There are a lot of situations in this movie for nudity. But nudity / topless scenes are very carefully avoided, as if it were a kids movie. It's really frustrating to watch such kind of movies with beautiful babes who were actually nude in front of the shooting crew, but not to the public. Fans of pure sex comedies should avoid this movie.

The Vault (I) (2017)

Nice thriller with a twist

I completely agree with one of the reviewers who has aptly called for higher ratings for this movie. Well, to begin with, the plot is original, as far as my cinema knowledge goes. We have seen a number of bank heist movies, but not like this one. The plot definitely keeps you tense, there is no doubt about it. There is one twist at the end, even though I had guessed it before. There is nothing to complain about this movie except that the death count in the movie, could have been higher, so that it would be much fun. It's definitely worth a try for thriller / horror fans.

Clash (1984)

Nice surreal flick

Actually this is not a horror movie. This can be classified as Surreal Fantasy. So we need not worry about a proper story or explanation for everything. This movie is dreamlike with a tint of creepiness. Those are the key ingredients of a surreal movie. This movie has those key elements. So it is throughly enjoyable to a surreal fan like me. So friends, don't care about negative reviews. If you are a surreal / fantasy fan, you will definitely like this movie.

Kill Me Please (2015)

Utter crap

Of late, I have developed a liking for Argentinian movies, after watching Aterrados. I've watched a number of Argentinian movies, after that. Similarly I watched this movie, deceived by the tag "horror". Really I don't know what is there in this movie, to praise. I am really shocked to see a review comparing this piece of crap to the masterpieces directed by David Lynch. I think most of the good reviews are paid reviews. This movie is highly pretentious. That's all. There is definitely no horror, no plot, in short, this movie is a zero. Usually I don't write negative reviews. But this movie forced me to write such a harsh review, because I nearly wasted two hours of my precious time. So guys, don't be tricked by false reviews or misleading tags or beautiful girls in the movie. Stay away from this crap.

Movie 43 (2013)

An underrated gem

This movie is poorly rated. Does that mean it's a bad movie? No! Then why it's rated with less than 5 stars? Because it's mostly rated and reviewed by people who don't understand the type of this movie. Not all comedy movies are for everyone. There are various types of comedy movies, like slapstick comedy, farce comedy, black comedy, etc. This movie comes under the category of Absurd comedy. I find this movie absolutely hilarious, because I am a fan of Absurd humor. So I request people not to rate or review a movie, in bad light, unless you understand what type of movie it is and whether you like that type of movie or not. So don't take all negative reviews or ratings, at their face value. This movie is a must for fans of Absurd humor.

The Caller (2011)

An underrated gem

It is such a pity that the remake Korean movie The Call, is more praised than the original movie, The Caller, even though the story of The Caller is very clear till the end, with no ambiguity. There is not even a single flaw in this movie, to the best of my knowledge, whereas for the remake movie, The Call, I had to visit various websites to understand the end of the movie. I have no grudge against the remake, even I have given 10 stars for the movie. But the original, that too a crystal clear make, should never be underrated. That is why I am writing this review. Believe me guys, there is no confusion or difficulty in understanding this movie. The end is also very logical and acceptable. So, those whoever has seen the remake, should give a chance to this movie and then decide what is better.

Pappa e ciccia (1983)

Funny, Italian style

Usually I like Italian comedies, especially sex comedies, except the dumb ones. I was deceived by the tag, "sex comedy", whereas this movie is not a sex comedy, not even an iorta of sex is available in this movie. But it has definitely it's funny moments which made me laugh. I don't know whether everyone will like this kind of comedy. But I liked it. But I reduced one star for lack of sex in this movie.

Bullets of Justice (2019)

Spectacular post-apocalyptic flick.

I don't know how to express my feeling after watching this movie. It has been a long time since I watched such a spectacular action flick. Remember it's not for kids. This movie has all the ingredients for a great action film i. e. guns, boobs, gore, etc. I really don't know why this movie is poorly rated. If people expect childish action movies like Avenger series, they should never, in the first place, set their eyes on this movie. It's not for all. Yes, some scenes in the movie, are abominable. But it's natural in an adult action film like this. You should expect all sort of abominations or gore in a movie like this. Even though I don't clearly understand the end of the movie, it doesn't hinder my appreciation of this movie. I eagerly await for more movies like this.

Just Sex, Nothing Personal (2018)

A waste of time

I don't know why the heck people make sex comedies without any nudity or boobs. Actually this movie is apt to be called a romantic comedy than a sex comedy. I was deceived by the name. Had I expected to watch a romantic comedy, I would not given such a poor rating. So people, if you expect a sex comedy with lot of boobs, don't come near this movie. That is my only suggestion. A waste of time.

