The Flight Attendant (2020–2022)
6/10
It's a fun show but also nothing new.

This was fun with some positive traits, but I really don't understand the near universal praise. It feels pretty run of the mill--an intriguing story full of caricatures. Compare this to the heavy handed Netflix spoof, "THE WOMAN IN THE HOUSE ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE GIRL IN THE WINDOW" and you'll see a lot of similarities. Maybe I am taking it too seriously, but I expected a bit more from an HBO show.

This can't be the best Canada has to offer.

The concept is fun an easy hook. Of course, it's also a complete rip off of evil dead and other stories. Except this is terrible writing on a fundamental level and it lacks diversity, and completely antiquated ideas about women in a way that is not commentary just a cheap copy of the aspect of many classic horror films.

The Passage (2019)

The pilot is so so, but I've found it to be thoroughly enjoyable moving forward.

I was excited for this show as a reader of the books. Then I saw the reviews and was worried. That worry was amplified when I realized it was a network tv show which is inherently limiting to sci-fi fantasy shows in my experience.

I won't lie, the pilot stunk of mediocrity. The writing and acting so so. It still has a sort of network tv vibe, but it doesn't feel as bad as the pilot. I'm thoroughly enjoying the story and anxious for the next episode week to week.

I'll be annoyed if the show gets cancelled, but so far it's looking like it could be based on the early reviews and viewership.

Disjointed (2017–2018)

Not a good show. But at least it has Kathy Bates

This show is just as shitty as any other Chuck Lorre show except it has a slight advantage over his other shows because you don't have CBS keeping it from cursing. The concept sounds fun, but Chuck Lorre has a way of sucking out every last bit of originality and uniqueness. Its just so bad in its writing, and its acting isn't very good either save Kathy Bates who does a great job with the s**t shes given. That said, I appreciate Dank and Dabby. I think its less the writing and much more how well those two execute what they're given. Its about the only parts I actually laugh.

It tries to throw in drama on a occasion and it feels forced and poorly done. Granted, if you watch Chuck Lorre shows you're probably used to it.