Pancharaaksharam (2019)

An unknown gem

I write this review after a long gap of time, because I find it imperative to write a review, after seeing two opposite reviews about this movie. First of all, this movie should have been classified under Fantasy Thriller. In a fantasy or surreal movie, no one can expect logic or reason. So when you consider this movie a fantasy, the question of logic does not arise. The first half an hour of the movie is somewhat slow. But after the five friends came in contact with the mysterious book, the pace of the movie increases which culminates into a spectacular end. If a book is responsible for the misery of certain people, then it is also acceptable that it has the remedy for their problem. I don't know what is there for people to discredit the movie based on the argument that the book guides them to the missing person. So ignore negative review about lack of logic. It's a must watch for fantasy / thriller lovers.

6 Athiyayam (2018)

A great disappointment

I was once again deceived by a false good review in a local daily. I expected this movie to be a good horror anthology like the Hollywood and British movies I've seen in the past. But, it's a poor anthology made by amateur directors, who have to learn a lot from Hollywood movies. Why? Because there is no real horror in this movie; no twists; no spine chilling effects; no cleverness, etc. Why have I given 3 stars for this movie? Because one of the stories is somewhat funny, story of the stalking spirit. If you have not seen any great horror movies before, you may find it enjoyable. A definite waste of time.

Ulkuthu (2017)

A good revenge movie

This movie starts ordinarily. A youth ran out of his house after a difference of opinion with his father. That's the beginning. But the movie gains momentum after certain twists, culminating in an acceptable end. Even though it's a gangster type movie, it has some valid arguments against rowdyism. We can accept the violence in the movie for the sake of the end with a good message. Acting by Dinesh, is realistic. His expressions are apt for all occasions. There are humorous situations throughout the movie, which make the movie enjoyable in all aspects. There is no importance for the heroine in this movie. I am really happy to see such good movies in Tamil in quick succession.

Kasaba (2016)

An excellent cop movie

Usually I don't watch Malayalam movies. But the controversies surrounding the movie, made me watch this movie. After watching this movie, I begin to wonder what kind of a country we are living in. There is nothing misogynistic in this movie. On the contrary, the real life is more vulgar and more misogynistic than what was depicted in this movie. Generally in Indian movies, actual life of common people are seldom portrayed. Film world is quite different from the real world. In real life most of the cops are ruthless, vulgar and without morality. We see and hear about them daily. Yet, when same cop was portrayed in a movie, as a hero, people refuse to accept him. What a paradox! The negative reviews about this film have taught me a lesson that all reviews need not be impartial and never judge a movie with negative reviews of people who have a personal grudge against a type of movies and against some particular actors or directors. Regarding this movie, acting is really great. Mammootty is a little bit older and gains some weight. That's the only minus point in this movie. Otherwise his acting is perfect, especially his walking style is unique and elegant. The ending of the movie is good and justified. This movie has made me to search for such good Malayalam movies and watch them. I'm really happy to know that most of the common people rejected the negative reviews about this movie and made this movie a box office success.

Another super Tamil hero film

I usually appreciate Vikram movies. He is one of the best actors in Tamil film industry. But I can't include this movie in the list of his best movies. Why? Because it's a typical Tamil action-cum-masala movie. Entry song, that too a Kuthu song, hero bombarding ten rowdies armed with deadly weapons, empty handedly, situation songs, etc. I can't tolerate anymore and I have decided never to watch another Tamil masala film in my life. On one hand, good movies like Mayavan, Vidhi Madhi ultaa emerging in Tamil movie industry, and on the other hand masala movies like this! What a paradox! If mass heros like Vikram, Surya, etc. don't change their acting styles and types of movies they choose, there won't be any place for them in Tamil movie industry. This movie has a twist end and I really don't like the twist. Even though this movie has a message, it will exert a bad influence in the society. Because most of the people tend to grasp the negative points in a movie, forgetting the good central theme. It's better to avoid making movies like this.

A good science fiction.

Science fictions are very rare among Tamil movies. This is one of those rarest movies. Even though I had previously read about the plot of this movie in a local daily, it doesn't hinder in anyway my enjoying the movie. A fast paced thriller with no dull moment! Till the end of the movie, I considered the plot of movie to be an improbable one. But on seeing the title card only, I understood that researches are going on globally over the centre point of the movie. Acting is perfect. No one overdoing it or lacks it! Absolutely no cinematic or heroic deeds in this movie! This movie clearly exhibits the negative side of modern science. Another hidden gem!

Vidhi Madhi Ultaa (2018)

One of those hidden gems

What made me watch this movie, which is unknown to many of us? A good review read in a local daily. But for that review, I would never have come across this movie. It's an excellent movie. I am really happy to have watched a clever movie like this. It's very hard to believe that the leading actor of this movie was actually introduced in this movie. Such a mature and casual acting! A very pleasing face also! This movie is enjoyable in all aspects. Especially the end is unpredictable. Not a single flaw to the best of my knowledge! It's a pity that good and intelligent movies like this went unnoticed. In the absence of proper recognition for intelligent movies like this, we can't expect good quality movies in future. We will be doomed to watch utter craps and trashes in the name of commercial movies. Congrats for the entire movie crew.
